Where can I download

I was reading Shaun Assael's "Sex, Lies and Headlocks" yesterday at Barnes and Noble, and I don't fee like going there again today to finish it up. So I am searching for a place to pirate the book online? Is anyone aware of such a place?

Kazaa has some stuff. You can download books that have been scanned into PDF files.

 

But it might be hard for you to find what you're looking for. If you want a book from a popular novelist, like, for example, Stephen King or Tom Clancy, you'll probably find what you're looking for. Otherwise, you might be up the creek.

 

But still, you could try your luck with a file sharer like Kazaa.

Thanks for the reply Vyce. I use WinMX, which is similar to Kazaa, but I was unable to locate the title there. I wasn't sure if there was some secret place on the web where this stuff can be found. I guess I'll have to keep on checking.

There's a web site where I downloaded the 4 Harry Potter books, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and all the Dune novels. I didn't bookmark it, but I'll see if I can find it again.

 

They're all in text format, which sucks if you'll be reading on your monitor, but if you have a PDA, they make good subway reading if you have a long commute to work. The Harry Potters were scanned & OCR'd, so there are a few scattered typos, but they're pretty good for the most part. Haven't started on the Dunes yet.

Your nntp server should have some e-book newsgroups that usually have around a hundred e-books posted a day. Make a request and more than likely what you want will be posted in a few days.

Hmm. That's interesting. I should check Google Groups then (I could always use more subway reading).

 

EDIT: well, fuck. It's alt.binaries.e-books, which Google doesn't carry. Oh, well. You'll have to use your Usenet server.
