Guest pappajacks Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating a Christian push. A well organized federation should not push someone like Christian in singles competition. BUT, this is the WWE we are talking about. Christian has more wrestling skills and mic skills than Big Show and A-Train combined. He proved himself in the tag division (multi-time tag team champion with two different partners) and has won every other minor title. He has been in Edge's shadow for a long time, but has shown that he doesn't need Edge to receive heat from the fans (he was even more over with the fans during the KOTR ceremony than Edge was). He was by far the only guy in the Unamericans that received any heat. Will he be stuck in the tag team division forever or can we expect a push for Christian in singles competition in the upper mid card level? I wouldn't mind seeing him feud with Booker or RVD.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Why shouldn't a well organized fed push someone like Christian?
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I'd be more up for a Hurricane/Shane Helms push, and if they moved him back to SD it would be all the better
Paul Stanley Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 To the point: Christian isn't a HOSS~! So there's no pushing
Guest pappajacks Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I knew the Hoss comment was coming. But now that Jericho is hinting on returning to singles competition, I don't want to see Christian being stucked with a 3rd partner and win the tag team belts another 5 times. Now is his time or never.
Guest blachuuh_monkey Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I like Christian but there are about 15 or so guys with more charisma, mic skills, and in ring ability that are at his level or slightly above him that should get pushed 1st so I doubt it happens. He has also shown in the time he has been a singles wrestler that he is not very good in that department from an in ring standpoint and should remain in the tag division if they found him the right partner. I would like to see him matched up with Lance Storm as Christian's goofiness and Storm's serious would probably make for a really good mix. They also are both better in tag wrestling and Storm really needs to get rid of Regal as his partner.
Guest CanadianChick Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Christian should go to Smackdown. He has done everything he will be able to do on RAW
Patty O'Green Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I'm a little biased because Christian is my favorite wrestler, but I'd say Christian is the perfect guy to push as a singles computer for the WWE. He's decent on the mic, he gets a fair amount of heat for a sidekick. He also does a good job of wrestling the WWE style, plus he was trained in the WWE developmental system so he's also home grown. They love that! He also doesn't have a goofy gimmick holding him back. Unfortunately there is no other singles title on RAW, so he might just end up like Jeff Hardy or RVD, randomly teaming with various wrestlers who also have nothing else to do. But, I'd say hanging around the first ever undisputed champion and feuding with two of the most popular faces on RAW not named RVD is a pretty decent push.
Guest blachuuh_monkey Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Christian is right where he should be at this point in time as far as I'm concerned.
Guest AndrewTS Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 He's little. But he works "WWE style." But...he's little.
ChrisMWaters Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I would LOVE to see a Christian push. He's the more talented of the "brothers".
Guest bravesfan Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Obviously I want to see a Christian push... I mean, who doesn't love 5-minute chinlocks?
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 So "more talented" these days is using an insane amount of restholds? Christian is and should always be a tag wrestler because unlike Edge, he's just not good enough to be carried to good-to-great matches. Hell, I'd advocate an serious RVD push long before I'd push Christian.
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Christian's not that good in singles matches, which most of them consist of punching, stomping, chinlocks, reverse headlock moves, and the Unprettier. This week was the hardest he's probably worked in a while though as he did work over Goldust's arm, though the psychology did seem flawed because the Unprettier affects the head. Other than that, Christian's strengths come through his mic skills and comedy, but Jericho, Booker T, Benoit, Guerrero, Angle, Edge, Rey Mysterio, etc. can wrestle better than him.
Guest Ram Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I figure Christian just hasn't had enough time to develop himself in the singles division. If they wanted to test him, give him some time alone out there and let him adjust. Don't jump the gun and expect masterwork.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Since the breakup of Edge & Christian, I've always said that the WWE should push both men, and not just one. Well, so far, I've seen them pushing Edge. I will admit that Edge is the better wrestler of the two, but still. Give Christian some time, and he could get up to Edge's level. I'd love to see a Christian push.
Guest Rob Edwards Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I figure Christian just hasn't had enough time to develop himself in the singles division. If they wanted to test him, give him some time alone out there and let him adjust. Don't jump the gun and expect masterwork. Exactly, outside the Edge matches he's barley been given any matches over 5 minutes to work with
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Christian would be lost on Smackdown, especially with Matt Hardy (same character, better wrestler) being there.
Guest Olympic Slam Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I used to be a huge fan of Christian but his ring work the last five months has left much to be desired. Punch, choke, punch, chinlock, punch, more choking, reverse DDT, reverse DDT into the knee, even longer chinlock, choke, punch, unprettier. Truly thrilling stuff. He and Storm have dropped like bricks on my list of "favorite workers."
Patty O'Green Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I think one of the reasons Edge has become so good is because he's gotten the chance to work singles matches and do programs with great workers and learn from that. Christian has gotten no such opportunities. The last high profile singles match he had was from WMX8 against DDP. I'm sure if given the chance that Edge had, Christian would succeed as well.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Edge was always the better wrestler, even in the Edge & Christian days. Christian was the better one on the mic.
Guest dreamer420 Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Christian is good in tags but as a singles wrestler he sucked. Remember after his breakup with Edge? I wish I didn't.
Guest Renegade Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 Wasnt Christian's last push against Edge killed because he did some backstage bitching?
Guest Ravenbomb Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 he's had three, not two. Edge, Lance Storm and Jericho
Guest the 1inch punch Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 Wasnt Christian's last push against Edge killed because he did some backstage bitching? Yes it was
