Guest Black Tiger Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 can someone tell me what exactly a Debug mode is? I've heard the term but I have no clue as to what it means
Guest Renegade Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 Its a hack which lets you tamper with the game.
Guest Cavi Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 A developer would run the debug mode when they wanted to tweak things here and there and fix bugs. It's used near the end of the development cycle during the debugging process. In regards to the debug mode we see in the games we play, that is basically the sort of options the developers had. Change gameplay parameters like infinite lives, spawn certain characters, etc. In this sense, think of it as a cheats menu.
Guest bravesfan Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 Using a cheat code, may also grant you access to "Debug Mode". I've seen several of the older Sonic games with it....
Guest Black Tiger Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 Thanks for the info. I saw the mode listed as a cheat code for Virtual Chess 64 and I was clueless on what it meant.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 Also, I believe almost every arcade game machine has one as well, since the debug menu is where the arcade owner can indicate how many coins equates one credit, how many credits it takes to play the game, etc.
