Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 The following four matches have been confirmed for the live edition of Smackdown tonight: -Goldust vs. RVD for the WWF Hardcore Title -Al Snow & Maven vs. The Undertaker -Kane vs. Chris Jericho -Lita vs. Stacy Keibler Here is the complete WWF.com Smackdown preview: SmackDown! preview for March 7, 2002 SmackDown! kicks off live this Thursday night from the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas, only on UPN! As announced this past Monday on RAW, The Rock will be returning to Federation programming this Thursday on SmackDown! Since the nWo beat down, then ran over, the Great One a few weeks ago on RAW, the People's Champ has been itching to get a measure of revenge on Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. With his epic WrestleMania X8 battle against Hogan just a little over a week away, what with The Rock have in store for this trio this Thursday on UPN? The nWo should also be watching out for an enraged Rattlesnake, after what happened on RAW. Stone Cold was once again triple-teamed, and the Bionic Redneck was forced to seek medical attention at a nearby medical facility. You just know that Stone Cold will be waiting for the trio this Thursday in his home state of Texas. Another question entering this Thursday's broadcast is whether or not Fderation co-owner Ric Flair will accept the Undertaker's challenge to a match at WrestleMania X8. The Dead Man has already taken out Flair's best friend, Arn Anderson, and his oldest son, David, but Taker made the allusion that he was going to go after Flair's daughter next -- that is, unless Flair faces him at WrestleMania? What will Flair do? Finally, the separated first couple of the Federation -- Triple H and Stephanie -- continue to air their problems on Federation television. On RAW, Stephanie bashed The Game with two chair shots, allowing Kurt Angle to pick up the victory against her former lover. Will the friction between the two continue on SmackDown!? What will Undisputed Champion Chris Jericho have to say about it? Four matches have already been made for tonight's broadcast. Rob Van Dam will challenge Goldust for the Hardcore Championship. Al Snow will team up with Maven to take on the Undertaker in a handicap match. Kane battles Chris Jericho in singles action. Finally, in a battle of sexy Federation Divas, the lovely Lita goes one-on-one with Stacy Keibler! Watch it all unfold this Thursday, live on UPN's SmackDown! Check your local listings for time and channel!
Guest Army Eye Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 ok, so the announced matches doesn't sound so good. Kane/Jericho might be ok. I am glad the show is live though. It doesn't say if the Jericho/Kane match is for the title. If it is, the fight should go on last dammit. Hell, even if it isn't for the title, it still should. I imagine the 'main event' will be a Rock/Hogan promo though.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 I read the Jericho/Kane match is non-title. They need to do something with Jericho attacking HHH. The feud has had little hype. It's been all Stephanie & HHH.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Let's hope that RVD vs. Goldust doesn't end with RVD winning.
Guest Some Guy Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 bps if you mean that RVD shouldn't be saddled with the Hardcore belt then I agree. I guess that match is WWF's way of blowing off the already aborted RVD/Goldust feud. I think I smell some Regal interfernce, maybe Storm too.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 RVD vs. Goldust is the worst booked match I have seen in sometime. If RVD wins, then he is back where he was 6 months ago. If Goldust wins then it makes RVD look incredibly weak (Even Maven beat Goldust). And it is a Hardcore Match so there has to be an ending. It makes zero sense.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Regal hits RVD with the knucks. TV is too predictable
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 "Regal hits RVD with the knucks. TV is too predictable " Exactly. The only other possibility is that Maven runs down and pins Goldust.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 The show looks predictable. Angle runs-in the Kane/Jericho match. Flair accepts Taker's challenge. The Rock does a promo.
Guest mastermind Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Sad, but true I think you guys have just explained the show. Another reason for fans not keeping an interest in wrestling is what's mentioned above. I say blame SmackDown which started this in 1999(that dubious number again). A good reason for splitting.
Guest Some Guy Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 I think they have realized they need to split the roster, but they have so many guys under contract that when they are brought back the overcrowding is back. Maybe Rock will kidnap Hogan and and pour beer on him just to freshen up the angle.
Guest Army Eye Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Regal punking out RVD in this match is predictable, but correct booking. There needs to be at least a little heat for this feud, they are fighting for the Intercontinental Title at Wrestlemania.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 They also need to add some heat to the Jericho/HHH match. It just seems like a match thrown together since they haven't done a thing to build it up.
Guest razazteca Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Wonder what the dark matches would be for Heat/Jakked/Metal? I predict Stephanie in the main event just like Raw screwing up the match. Who gets the music video tonight....Flair, UT, Jericho?
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 If they wanted to do something different, they could have Regal attack RVD, letting goldust retain, but then have Storm, who has gained respect for RVD in their matches, run in and save RVD, then pinning Dustin to set up a match at WM. Then Storm could go over Goldust. I don't know how Lance would get over as a face...I don't know, just some amateur booking.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Opening promo? Is this Raw?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Flair is a wrestler again? Is it full time? If so...I'd like to see him wrestle a whole bunch of the people in the company: Angle, Jericho, Austin, Benoit.....not Taker...
Guest The Masked Yodeler Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Dammit. My local UPN affiliate is delaying Smackdown for some stupid Basketball. I hate sports.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Can't Flair just book him to wrestle? He is an owner. This is slightly lame First of many Stephanie appearances tonight...oh and HHH too.....joy.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 It looks like Steph & HHH will be all over the show.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Flair could also have had Taker sentenced to 10 years for assaulting his son. That would be cool.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Regal at ringside for the RVD match? Gee...I can't imagine the ending....
Guest Tony149 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Regal is doing guest announcing for the RVD/Goldust match.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Bps21 called the ending. Regal cost RVD the match with the knucks.
Guest mastermind Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 I usually don't come on the net during shows, but I just wanted to say that it would make a lot of sense for the Heartbreak Kid to be Stephanie's new lover. Just came to my mind. Just in case it does happen I want to say it before hand.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 It makes up for the fact that I only predicted one match correctly at No Way Out. No wonder the ppv was so shitty.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 8, 2002 Report Posted March 8, 2002 Damn! A video package on the Austin/nWo stuff.
