Just got the game last night, and I have to say, I'm having a lot of fun with it. Back when MK1 first came out, I spent a lot of time in my local pizza place and wasted a lot of money on a game, that I basically sucked at. (Okay, I was decent) Anyway, I also owned the thing on SNES when someone gave me an assload of old games of theirs. But I haven't really even played it since. So I was very excited when the game came out. Then, I was a little depressed to see that Sub Zero grew old. WTF? Anyway, another thing I noticed was that I couldn't do any of the level type fatalities that I remember, like kicking them off a platform or into acid or what have you. Is there a way?

There are no "level" fatalities. Each character only has 1 type of fatality.

Ermac had been rumored to exist as far back as the original MK for arcade. It was MK1 arcade's test menu that started the rumor.

 

 

 

Sub-Zero couldn't have actually aged. It's been the same Sub-Zero since MK II and he isn't that old. The aged look must be a side effect of his dragon amulet, which gives him more power.

 

 

Reptile has been a lizard since MK II when he first took off his mask, he was just hiding it. In MK4 he looked like a lizard/human hybrid and now in DA he is even more lizard like.

 

They probably changed his look to make him more unique and to set up a major story in the next game.

 

The storyline reason is that he "de-evolves" the longer he is away from his race.

Do you think the that the next game will have some kind of big conflict between Red Dragon and Special Forces?

Yeah, definitely. I think Mavado will be back but I am pretty sure Hsu Hao will be replaced with some other Red Dragon member.

 

I'd like to see Kabal return and join the Special Forces. Mavado's Konquest sets that up perfectly.

 

Also, based on an ending and comments from John Vogel(a member of the MKDA development team) I expect the Red Dragon to start feuding with Sub-Zero's Lin Kuei Clan in the next game.

Scorpion killed the original Sub-Zero in MK1. The Sub-Zero in II, 3, 4 and DA is the younger brother, the one with the scar.

 

In Ultimate MK3 and MK Trilogy a masked Sub-Zero appeared along with the younger brother. It was thought to be the original, back from the dead, but it was NOT. It was actually "a long forgotten warrior from a past tournament". This storyline was dropped before they ever revealed who it was, very much like a typical WWE angle.

Yeah, all from the games. Anything I say is from the games. The movies, comic books, ect. are all a seperate entity and don't count towards the game's story.

 

 

As for a MK Kollection...Ed Boon(co-creator of MK) has said a few times he'd like to do it. I already own MK, MK II and MK4 arcade machines though(and I'll get 3 someday). So I am not really interested in "arcade perfect" ports but it would be cool just to have them all on one disc, and with extra "making of" stuff. They have got to have a ton of backstage footage from the filming of 1-3.

A couple of other things I need to ask you.

 

Once I get all the endings, will they make sense and form a story, or will they contradict each other? (I would assume Sub Zero (I have it) and Frost as well as Jax (I have it) and Hsu Hao would contradict, But I have no idea.)

 

Also, any tips on beating that son of a bitch Molach? I've done it four times, but each was hard as hell.

I'm just really, really glad to have my Fatalities back again. I had MK2 when I was a kid, and I really loved that game...

I'm highly disturbed at how much I enjoy impaling someone, and then just leaving them to die. I also like Hsu Hao's slow fatality. That really can't be good for me.

A lot of the endings contradict each other. Not all though, and they can give you a good idea of what will happen in the next game. Some of them like Reptile, Cyrax and Nitara all connect and will probably actually happen in the storyline. Others like Quan Chi's or Shang Tsung's are probably just "what if they had won?" situations and won't mean anything in the long run.

 

 

 

For Moloch...go into the movelist and find a fairly short and fast combo. I find one and then go close to him but not right up close. The idea is to get him to do his punch and have him miss or you block it, then quickly go up and do the combo. Once he's hit you can usually repeat it several times. Then back off and repeat. It's hard to explain, but once you realize the right distance to where he'll miss his punch attack frequently, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Is there anywhere I can find clips of the fatalities? As a personal rule, I don't look up MK fatalities on the 'net; I find them myself. I've only got Shang Tsung's and Scorpion's so far...

 

...I always wondered why Scorpion didn't just harpoon people in the head. I'm glad they did something about that.

Cooking with Scorpion is..disturbing....on some visceral level. Anyway, I don't know what the deal is with fatalities. I'm actually best with Johnny Cage (no I don't like they took out his cheap nut punch thanks for asking) but for some reason I CAN'T get his fatality down! I switch to fatality stance and doo the move, but I keep punching him rather than doing the Brainsmasher. Although I've heard differently, maybe I don't have the distance right or something.

 

BTW 'Sault, Moloch is a big bitch with Cage. Switch to Cage's Jeet Kun Do stance and he has a couple 6 hit combos that start off with a 3 punch combo that hits quicker than anything Moloch does. Get inside, and throw the combo as fast as you can hit the button, and you'll only get splattered one or two times. Ocassionally the game will arbitrarily decide Moloch is faster than you, but that's rare.

 

And yes Quan Chi's fatality is messed up. Jumping on the guys shoulders and pulling his head up? When did the characters become Gumbies?

Distance is not your problem because distance doesn't matter anymore. Why don't you try doing it far away so you can't hit them? And are you SURE you're doing it right? Back, forward, forward, down+2.

2 = Y on Xbox, Y on Gamecube and Triangle on PS2

3 = A on Xbox, A on Gamecube and X on PS2

Yeah I thought I was doing it right...Ah well once I finish off Metroid Prime tonight (once I find the last damn missle expansion for 100%) I'll go back to MK and try it again. Then I'll start on a new character. Any suggestions? I was thinking Mavado or Hsu Hao.

Not really, I like a lot of characters. Kano, Kung Lao, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Cyrax, Frost, Raiden and Reptile are all really cool IMO.
