Which one of these promotions had the best cage matches.

I've never cared for WWF/E's escape the cage rules and was especially bitter when Hogan brought those stupid rules to WCW with him. Now other WCW cage matches rocked because they were brutal, violent matches that you knew were happening because those involved hated each other so much (in storylines of course).

Hell in the Cell and Wargames are the best

the blue steel cage matches of WWF in general were blah except the Brett vs Owen one.

NWA/WCW/JCP had the best

mostly before the name change

i hate those WWF blue cages/any type of escape rules

never made sense

"wreslter A, i hate you so much i want to beat you by running away"

and

"well, to let these two settle the score were going to require the interefering heels have to climb a little or punk out some 98 pound referee and take the key"

has to be pinfall..has to have a roof

WCW def.

It seems like in NWA/WCW the cage match was the true blowoff to any feud.

On my Best of Starrcade 83-87 tape it seems like there are 8,000 cage matces on there

I never liked the idea of the "leave the cage to win" deal...I'd think the purpose of the cage is so the two can have a brutal match where no one can run away and where other workers can't run in.

ECW cage matches (while I loved them) were mostly just excuses for big spots.

-Dreamers chokeslam from the cage through 3 tables

-Eliminators vs Gangstas...Saturn must have done a dozen cage dives

-And let's not forget Rocco Rock, moonsaulting onto Scorpio from the top of the cage through two tables.

I prefer the WWF/WWE cage matches. Owen/Bret was a terrific match, Piper/Rude was a great bloody brawl, and recently the matches have been getting better (with the exception of the burial of DDP and Kanyon at Summerslam 2001).

If you want to count Hell In A Cell or Wargames, they are leaps and bounds above any other cage matches out there.

I don't mind WWF style cage matches. The only thing I never really understood was the spot they always did where one guy climbs over and is hanging from the top of the cage, but gets pulled back in by his hair. I hate that spot.

even though they had the big stupid blue bars, wwf had bret/owen from summerslam 94. so they automatically win.

Tully/TA's probably the best cage match I've ever seen, not counting Wargames and HIAC.

Bret/Owen's friggin' awesome, too, although I don't like the fact that they were CONSTANTLY going for the door and the climb in that match. Sure, it was the stips, but I think that stip is retarded.

Owen Hart vs Bret Hart is the greatest, traditional cage match i have ever seen, and probably ever will.

Best cage match ever is Bret/Owen. I'll challenge that match to even the War Games. It's just that fucking awesome.

But the Wargames is just as good. It's just like sex, even if the Wargames suck, it's still good (1996).

I, too, think Owen/Bret-Summerslam 1994 was the best cage match. It just went well with the feud and the wrestling was excellent. If only Summerslam ended with that match instead of the Undertaker/Undertaker match.

And the 1998 Wargames sucked the most. It pissed on the Wargames legacy.

2 things WarGames 1998 could have had and not have been THAT terrible:

- Blood

- Not having Bret Hart "knocked out" for 10 minutes because of a gentle clip to the back of the knee. He was NEVER hit by the slapjack!

As for the WWF-style cage matches, I never understood why when the face would try to climb the cage, the heel would NEVER just try to casually slip out the door.

Also, I've always been a big fan of The Steiners vs. Money Inc. cage match on the Sunday Night Slam before SummerSlam 1993.

Bret vs. Owen is the second best cage match I have ever seen.

first is Bret vs. HBK at a house show from here in cincy. This was before Wrestlemania 10 and was the best match I have ever seen. It ruined the finish of Bret/Owen for me, because they did the exact same finish with shawns leg getting caught in the cage.
