Guest humongous2002 Posted March 7, 2002 Report Posted March 7, 2002 Is it just me or it seems that J.R. is always downplaying RVD's matches? The first time I notice him doing that was at No Way Out 2002, for the RVD and Goldust match( I know it wasn't a Flair-Steamboat classic thanks to Goldust outdated ring work)J.R. and Lawler started talking about American Pie movie trivia than the match itself. And just recently on RAW, the RVD-Lance Storm ***1/2 match, he was downplaying the match by hardly showing any interest to it(He showed more interest for a Scotty 2 Hotty and Hip Hop Hippo match!!!!)And at times he sounded bored with the RVD-Storm match.Either he's getting old and loosing his play by play skills or it's true to the rumors that there's a conflict between him and Heyman behind the scenes? And since RVD is Heyman's boy he is trying to make him look bad by downplaying RVD's matches????
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 7, 2002 Report Posted March 7, 2002 I agree that JR isn't pushing RVD in his commentary...and it's quite funny to see him push Test everytime he has a match... IN FACT: If there is one good thing about Micheal Cole's announcing it is the fact that he is an RVD mark. Cole shills for RVD like JR shills for Test. It doesn't really matter though...RVD doesn't need JR telling everyone how great he is to get over.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted March 7, 2002 Report Posted March 7, 2002 I feel JR has lost his good ole boy credibility. He is now a corporate sell out. I guess him joining the Kiss Vince's Ass Club was really a shoot.
Guest Human Fly Posted March 7, 2002 Report Posted March 7, 2002 JR is going to do what Vince tells him to do. Vince signs his checks. I'm sure all of you do what your boss tells you to do. We're all just as much corporate sell-outs as JR.

Guest Human Fly Posted March 7, 2002 Report Posted March 7, 2002 I hear all the announcers shill for Test, it's not just limited to JR
Guest WildPegasusXXII Posted March 7, 2002 Report Posted March 7, 2002 oh, god...another "conspiracy" to add to the list...how many are we up to now?
Guest the BURNHAM Posted March 7, 2002 Report Posted March 7, 2002 Personally I think conspiracy theorys make the world wholly more enjoyable... Yeh it does seem like RVD is downplayed in his matches by JR. But it kinda fits into JR's "Hoss" Mentality. I still cringe when he calls UT Booger Red. I don't care how much sense it makes in his head, it doesn't in mine...first of all it's pretty much an adjective not a noun. Saying that he is Booger red is one thing, although it doesn't make much sense at least it's more grammatically correct, and that's what really matters right?
Guest Army Eye Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Exactly. If you're a hoss, JR will all but declare you to be the next world champ. If you're not a hoss, then JR will take the time to talk about the hosses that are wrestling later in the show. This is nothing specific to RVD.
Guest Vyce Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Well yeah, RVD isn't one of "JR's boys", aka the Hosses. If you're big, act tough, and are a southern redneck (exceptions for Albert & Test), you're in JR's good book. I'm guessing RVD is downplayed because he still doesn't use the "WWF Style", which is my explanation for why RVD is actually entertaining to watch.
Guest humongous2002 Posted March 9, 2002 Report Posted March 9, 2002 "WWF style"? That's bullcrap, HBK wasn't a "hoss" and he didn't use that so-called WWF style . HBK use to do a lot of flying lucha moves and he was put over to the top by J.R. This is not a conspiracy this is reality ,on RAW J.R. was more into a Scotty 2 Hotty and Albert match, I even think he showed more interest to the women's match.
Guest converge241 Posted March 9, 2002 Report Posted March 9, 2002 Quote (Human Fly @ Mar. 07 2002,14:28) JR is going to do what Vince tells him to do. Vince signs his checks. Then why didn't he tell Cole to do the same? nobody let Cole in on it cause they figure no one listens to him anyway. Sometimes they could probably put the Just Bring It videogame commentary and not miss a beat. Jr is going to play up: 1) who vince tells him to 2) who he likes nothing wrong with that. He's not going to bury something the fans dont like, Just wont play it up as much as the "my gawd what a hoss" stuff or the "so and so's an evil no good son of a bitch" maybe he's just waiting for RVD to get "some good genietics and put a sentence together" lol
