Seriously, I had no idea it hadn'd been released in America yet. As it is/was a US show, I assumed it (like most DVDs) was released in the US long before region 2.

So i should be able to both at less then $30 each the first week of release. That's a good thing to hear.

No, you guys get quite a few TV show DVDs before we do (Buffy, Angel, Futurama). There are all kinds of syndication deals that prevent them from releasing them stateside right away.

So the first season of Family Guy is a whopping 8 episodes but yet they stretched that out over 4 discs just so they can try to make everybody pay 50 dollars for it. Yet another reason why I hate TV shows on DVD. They could've easily gotten that on 2 discs and been 19.95 like every other 2 disc set.

The price isn't going to be $50. It'll be $35 at most at any decent store. It'll be under $30 for it's first week at some of the better stores.

maybe there is a Canadian vs USA Dollar exchange difference. I know that I do not want to pay more than $24.95 for Family Guy but the Futurama set looks good to me.

the only shows of Family Guy that I liked was the one with Peter declaring his house a country and the one with him losing weight. The rest of the show is just blah.

It sometimes works the other way as well. The complete Series 1 & 2 of Futurama are out in England but shows like 'The Young Ones' and Monty Python's Flying Circus' are only properly avaliable in America. All we have is one of those rubbish 'best of' comp DVD's for Python. I'm not too bitter about that though because the last 6-8 years has been a modern golden age for British comedy shows and most of them are readily avaliable on DVD.

I just might have to buy the Family Guy DVD. That was a good show, I just wish I knew why they cancelled it. :(

They cancelled it for the same reason any show is cancelled.

Ratings.

Yes, Fox screwed with it's time slot so much they couldn't get an larger following. However all of that is beyond the point as any show that doesn't get ratings that please the station will get cancelled.

If it's up to ratings. Will somebody explain Angel to me? Every show that has been cancelled this year gets better ratings than Angel. It's at the bottom every week and it never gets cancelled. Instead of doing one of those save a show campaigns I'm gonna start cancel Angel campaign.

It's on UPN/WB and great ratings aren't as important to them, because they know none of their shows will ever get great ratings.

UPN/WB are probably happy if one of their shows can just get an consistent following.

So the price is probably correct at $50, but it'll contain both seasons (like the Sports Night set).

Well, it just says First Season and it lists 8 episodes. That doesn't really add up to 17.5 hours does it? Where does it say it has both seasons?

The first season was short because it was a mid-season show. It's first show was after the Superbowl one year.

If you look at the commentaries they have listed, majority of the episdoes are from Season 2, thus they probably combined the very short first season with the full second one.

I still haven't found a list of the eps on there but I found the running time for the set. The running time is 632 minutes and that WOULD be 28 episodes almost exactly. I guess if I didn't have all these episodes already it might be worth it.

28 eps = Season 1 and 2, so it's all good.

I had a few of them on my HD, but deleted them a while ago.

The price still won't be $50. That's the retail price and the price consumers pay is always less.

Which is usually about 10 dollars so it'll probably be 40 normally, 30-35 if it goes on sale. But with the lack of respect Family Guy gets I'd suspect that stores wouldn't even recognize it enough to bother putting it on sale and I'd be shocked to walk into our local Best Buy to see more than 2 copies and that's if they get it at all.
