Guest saturnmark4life Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 I tell ya, this show now being re run on daytime tv over here in the UK, and I LOVE IT. Higgins' delivery is pure genius, and Rick and TC are so cool. Today Magnum went diving and saw a vision of a little boy that drowned like a few years ago, and then a fighter jet tried to shoot him and it turned out to be the boy's dad, who accidentally killed the kid in the first place, but it's ok, he was only trying to kill the grnadfather who wouldn't sell him an aircraft hangar or something. I CAN'T MAKE THIS UP. Share your Magnum experiences here. Never before has one show (except The Norm Show but nevermind that one) made me mark out so much. I LOVE WEEKDAYS AT 11~%
Guest areacode212 Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 Yes, this show was awesome. A great blend of action, humor & chicks in bikinis, and all the actors had great chemistry. That final year was pretty depressing though and felt really lethargic. Good thing it's coming to DVD next year because I haven't seen it since the 80s.
Guest SP-1 Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 It's on A&E during the daytime here in the states. I watched it alot as a kid, as well as Miami Vice. Magnum was pretty cool. And yeah, sometimes the storylines took some odd turns but I think that added to it's overall coolocity. Indeed, Magnum PI rules.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 Saturnmark rules for bringing up The Norm Shoe!! Magnum is a pretty kick ass show- I saw an episode with Phil Hartman's voice (his first ever tv appearance) and I marked out
Guest razazteca Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 so who is Robin? was it really Higgins or what! the episode about the Big Kahuna is the best show ever.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 It was hinted in the last episode that Higgins was Robin Masters, but that was never truly revealed. So, anyone who says that Higgins was without a doubt Robin Masters is blowing smoke up your ass. Masters was voiced in early episodes by Orson Welles. An interesting note was a proposed crossover between Magnum P.I. and Quantum Leap as they shared the same executive producer and creator, Donald Bellasario. The idea was to have Sam leap into Thomas Magnum, but the concept never came to fruition. In fact, one Magnum episode has him mentioning that he needs to meet up with his friends Al and Sam who have come to Hawaii to celebrate a break through on a big project they have been working on. Showing that Bellasario had the show on his mind for several years.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 The thing about the norm show is i just watched it cos i like annoying my friends with talk of stupid sitcoms that are occasionally on at 3am in the UK but it was actually pretty funny at least oh, twice. But then I realised what i actually watching. The central character is an ex-hockey player turned social worker. What the HELL is that? That very line was a teaser in a tv guide, and i laughed my ass off after i said it out loud. Hell, it was better than Drew Carey. Back to MAGNUM~% and the best episode i've seen thus far was the treasure hunt one, where in a truly special moment all the show regulars jump off a rock into a lagoon at the end chasing all this cash. Lieutenant Tanaka rocks so hard. And magnum on DVD? FUCK YEAH%
Guest areacode212 Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 How many different shows were part of the "Magnum Universe"? Magnum P.I. did crossovers with Simon & Simon & Murder, She Wrote. Murder, She Wrote did a crossover with The Equalizer, and I vaguely remember hearing that references were made to characters from Hawaii Five-O on Magnum (either that, or an H5-O character actually appeared on the show). And Quantum Leap, at least unofficially, takes place in the same universe. Am I leaving anything out?
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 There was a website about t.v. crossovers that I read about the Quantum Leap thing on, but it appears to be down right now. All the ones you mention sound right though and I can't think of anymore. It's also worth mentioning the Frank Sinatra guest shot, very rare for him to do.
