Have any of you ever backyard wrestle?

Recommended Posts

Guest Insanityman

Hmmm... I'm not in an official backyard but I fake wrestle all the time with my friends. I also fight for real in a poser fight club, with kids on my school.

You guys?

I occasionally fuck around with a few friends, and I'm trying to get a pseudo-backyard fed going next spring. **awaits the flaming**

I fully plan on getting some training and trying to get booked on local indy shows up here in New England.

When I was in high school I made a lot of video projects that had a lot of backyard stuff in it. Chair shots, pan shots, table spots, and blading were all involved but I stopped when I got a pretty wicked concussion.

Well, I was in a backyard fed, we named it Underground Championship Wrestling. It started Dec 2000, ended August 2001. We didn't have enough time to continue the fed. Best fucking year of my life.

i'm in a pseudo-backyard fed, the columbia county wrestling federation, which consists of me and 3 or 4 other guys. it's usually a summer or holiday project, when we're all around. we pretty much only do one a year, but it's a ton of fun. i'm 'the stallion' aaron freeman, & currently the canadian champion. i have the title (which is a weight belt with a brownie pan on it) somewhere in my closet.

the wrestling is bad, but the whole thing is masterminded by a journalism student who has some pretty good editing equipment, and he makes the BADDEST ASS VIDEO PACKAGES EVER. he did 2 on the last pay-per-view, and they both looked so professional it was scary. were it not for the shitty wrestling footage he had to draw from, i swear they could've easily passed for high-quality wwf videos.

he also put together a "please don't try this at home" commercial featuring all of us backyard wrestlers, and words can't describe how brilliant it was.

I used to do that in 7th and 8th grade. It was pretty fun. We had the Mon Valley Wrestling Federation(MVWF). I was the Hardcore Champion for over a year under the name Cshaz(pronounced Shaaz). i retired and became "the manager of champions" D.J. Drake and got my new destruction of War named Rieko to destroy the MVWF Heavyweight Champion War Machine at our final show which was held at out Middle School Gym.

I was involved with a few backyard federations in years past. I started out with WTWF (Washington Township Wrestling Federation) for two years and then moved on to THW (True Hardcore Wrestling) for about a year. I was the main commentator for the matches, but I never stepped foot in the ring. We had to fold because of legal reasons, but we did produce two wrestlers that are currently working for CZW: Chris Cash and GQ.

i used to mess around with a few of my friends back in 10th grade. we never really had a fed, we just did it after school was over in empty classrooms and halls etc. i am pretty small, like 5 foot 7, and took a lot of nice looking bumps, and sold them well. a lot of people would see me getting slammed into a locker or something and they would think i was seriously hurt, but then i would hop right back up and they would realize its fake. but i stopped after i got actually hurt when i got my head slammed into a street light pole. i was slammed into it so quickly that i didnt have the time to put my hands up, and i went into the pole and my head cracked into it. about two seconds later i had a golf ball size bump sticking out of the side of my forehead, and i realized that it was the end of me doing stupid shit like that. i would like to actually get trained. i applied to go to a wrestling camp, iron mike sharpe's i believe, back a couple summers ago, but i signed up too late. if he does it again i will sure as hell jump at the opportunity.

Some friends and I had a really small backyard fed going with a ghetto ring made from big posts and water hoses, IIRC. I managed and got beat up, sucked at it too.

My best friend and the mastermind behind it has gone on to be trained and works Indy here in SC mostly.

I called a promotion that used to work in NYC about being a wrestler. I have the size, but I need a lot of conditioning before I step into the ring.

I ran a fed called KAW for a few years. Pretty fun stuff even though we sucked. Earlier this year actually we changed it to BMW and started doing almost all mat wrestling and shoot style. Everyone lost interest. I might be getting trained sometime in 2003 at Slamtech in Rhode Island.

One of my best friends got trained by Slamtech, and he hated every minute of it. Bob Evans is a total dick to the students. On top of that, I could probably out-work him (my friend, not Bob) with only my amateur/martial arts training.

The Chaotic Training Center, in Andover MA is pretty damn good, they can make pretty much anyone into a wrestler, but its expensive there/

With all this talk about backyard wrestling- we need to get Stevie Ray in here

i KNEW i wasn't the only one who saw that ricki lake episode.

those were stupid fuckers on the show, and it's people like that who are the reason i don't like to call our fed "backyard wrestling." cause we don't do dumb garbage shit like that, we just flop around on a trampoline & tell stories.

I know its stressed by ALL wrestlers, as well as most smarks, but it is seriously imperative that you know what your doing out there.

Back in '97, myself and all my friends were HUGE marks. We thought WWF was the real deal, we thought HBK was a REAL asshole plotting against The Hitman (ahh....yeah), we believed everything the wrestling world churned out and were TOTALLY over-taken by the whole nWo craze and were so obsessed with wrestling, we decided to get into it ourselves.

Being marks however, we thought wrestling was a real one-on-one fight, and we simulated this in OUR matches - i.e We REALLY hit one another as hard as we could etc.

