Well, now that Lord Of The Rings:The Two Towers and Gangs Of New York have been released, and Catch Me If You Can being the only "big" release

left, I guess we can say The Year In Movies are over.

haven't seen enough this year to really judge. i'll get back on this after seeing 'adaptation', 'gangs of new york', 'thirteen conversations about one thing', et al.

 

but so far the best movie i saw this year BY FAR was 'y tu mama tambien'.

For the record, Catch me if you Can will be released early enough for awards, since it opens tommorrow.

 

Also, Black Hawk Down came out last year, and it already had it's Oscar nominations.

Among the movies I haven't seen because they haven't opened in Houston yet: Adaptation, The Hours, Narc, 25th Hour, Confessions of A Dangerous Mind, The Quiet American.

 

 

BTW, Black Hawk Down was released on Christmas week in NY and LA to qualify for awards and released in January everywhere else. That's why we all saw it in 2002, but it's a 2001 movie.
