Monday Night RAW 2/18/02

-One day removed from the No Way Out PPV, and the n.W.o. has made its presence felt already, as Flair, HHH, Stone Cold and yes even Kurt Angle have been assaulted by the group.  HHH managed to hold onto his no. 1 contender spot at Wrestlemania also!  JR says that tonight Stone Cold and HHH take on Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho in a tag match later on.  Let’s head to the ring for the first match!

1 – Euro. Title:  Ch. DDP vs. Lance Storm w/Christian

Christian appears to be coaching his buddy Storm, since it was Christian who lost the belt to DDP a few weeks back.  Strom hits a variety of suplexes and scores with a top-rope legdrop, but DDP gets a foot on the ropes.  Christian gets on the apron to hit DDP, so Storm whips DDP into the ropes but DDP reverses and Christian clocks Storm by mistake!  DDP hits the Diamond Cutter on the staggering Storm to retain the belt.  Afterwards, Christian and Storm seem to have a few words as they walk up the ramp.

*Segment 1:  Backstage the Coach is with IC Champ William Regal, who is marveling at the power of the punch which has done so many foes in.  Just then, Edge bursts in on the interview and points out that Regal didn’t even use the brass knuckles in the match last night, he used a chair when the ref was knocked out.  So Ric Flair has granted him one last match to win the IC Belt back… and oh yeah it’s tonight, and it’s a no DQ hardcore match which reeks of awesomeness!  (cut to commercial)

*Segment 2:  The Rock’s music hits and out walks the People’s Champion down to the ring.  Finally… the Rock has come back… to Chicago!  The Rock talks about last night’s match with the ‘Taker and how it was a grueling battle.  Tempers flared, and things got a little ugly… but when all was said and done, the Rock stood victorious in the middle of the People’s Ring.  The Rock doesn’t like the Undertaker, but the ‘Taker has won one thing that he so desired… and that is… the Rock’s respect.  But if the Dead Man wants to go one-on-one with the Great One again, he will surely get his ass handed to him once again and….

(The n.W.o. theme hits the arena and out walk Hogan, Hall, and Nash to pyro and TitanTron entrance video.)

Hall:  Hey yo… Rocky…  you want to come out here and waste these people’s good time, Chico?  Shouldn’t you be.. I dunno… laying the smack down or something???

Nash:  Rock it seems like you were the luckiest man in the arena last night, since you were NOT on our short list of victims, pal!  But your luck has all but ran out, my friend..

Hall:  Let’s do a little survey… who here came to see… the People’s Champ?  (loud applause) Ok, who came here to see… the n.W.o.???  (mixed boos and cheers) Well, looks like another one for the good guys.

Hogan:  That’s just tooooo sweet, brotha!  Just let it be known, Rock… you’re living on borrowed time, we can squash you at any time!

Rock:  Oh yeah?  Well why don’t you bring your monkey asses down here so I can layeth the smacketh down all over Chicago???

(The three huddle, and Hogan appears to have the plan)

Hogan:  Ok, ok… since you’ve convinced us so nicely… you’ll get to face one member of the n.W.o. here tonight, brotha!  But that’s all the info you get right now.  (end segment)

2 – Chuck and Billy vs. Taz and Spike

JR thinks it’s rather unfair that the former tag champs don’t get an immediate rematch for the belts… but the King points out that they’re not the no. 1 contenders anymore… the hardyz are, after going through 4 teams last night at the PPV!  JR agrees and says that the Hardyz have the night off after such a grueling match for them last night.  Chuck starts off against Spike, and pretty much controls the match.  Spike gets a desperation tag to Tazz, who really works over Chuck… but here come the Dudleyz!  Taz gets ditracted, which allows Billy to hit the Fame-asser, and Chuck rolls up Taz for the pin.  Dudleyz and Billy and Chuck overpower Taz and Spike, until the APA runs down to clean house!

*Segment 3 – Ric Flair walks down to the ring, and he has a bandage on his cheek form the beating given to him by Hall and Nash last night.

Flair – Whoooooo!!! It’s good to be back in Chicago, this is a great wrestling town.  First off, Vince McMahon… I have to hand it to you Vince, you outsmarted me last night.  The n.W.o. is clearly here now, and who knows where it will end.  But as long as I’m here I promise that the n.Wo. will not disrupt the activities of the WWF.  That’s why tonight, I’m going to make up for the interferences of the n.W.o. last night.  Tonight’s main event tag match is special, and whoever wins will truly have something to fight for.  If Stone Cold and HHH win, then Stone Cold will get a re-match with Chris Jericho for the Undisputed Title one week from tonight.  If Jericho and Angle win, then Kurt Angle gets another shot at the no. 1 contendership for Wrestlemania currently held by HHH one week from tonight on RAW.  The people that ordered that PPV deserve to see matches without screw-job endings, dammit!  (cut to commercial)

3 – Goldust vs. Rob Van Dam

JR states that this is a return match from last night’s PPV, since nothing seemed to be resolved… even though RVD won the match last night.  RVD makes his way down, and Goldust runs down and begins beating the hell out of RVD.  RVD is surprised by this sudden attack at first, but quickly gains and advantage and hits the Rolling Thunder and Five Star Frog Splash and goes for the pin, when suddenly the arena goes dark and then gold glitter begins to fall, and on the TitanTron appears….  Goldust?!?