We had our own stables etc. I remember being the leader of the nWo, Kevin Nash (I was very tall for my age at the time, and my friends believed i held an uncanny resemblace to the guy, besides at the time i loved him) and i had my own legion of lackeys to take on some of my other friends, collectively known as the Four Horsemen.

The result - Some VERY nasty spots which almost killed us, namely real life back body drops where i landed SQUARE on my neck and heard every bone crack (surprisingly i got up un-affected), shoot submission holds which had most of us in agony for weeks (Damn that figure four leglock) and full-forced power-bombs, which were my specialty (me being the only one strong enough to execute the move. Fortunately my friends were TOUGH bastards and could take it).

Moral of the story - DONT FUCKING WRESTLE, it's crazy and fucks you up if you mess up for just one instant. But i respect the fact that you, CoreyLazarus416, have the deceny and intelligence to get into some serious training. Very mature move.

Illusion - Can still walk, suprisingly

And now that we've had our nagging of the day...

:D

**fucks-up a standing Phoenix Splash, lands on head, and then his lawyer files suit against WWE, despite the fact that the Phoenix Splash has never been done in WWE, because "all wrestling is the same."**

I was in a BYW fed. It was HCW, you can find some of our clips on Kazaa. All we did was shitty mat work and we had this one kid who would fall off roofs threw tables. We closed down cuz a few kdis went to college. But we will send the fed of on this new years :headbang: .

I backyarded for a while. We all really sucked and didn't even try to wrestle, choosing instead to beat on each other with whatever we found in our garages instead. I threw my friend around mostly.

We didn't bump much, but we did do some good ones, just not always on purpose. I tried to press the above mentioned friend over my head, only to drop him head-first onto a chair instead, k.o.ing him legit. He was PISSED at me after. I took a bump onto a chair covered in tacks, which kinda sucked, and I was also k.o.ed by a nasty chairshot from a different friend.

We never officially stopped, but we just stopped caring. We just wrestle occasionally, but it's usually legit wresting and doesn't mean anything. However, two years ago, after we got about a foot and a half of snow in one night, on top of a couple of feet of snow that was already on the ground, we busted out an eight-foot ladder and just threw each other around. We didn't get hurt too bad, but it was fun, and about the last time we ever really wrestled.

I had a very bad experience with a small backyard (or living room) wrestle around 6 years back. Basically i was standing on the couch where my friend makes a lunatic dash at me (spear style). Just as he aprroaches me, due to my height advantage on the couch I stoop down and clutch his standing, buckled over body in a dominator position, without thinking I dropped to my knees and CRACK! A brutally sonorous crack came from my friends back as I fall to the couch. The fact that we were all 10 at the time didnt help, he was crying really badly and needless to say I was freaked out that I had crippled my friend. Thank God he was alright in a couple of days.

I've been backyard wrestling since I was 15 (I'm 20 now) and have encountered some pretty bad injuries in my time. I've broken 3 fingers, and my thumb, broke my nose, broke my ankle, and my worst injury was a fractured pelvis that I encounted from being 3D'd through a table that DIDN'T break on impact. My friends pulled out the wrong table and I wound up in severe pain. I haven't wrestled a match since July (the table incident), but I plan on getting trained at the JAPW academy in Bayonne, NJ, sometime after the new year. We wrestled for the BWF back in 1998-2000, then the JWA from 2001-present in Jersey, and have made appearances in the MHW and the NRF, both based up in Rock Tavern, NY. Our crowds varied from 2 in the very beginning, all the way up to 50 people for our Summer of Hate show in August 2001. This year hasn't been too stupendous for us, due to the town shutting us down here in Jersey, so we go wrestle for the NRF whenever we can.

Way back when, I was the Amsterdam Wrestling Alliance champion as Dr Sexy. I cut some pretty nice promos, the wrestling sucked though.

The extent of my wrestling has been weapons shots to the head that I know I can take without actually being hurt (thin baking pans - not as thin as WWE's, books, worked blunt object hits) and faking submission moves. When I was on Academic Team during high school, we'd seriously fuck up every hotel room we stayed in thanks to our wrestling escapades. I Rock Bottomed all new team members, and we always made sure to do everything on the beds. We had a streak where we broke beds on six straight trips, the most spectacular being when my friend tried something he called the Swiss Army Knife. He jumped off of a chair and in midair shifted to land on his side while making his body look like said knife. The wooden supports of the bed totally disintegrated. Sometimes we'd take the supports that we'd knocked out but not actually broken and prop them up on the beds with books holding them up to make a table of sorts. I was always the one to take the massive bumps and weapons shots.

Good Times.

I Just fuck around with a few friends and my brother in our basement and on a trampoline. We recorded a 4 way hardcore match and the wrestling was okay.. the highspot was when we stole a neighboor's folding table (his garage was open) and I got to powerbomb my brother's friend through it.

I have started taking Tang Soo Do and i have already started looking into several wrestling schools. I worked from the summer of my sophmore year in high school until.... well i am still working. I will graduate high school and still be 17 so i will work the summer and then go to college. Hopefully by then all of that workin will have given me enough money to use towards wrestling school.... but i donno.
