Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted December 22, 2002 Who else saw the Indiana/Kentucky game yesterday and witnessed IU coach Mike Davis completely lose it? That was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen in a basketball game. I have no idea what made Davis run out DURING a play and damn near assault a ref, since there really wasn't a blown call or anything. As for UK they picked up a big win yesterday...next week I'm predicting my alma mater (Louisville) beats their asses. LSU also upset Arizona yesterday. It's not really that shocking since Luke Walton is injured, and LSU is 7-1. Dare I say LSU could upset Bama for the SEC west? Look up overrated and you'll see Alabama's team photo, these guys could possibly be the new #1 team and this week they beat Bowling Green by 8 and Providence by 9. That isn't exactly impressive. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted December 23, 2002 Who decided Alabama was such a great team. They lost Grizzard, and like you said struggled against B.G. and Providence.
Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted December 23, 2002 Yeah bear in mind that Bama also jobbed hard to Kent St. in the 2nd round last year, so it's not like they had some big tourney run to justify their ranking. This is going to be the year of upsets in the tourney, mark my words. More than usual anyway. There are a whole bunch of highly ranked teams that aren't that great: Bama, Pitt, Oregon. And some of the perennial teams like Duke and UConn are essentially rebuilding this year. Arizona is solid but I hardly think they are the 1996 Kentucky Wildcats. Take one guy off their team and they fold against a halfway competent opponent. I brought up Louisville in my original post because my boys so far have gone unnoticed by the national press. I am not sure why since they've been crushing people lately (admittedly jobbers). I could be wrong but I think they will stomp UK on Saturday. They've got better shooting, more depth, and Marvin Stone is now eligible so they finally have some size.
