Will Flair get one last run...

Recommended Posts

Guest pappajacks

Hogan and HBK were given the chance to have one last run. Is it too late for Flair or can it be a possibility in the near future?

I don't think he'll get one last run- cause if he was gonna get one he would've gotten it by now.

It seems like he's pretty much retired even though I'd love to see him go out wrestle someone like Angle or Benoit

I hope not. Enough with the "last run" title runs. Ric has had a great career. Why have another title run?

When he lost "ownership" of Raw, he signed on as a wrestler wanting one last shot at the title, but nothing came of it then, and now it's far too late to push him to the title.

If Vince sees money in Flair as champ then yes Flair will have one last run. If Vince doesn't see money in Flair as champ, then no Flair won't have one last run.

Vince saw money in Kane being accused of necrophilia.

Vince saw money in Jackie Gayda.

Vince saw money in pushing Bubba Ray Dudley and Bradshaw as serious contenders.

Vince saw money in Mae Young being heavily featured.

Vince saw money in putting his daughter in the main event of Wrestlemania 18.

I could go on, but you'd be blind not to see the point I'm trying to make with this.

Well I would have like to see one last run on top.

But he pretty much job to everyone a few months back.

Should have had him lose the belt and then become the manager he is now.

Yes, he will. It will begin as a simple misunderstanding between him and whoever has the title, possibly HHH. The tension will grow between them, and eventually Flair will get an out of nowhere title shot, and will "upset" whoever is the champion. He'll hold on to it for 1-3 months, keeping it with help from a possible new group of Horsemen, and will loose it when the group decides to turn on him, under the advice of another wrestler, convincing them that Flair is old news, leading to Flair becoming ONLY a manager for the rest of his career.

He'll get it, he deserves it, and if done correctly, could be one of the most emotional Pro. Wrestling angles/storylines in the history of the sport. I can just imagine his promos before the match, after winning it, and the promos as champion, and his promos after loosing the title. It could work, but only with the right opponent, and ONLY if the writing team takes the angle, and truly works on it.

It probably depends on if Flair wants one. If Flair doesn't really care about one last run I don't see WWE bothering.

If Flair really wants one last run and is giving Vince the hard sell on the idea then they will probably look into doing it for him.

Reminds me of that thread "things you'd mark out for, before realizing it was crap."

Ric is way past his prime, but he could put on a good match with a decent worker. However, since there aren't any in the main event besides HBK *cough* then it could really suck.

However, he can put on some good promos, and I'd mark out for it.

However, at least HBK and Hogan didn't have the ultra-saggy pecs like Ric does, which really kinda hurts him looking credible as champion.

How about this, who do you all think would make for a better champion, and who the fans would be more into...

...Flair, or HHH?

I don't know about you, but I say Flair. I really actually wish they would do the angle that I outlined above, it could be gold.

A Flair title run is the last thing the company needs. The nostaligia trip this past year has done nothing but hurt business. Just look at the house show numbers, buyrates, and ratings that the Hogan and HBK runs got. They need NEW players, not old ones trying to recapture past glory.

Downhome- the answer is Triple H.

Like TS said- Flair is just too saggy and old to look like a credible champion.

I actually like that plan Downhome.

I love to see Flair's victory promos.

Hes one of the few guys who keep me glued to the screen when talking.

Oh of course, we aren't denying that.

Once the Steiner program is over, do you think they will FINALLY elevate someone new..? Or use a past-his-prime star, give him a token title run, and then have HHH get the title back from him?

Of course, even if someone was elevated they'd be jobbed to HHH and shunted back down the card, but after HBK and Steiner, seeing Ric do a program with HHH would not shock me in the least.

Yeah...of course, he could wear a shirt like in the last Nitro. It'd look lousy, though.

And he's looked like that for several years and still wrestled in WCW...so who knows.

Anything that surgery could do about that?

I honestly don't think that Flair even cares if he gets a last run as Champion in WWE. One last run for Flair in WWE wouldn't have any real meaning for him so i don't think that it would be that big of a deal to him.

HBK and Hogan had reasons to want one last WWF title run and it was a meaningful thing to them. Flair doesn't really have any reason to want one.

While I agree that for the sake of business, they should be trying to get new guys out there, but with the way business is right now, having Flair as the champ for a short time would do no harm. I am sure as hell certain that it wouldn't hurt anything, and could possibly *gasp* create an interesting, emotional storyline, something RAW has missed from day one since the split.

I fully believe that if layed out properly, that Ric Flair as champion, and the angle and situation surrounding it, could equal money for WWE, and as an end result, coudl possibly end up pushing a younger guy after it's all said and done.

A valid point. Ric's always been a great storyteller, although it would be nice to give him some input into the (so-called) creative process to pull something like that off.

Too bad his son sucks so bad, or he might have been able to be used in WWE for something other than Undertaker's punching bag.

Let's talk, in theory for right now. Let's say WWE did decide to go through with making Flair the champion, in THAT case...

...how would you want to see it happen? Even if you don't want it to, if you HAD to write it out in a way to please you all, what would you have do? Would you do something like I mentioned above, or would you come up with something else.

Be serious please, I want to hear what you would really do.

I'd rather not see Flair get another run as champ, but if he did i'd have it only be a short one, probably not even a month, and he would lose to some young up and comer to put them over, because the current crop of champs, on Raw at least, don't seem to be willing to do that.

Actually Flair looks a hell of alot better than he did in the dying days of WCW. If you look closely, he regained and defined his 6-pack and tightened his pec's. The saggy/loose skin thing is just caused by age and excessive tanning.

Ideally, trade him to smackdown (Do you really think they'll adhere to no more trades?) have him get a SHOT at angle, have a proper match, lose, retire. Realistically, HHH retires him.

Now that you mention it, I believe you're right about the abs. Regardless, it does seem like something that would be a detriment to the credibility of a WWE champ, especially after Vince made such a big to-do about the youth of WWF guys a while back.

Of course, nowadays he doesn't care...but...you never know.

Maybe not roster-jumping, but trading wrestlers in exchange for others? I think we'll see more of those from time to time.

Damn, Stephanie got screwed on that last deal.
