winner: HBK like this would ever happen, but HBK retires Warrior. The wwf uses this to illustrate Shawn beat the man Hogan beat. Hogan still makes the nWo in wcw which would work, but not as much since he already turned heel in 1989. Shawn would also have been on a year and a half reign giving him some much needed hype. Shawn is also his 1998 DX style character to combat the "cool" nWo.

 

The wwf is stretching here I admit.

Royal Rumble 1997

We get champion vs. champion and Texan vs. Texan

First ever Title for Title match

WWF Champion HBK vs. Steve Austin I-C Champion

Shawn is closing in on a 2 year title reign and Austin is hot on his tracks.

The winner: Ladies and Gentlemen I crown the new Era with Steve Austin in front of the dome crowd and milk it that Austin is the new generation star!  Instead of giving the rub Warrior got in 1990, I give it to Steve Austin in his hometown.

Austin gives up the I-C title and the seeds of going against authority begin. The title is held up for the Royal Rumble.

 

Royal Rumble winner: Bret Hart

The rematch is set for WrestleMania 13. By this time Shawn is driven to the ground and had the most awesome workrate title reign ever. He passed the torch to Austin in his hometown crowd. So we don't get that crappy "lost my smile" fiasco.

WWF Title vs. I-C Title

Get this I change things by making Vince Mcmahon actually back Bret Hart as against the "Attitude" Era. Mcmahon/Austin start at WM 13.

Of course I stick with Austin/Bret and the finish. Austin doesn't lose his strap because he never quit. Hart doesn't lose his title because he never lost. So both titles remain on its respective champion.

I keep both titles on Austin and Bret because at this time it is their show.
