Guest Mad Chick Magnet Report post Posted December 11, 2002 ...and they rock. That's all I have to say.
Guest Matt Young Report post Posted December 11, 2002 Yes, yes they do. Plus, they have far better songs on their CD than the 2 singles that are out. But why, oh why, must the lead singer date Kelly Osbourne?
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted December 11, 2002 The Used are HORRIBLE. Horrible, horrible, horrible. They are probably the worst live act I've ever seen. Ridiculous posturing, incoherently dumb songs, simplistic whining with a fake hardcore edge...oog. Worst of all, they're just excessively dull. Being sandwiched between Vendetta Red and Andrew WK didn't help them look good at all. "A Box Full Of Sharp Objects" is good for a laugh, "Poetic Tragedy" makes me kind of want to vomit, and so on, and so forth. It's pretty generic emo with one dude who screams. I'm really not a fan. Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted December 11, 2002 They sound a LOT (and by a lot I mean exactly like) Thursday.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted December 11, 2002 What kind of Bastard would start a thread for The Used? Maybe I'm a little too harsh, The Used is alright...I like Thursday better though.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Report post Posted December 11, 2002 It's been said by everyone else in this thread already, but I really, REALLY hate The Used.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted December 11, 2002 What kind of Bastard would start a thread for The Used? From the very first post I knew it was Sebastian the Emo Kid.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 11, 2002 Emo means Emotional, you know.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted December 11, 2002 It's a nice way of saying puss rock.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted December 11, 2002 Have you guys ever seen the way emo kids dance? It's terrifying. They wiggle their arms and touch their wrists in bold symbolic gestures about getting dumped and crying or something, and I have no idea what's going on. It's pretty scary stuff. Guest Incandenza Report post Posted December 11, 2002 I may trash the whole emo lifestyle (and enjoy doing so), but the small section of emo girls that are hot are REALLY hot. Most emo girls tend to be overweight, but man, the attractive few more than make up for it.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted December 11, 2002 This is actually pretty true. Which, of course, begs the question: what the hell are THEY crying about? (My guess is they just want to use their hotness to bang them some "sensitive" guys, but it's more fun to ask that question.)
Guest Narcoleptic Jumper Report post Posted December 12, 2002 The Used sound nothing like Thursday. That is all.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted December 12, 2002 Why haven't I heard of this band? I swear, before this thread was started I had never once heard of The Used before in any shape or form. I can only faintly recollect having heard the name Thursday tossed around a few times, as well. I'm starting to feel like our shitty 21st century youth culture is passing me by. Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted December 12, 2002 I've heard of Thursday, but I have no idea who The Used are. But Thursday wrote that song "understanding in a car crash" or something like that. Reminded me of some kind've weird combination of At the Drive In and the Smiths.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted December 12, 2002 Yeah, Thursday's kinda like if Morrissey decided to front Minor Threat rather the Smiths. The singer whines, in other words. They're not bad, but I don't think that highly about them.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted December 12, 2002 I still have no clue. I'm going to have to subscribe to "Circus" just to know what anyone's talking about soon enough.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted December 12, 2002 I've never actually heard anything by the Used, and I only assumed they were emo because of the first post, which was so obviously written by Sebastian the Bastard. Hope that makes you feel better.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted December 12, 2002 I've suddenly noticed a lot of people in hip circles talking about something called "electroclash." I'm totally in the dark, and yet it seems to be some sort of underground phenomenon. How did I get so far outside of the loop?
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted December 12, 2002 1) I like a lot of emo...for one a lot of it is just good music, not saying all is, but a lot of it is. And I don't sit in the dark and sob about relationships. 2) I like Sebastain...he takes a lot of shit here cause his taste in music.
Guest KingOfOldSchool Report post Posted December 12, 2002 I've heard of The Used, but never actually heard anything by them... Upon seeing this topic, I had to think for a few minutes as to where I've heard the name before though. Electroclash - It's apparently a dance music thing, steeped in '80s influence and fashion, along with arty posturing. And the originator, or the guy who re-introduced it to the scene, going by the pure '80s influence, was responsible for RuPaul's old "hit" from the early '90s (which doesn't make me very hopeful for the trend). Heh, electroclash in a nutshell. A search on Google should get you more adequate information... one article I found pretty much referred to it as "new new wave." And I'm out of loop as much as you are, Kinetic. In fact, I was never very into it in the first place.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted December 12, 2002 Oh you could just ask kotz...I'm sure he knows all about it.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 12, 2002 Yucky Band...Taste of Ink was fun for the first 23 second and then it sucked from there and so did the whole album...can't believe I wasted a perfectly good blank disc for them...
