Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted December 24, 2002 I don't really want to start a new thread about this, so in this thread my question will go: What's the big deal about Phish?
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted December 24, 2002 Just about anything that's really good, orchestrated. Alot of other songs. I'm always making little "video packages" or "trailers" for stories I'm working with when I'm listening to music. Especially when I'm driving alone, late at night or something. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 24, 2002 I don't really want to start a new thread about this, so in this thread my question will go: What's the big deal about Phish? I've actually tried to figure this out by asking a couple hippies I know. No reason other than "Trey can do some amazing things on the guitar," or "Their songs are really good," or "I dunno, I just like them a lot." The second two are pretty subjective, but I've always found Anastasio's guitar work to be really bland. Just errant picking around, a bend here or there. Of course, every jam band I've ever bothered to listen to has either struck me as boring, like Phish, or irritating, like String Cheese Incident. Every local jam band I've ever seen has just plain sucked.
Guest caboose Report post Posted December 24, 2002 I've been listening to Creed's Weathered for the last few days. Before I borrowed the CD from my friend, I had only heard 'My Sacrifice', which didn't do anything much for me. But the rest of the album is very entrenching. So much so that I listened to it on Repeat for about 4 hours without realising yesterday.

Guest snuffbox Report post Posted December 24, 2002 The deal with Phish... Well, in context to the 'lose yourself' topic here, I think it has alot to do, for me personally, with the atmospheric soundscape and feel of the music. I for one enjoy the songs, studio and live recordings(and list Phish as one of the bands I most want to see!). I like the lyrics, the singing, and the guitar. I find the music very enjoyable and easy to 'lose myself' with. A few suggestions to check out...'Farmhouse' 'If I Could' 'Gin and Juice(Snoop Cover)'
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted December 25, 2002 i forgot to mention NOFX. They are the ULTIMATE singalong band, after seeing them live i couldn't talk for about an hour, because i was screaming every word. I don't know how they do it, but they shit in the mouths of every band that's tried to pull off the same vibe ever since.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 28, 2002 Morbid Angel: Gateways to Annihilation is currently caving my skull in. godDAMN this is a mean fucker. Groggy riffs that are like quicksand, and then they speed up once in a while, which is them just basically pushing your head under the surface.
