Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted December 16, 2002 sorry if no one realized that, i thought it had been fairly obvious, but apparently not. had a pm from one participant asking about the details of how to collect his winnings. this is just for the "i'm a smart smarkie" bragging rights, people, there is unfoprtunately no hard cash to be won! anyway, on with the results ... most people made a winning this month, as it was a fairly predicatble show. the smart smark (which i think is a double positive and thus cancel itself out, but hey) picks league table for december now runs as follows: 1--kotzenjunge - $1,500 (damn you sick boy... damn you) 2--deputyhawk - $1,300 (come the royal rumble, i will holduh you downuh!) 3--paranoid - $1,000 (dude, it was you who came up with the rules in the first place, you can't go changing them now - i was leniant & just took your $350 bet on angle down to the maximum $250, but consider yourself on probation mister. heh.) 4--paul stanley - $1,000 (last month's leader stays where he is, right on tripper, but wrong on show) 5--shooter jay - $1,000 (the best of the newbies, but you're lucky maven/nowinski didn't happen otherwise you'd have been DQ'd for overspending. and your "is it for real money?" question was SILLY. you're on probation too, dammit!) 6--blachuuh monkey - $950 (even though you unnecessaily picked angle to win by DQ, which he didn't, i still gave you the pick because your screen name rules. congrats. you're still on mini-probabtion, though. i don't know what that means.) 7--kingpk - $900 8--canadianchris - $900 9--canadianchick - $900 10-bps21 - $800 11-dj jeff - $800 12-tpww7 - $800 13-midnight_burn - $700 14-hollywood spike jenkins - $700 15-naturalbornthriller 4:20 - $600 16-sandman 9000 - $600 17-africanamerican - $500 18-annie eclectic - $400 19-bravesfan - $200 the original orange goblin was disqualified for trying to slip a $650 bet through for his maximum of $500 anglesault, the superstar, mixxmaster & ignatz belzner are all cut for failing to place bets. with the card being somewhat easy to call this month, there's now only one place available for january's game, so i'll maybe expand the syndicate up to 25. but no requests in advance please, just wait until the next thread goes up as soon as the final rumble card is announced. okay, that's it for now, congrats to everyone who made money ... imaginary money shooter jay. like monopoly. Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted December 16, 2002 WHO BE BAD NOW??? And it's Puke Boy, not Sick Boy. Sick Boy would be Krankenjunge. (waits for some troll to register with that name a la Anglesalt a few months ago) Damn, I RULE this, so why can't I make football picks this well? Oh yeah, because the NFL is even screwier than WWE. Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted December 16, 2002 ... imaginary money shooter jay. like monopoly. Rik: "Hey guys, wouldn't it be great if all this money were real?" Vyvian: "Rik, that is the single most predictable and BORING thing that anyone can say whilst playing Monopoly." Rik: "Well, I could say 'Vyvian', couldn't I? That'd be rather boring..." (he trails off, Vyvian reads off a Community Chest card) Vyvian: "You have won second place in a beauty contest..." (Rik laughs) Vyvian: "Smash Rik in the head with the bank." Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted December 16, 2002 Ah geez man, I'm sorry ok? You didn't need to jump all over me like that. When you're broke, you get delusional...oh well, back to sperm donation for me then.
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted December 16, 2002 I would've doubled my money, if WWE hadn't gone and DONE THE RIGHT THING for once by having Angle go over Show.
Guest AfricanAmerican Report post Posted December 16, 2002 should make people bet on every match not hard to put all your money on the two most obvious choices to win ya kno...
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted December 16, 2002 I bet on every match except the Albert/Edge match. What are you getting at?
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted December 16, 2002 Couple of suggestions, just considering them are fine... --each poster must place bets on at least a set percent of the confirmed matches. (50-75% of the matches for a given PPV?) --stay-overs (people who survive a month) should be rewarded with a few extra bucks. What's the point of someone sticking around with $100-400.00 for months on end, when you could just go bankrupt, and start anew with $500.00? Just a thought. Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted December 16, 2002 It doesn't matter if you get nearly every bet wrong like I did. Just put the max on HHH and you'll always walk out making a profit.
Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted December 17, 2002 noticed these problems this time around too. what i may do is make the maximum bet on an individual match $100 instead of $250, and maybe make everyone bet on every match like bravesfan suggested. giving extra cash to people who survive is a good idea too, will consider it. thanks for the suggestions guys, will try to perfect the process as much as i can in time for month three, where i may also run a bonus higher stakes round for anyone who wants to put money on the final four in the rumble, with winnings for that one being doubled or some such. any other feedback appreciated too. cheers, dh. p.s.- anyone have any ideas of the legalities and technicalities and whatnot of actually making this for real money? maybe shooter jay was onto something..... Guest bravesfan Report post Posted December 17, 2002 p.s.- anyone have any ideas of the legalities and technicalities and whatnot of actually making this for real money? maybe shooter jay was onto something..... Technicality #1: I don't have money. I'd be surprised if anyone would put stock (i.e. money) into anything the WWE is currently booking. Questionable calls like: --HBK's title reign --TBS ending Brock's streak --Albert receiving a push
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted December 17, 2002 I got an idea for the Rumble: Everyone pick a number from 1-30 and put, like, $100 on it. You get 5-1 odds (you win $500) if your number is the entrant that wins the whole thing.
Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted December 17, 2002 kingpk, i think that picking a number between 1-30 with 5-1 odds is too random and detracts from the art of reading the promotion and predicting winners based off of that. something like guessing the final four would take more skill, imo. the money thing wasn't entirely serious, but still - if anyone has any thoughts on setting up an independent pay-pal deal or some such, pm me about it. just kidding. but seriously, do.
