Guest red_file Posted December 30, 2002 Report Posted December 30, 2002 Yes, Titanic would of made TONS of money. However, not as much as it did make. I'd say it would of made around $500 million, not the $600 that it did. I still don't buy it. People didn't just go to Titanic one or twice; there were groups of people -- we're talking dozens of housewives and school girls in this groups all over the country -- who went to see the movie seven or eight times. I remember watching the news and thinking how insane these people were. I don't think that the repeat business would've been cut down by having other movies out there. I know I missed something...but what's so bad about the studios caring so much about the opening weekend? It seems that the studios' obsession with big opening weekends have forced them to make spectacles instead of movies. Quality might have taken a backseat to cramming as many stars and explosions into a movie as possible. Whether or not this is really true is debatable, but that is the perception.
