Do you use a database for your comics?

I set up a database to organize my comics collection a long, long time ago, using Microsoft Works, but I don't feel like digging up those 5 1/4" floppies. I was thinking of putting together a cool one in Access. Do any of you have something like this?

While not for comics, I use databases to keep track of my library and my porn collection (split into three seperate sub-databases for that). I was thinking of doing something similar for keeping track of what wine I have down in the cellar, but thus far I don't really have enough to get confused.

 

I can see where a database would be a nice thing to have for a comic collection, especially if you're always on the lookout for holes to fill in it.

I want to do sumthin like that, but right now the closest thing is an Excel file with a month by month list of "What im picking".

 

Sadly, now that I have I dunno, more than 1000 (OK, I know probably you guys got more than that.) comics, the database will take me several days to fill....

 

...thinkin 'bout it, it's a good proposal for 2003, so maybe I'll began to create my database, after all, my career is related to database software.

Im not sure, I've to check if the other PC got Access or another program.

Nope.

 

I just put 'em in piles. One pile for Batman and DC, one for Darkhorse, Image and any other American comics I have, and one for Manga.

 

When the piles get to high, I put them in a box and start over.

Access97. Let's just say that my knowledge of visual basic is such that I can barely do what I want with my databases. I'm assuming that the more recent versions would be easier to use, but I've yet to upgrade. And I've yet to find any database software that's better.

It took me a very long time but I did set up a database for *all* of my comic books which I update routinely.

 

The thing was a bitch to do but I think the results will prove that it was worth it all.
