Guest Redhawk Report post Posted December 17, 2002 FSU's Rix declared ineligible for bowl game ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ESPN.com news services TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State quarterback Chris Rix was declared ineligible for the Nokia Sugar Bowl on Tuesday for failing to take a final exam. He will not play against Georgia on Jan. 1. Rix regained his starting job Nov. 30 against Florida after Adrian McPherson was kicked off the team and led the 9-4 Seminoles to a 31-14 win over the Gators. McPherson was kicked off the team Nov. 25 for his involvement in a check writing scam that led to arrest on felony and misdemeanor charges the next week. Rix did not practice with the team Tuesday. So who is FSU's 3rd-stringer? I figured Georgia would beat the Seminoles anyway (FSU tailback Greg Jones is hurt too), but now what? I'm thinking 30-13 or something. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted December 17, 2002 Ahahahaha... It doesn't really matter who's QBing, because poor FSU's going to get obliterated.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted December 17, 2002 Bowden said sophomore Fabian Walker from Americus, Ga., would start when the Seminoles (9-4) play the Bulldogs (12-1). Matt Henshaw becomes No. 2 and wide receiver Anquan Boldin, a high school quarterback, would be third string. Walker played in three games, completing 5 of 8 passes for 74 yards. Why couldn't Maryland beat North Carolina St.? Then they would be playing Georgia..WHY WHY WHY?
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted December 18, 2002 And the ACC was looking so much better at the beginning of the year. Does this conference just see "FSU" on their schedule and automatically roll over?
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted December 18, 2002 Kinda like the Big East rolling over for Miami?
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted December 18, 2002 Something like that, yeah.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted December 18, 2002 Miami and Florida St have alot more talent than anyone else in the Big East or ACC.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 18, 2002 He mixed his Exam? Big Deal...they said it was a family issue...give the guy a break.
Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted December 19, 2002 The ACC is such a dreadful football conference. I think there really should be a common sense look at this stuff, so if you have someone lame like FSU win the ACC with a 9-4 record then another team can get into the BCS. Wouldn't Notre Dame vs. Georgia be a much cooler matchup? Or Kansas St. Georgia?
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted December 19, 2002 He mixed his Exam? Big Deal...they said it was a family issue...give the guy a break. Missing a final is a big deal, assuming that missing said final caused Rix to fail the course. I'm sure that's why he's ineligible, because his grade point average will now be below standard. And he said he overslept due to the stress of the family situation, which sounds like bullshit. I've gone through hella family drama but was still able to wake up. Guest I *heart* Stacy Report post Posted December 19, 2002 FSU wasn't winning this game, anyway. It's good for me, because I already had money with Georgia giving only 2.
Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted December 19, 2002 Overslept for an exam? I feel for the guy. As a university student, that is one of my worst nightmares, either that, or forgetting to drop a course, and remember I am still taking it on the day of the final exam. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted December 20, 2002 He's suppose to be a good student, but the rules are the rules. This gives FSU a chance to get Walker playing time so Rix has some competion next spring. FSU needs to make a push toward D.J. Shockley who said he might tranfer if he doesn't get more playing time.