Goldust:  Oh Robbie…. Foolish foolish Robbie…. Do you think I would agree to your demands for a match again so quickly?  You see we are playing a little game now… and it’s by my rules now.  Last night I simply lulled you into a false sense of security… but now the mind games truly begin.  These people deserve to know the real reason why I’ve singled you out, but they must wait just a bit longer before the truth is finally revealed… (The screen goes black and the lights come back up, and it appears that the “Goldust” in the ring was just a decoy, and he runs off.  JR and the King have no idea what to make of all this.)

*Backstage, Christian and Lance Storm run into DDP, and they are demanding a tag match with him on Smackdown.  DDP says that’s fine, but shouldn’t they be wondering who his tag partner might be?  Storm says he doesn’t care… they only want a piece of him.  Christian and Storm leave the locker room, and just then Kane comes around the corner and DDP gives him that goofy cheesy grin and a big thumbs up, and Kane returns the thumbs up!

4 – IC Title:  Ch. William Regal vs. Edge

JR says that the stipulations are anything goes for this match, and the King says it’s just not fair!  This appears to be a much better match than the one from the PPV.  Regal ultimately goes to use the brass knuckles, but Edge ducks it and nails the Edge-cution form behind, followed by the Buzzkiller onto a steel chair, and the ref counts 1,2,3!!!  Winner and once again IC Champ, Edge!

*Backstage, HHH and Stone Cold talk about the upcoming tag match.  Austin seems pre-occupied with Hollywood Hogan and the n.W.o., saying it was partially his fault for allowing them into the WWF.  HHH says not to worry about that right now, he has a chance to get another WWF Title shot, and HHH sure doesn’t want to lose his shot at Wrestlemania.

5 – Rock vs. ??? (n.W.o. member)

Rock’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring, and then awaits the n.W.o.  The n.W.o. music plays and out walks Hall and Nash.  Nash is dressed in his wrestling attire, so the Rock motions for him to just bring it!  The two of them then stop on the ramp and just kind of point and laugh at the Rock.  The Rock seems pissed, and he leans over the ropes and tells Nash to get down here.  Just then, someone jumps the railing and into the ring…. It’s X-Pac!!!  He hits a spinning heel kick on the Rock from behind and blasts Rock with multiple kicks and chops as Hall and Nash walk down to the ring.  Hall blasts the Rock in the head with a chair and then X-Pac does the X-Factor on a chair to the Rock.  Hall tells the ref to count the pin or he’ll hit him with a chair, so the ref obliges.  The n.W.o. music begins to play… and it’s apparent that X-Pac is n.Wo.!!!! The fans can’t believe it… just then the Undertaker’s music cuts off the n.W.o. theme and here comes the ‘Taker on his bike!!! The n.Wo. is shocked, and when the bike gets around to where JR and the King are, the n.W.o. beat it up the ramp.  ‘Taker enters the ring and picks up the Rock, and then looks like he’s going to chokeslam him!  But he simply tosses him into one corner of the ring and looks at him.  The Rock, although badly beaten… looks as if he would fight the ‘Taker right then and there.  The ‘Taker simply shakes his head and gets back on his bike and leaves.  The Rock looks quite bewildered, and JR and the King are speechless.  JR also wonders where Hollywood Hogan was in all this mess?!?

*Angle and Jericho talk strategy and what is needed to win the match coming up. (cut to commercial)

6 – Stone Cold & HHH vs. Kurt Angle & Chris Jericho

Ric Flair announces that he is the special guest referee for this match!  Whooooo!!!!

Angle and Jericho make their way down, and HHH does also.  As Stone Cold makes his way out of the locker rooms, here comes Hulk Hogan with a shovel, and he breaks it over Stone Cold’s head!!!  Austin appears to be knocked out!  Hogan continues to beat on him, kicking him in the ribs.  Hogan then smiles at the camera and waves goodbye, leaving Austin on the floor.  HHH sees all this on the TitanTron, and can’t believe the odds he now faces.  The match begins and it is basically a handicap match now.  Angle dominates and he and Jericho tag in and out several times.  Angle whips HHH to the ropes and goes for a clothesline, but HHH ducks and Angle clotheslines Flair out of the ring!  Angle then hits the Olympic Slam, and goes for the pin, but Flair is nowhere to make the count!  Angle goes outside to revive Flair, and Stephanie comes from the crowd and runs into the ring!  Just then, Austin comes stumbling down the ramp… bleeding badly and looking like hell.  Stephanie grabs HHH and tells Y2J to hit him, but HHH ducks and Jericho lays out Steph!!!  HHH spins around and hits the Pedigree on Jericho!  Just then, Angle sees Austin, and he tackles him to the arena floor.  Flair shakes off the cobwebs and rolls into the ring as HHH covers Jericho….1….2…..3!!!!   HHH and Stone Cold have won the match.  Angle sees what has happened and gets back into the ring, nailing HHH with another Olympic Slam and then stares down Ric Flair with his eyes filled with rage as security and officials run down to the ring.  They restrain Angle as JR reminds us that Stone Cold gets another shot at Y2J  next week on RAW.  As Jericho exits the ring, he sees the near-helpless Ausitn on the floor and gets a couple of kicks in before security chases him off as well!  (end of show)
