Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted December 18, 2002 Well, right now, I have a HUGE PROBLEM with my PC. My sister just started up the PC, and for some weird reason... -It asks for a Windows Password to log into Windows. I never put that on. -The resolution is all messed up, 640X480. Plus, the colors are at 16 bit. I changed it. It said the PC needed to restart to put the changes into effect. When it restarted and came back, NO CHANGES. -The mouse pointer has disappeared completely. Basically, I have been TABbing my way here. I have restarted the PC more than 5 times, and nothing has changed. PLEASE HELP.
Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted December 18, 2002 Restart your computer, and while the "Windows loading" screen is visable press F8 repeatedly. This will bring you into "safe mode". Change your resolution/color depth, then go start-programs-accesories-system tools-disk cleanup. Delete all those unnecessary files and reboot. Best I can offer ya... Guest Razor Roman Report post Posted December 19, 2002 What version of Windows?
Guest DrTom Report post Posted December 20, 2002 The password box normally comes up after a networking component is installed. Hitting ESC will get rid of it. Try reloading your video drivers or getting the latest version off the internet to fix the resolution problem. It's too bad the 9X series doesn't have NT/2000's VGA mode, since I don't think Safe Mode allows you to exceed basic VGA (640x480) resolution. Make sure your mouse is connected and there are no errors associated with it in Device Manager.
