LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2002 I just bought a 24 inch APEX AT2402 TV and the picture actually leans down and to the right. It's not as noticable when watching TV, but when playing video games it's really obvious. What's causing it?
Guest MrRant Report post Posted December 27, 2002 I don't want to say anything about the brand (I haven't heard great things) but... there is something probably wrong with the TV since a TV doesn't have the Horizonal/Vertical options that say a computer monitor does. Return and exchange or return and get a different brand.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2002 It's not overly horrible so I can probably live with it......I just wanted to know if there was a way to adjust it.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted December 27, 2002 outside of sliding a magazine under one side of the TV... I can't think of anything.
Guest caboose Report post Posted December 27, 2002 Exchanging or returning the TV is really the best option.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted December 27, 2002 If I were you, I would exchange it ASAP. Often when you have problems with the picture, it is JUST THE BEGINNING, as month by month it will warp a little bit more, until it is so out of whack it will be unwatchable. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted December 27, 2002 Yeah you've got to return it. Even if you think you can live with it like it is you're stupid if you don't exchange it. No offense or anything, but you paid for a working TV and you shouldn't accept anything else.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted December 27, 2002 I made the mistake of buying a Apex DVD player because everybody on the net was hyping up all the cheats you could do with it. The problem was it was the shittiest product I've ever owned. I wouldn't buy anything from Apex ever again no matter how much cheaper it is.
Guest caboose Report post Posted December 27, 2002 Well seeing as I've never heard of the Apex brand name, that would be enough to turn me against it's products.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted December 27, 2002 Well seeing as I've never heard of the Apex brand name, that would be enough to turn me against it's products. They make the really cheap DVD players, and I have one, and its been pretty damn good for the last year. I already have a DVD player in my computer, so I couldn't see paying $100+ for a DVD player, so I got an Apex DVD player for $54...

My uncle bought an Apex and it stopped working about 2 months later. The product is cheap. I bought a $55 DVD player myself but it was a Mintek which works great for being so cheap. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2002 I don't have the box anymore. They couldn't fit it in my car while still in the box so they took it out and I told them to keep the box. I have the reciept still........so can I still return it? My computer monitor has the same problem.......in fact it leans in the same way, but I got it for free so I'm not going to complain about it. Maybe your floor/house is crooked? It's not the physical TV or Monitor itself........it's the actual picture that leans.......cause you can compare it with the straight edge of the top of the TV or Monitor. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted December 28, 2002 Well if you don't have the box they may give you a hard time, but you should at least call the store and find out if you can exchange it. You may have to take the tv to the store and show them the problem before getting an answer, but most stores will do something about a faulty purchase. Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted December 28, 2002 I have a similar problem, I have a Toshiba 27 inch and I think over the last year it's become more noticable that the picture seems to be skewed up (where the very top is cut off). It's not too noticable when watching TV (except if a network has their logo on the top of the screen half of the logo isn't visible. When I'm playing High Heat Baseball (where the scoreboard is a vertical line across the top of the screen) I basically can't see it at all, it's totally cut off. When I'm watching a FOX baseball game which has the same bar, most of the bar isn't visible as well. I obviously can't return it since I've had it for a few years now and it's not worth getting a new TV, but since I can't adjust the vertical shift (I wish I could!) i was wondering if anyone knew of anything that can be done. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2002 Seeing how it was their idea to take it out of the box they shouldn't give me a hard time.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted December 28, 2002 I was still laughing at the "slide a magazine under the TV" suggestion when somebody had to go and ask if his house was crooked. Now I really can't stop laughing.
Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Report post Posted December 28, 2002 You should be able to access the service menu and adjust the picture from there. http://www.members.accessus.net/~090/awh/how2adj.html
Guest QUE? Report post Posted December 28, 2002 Maybe you have cockroaches. Cockroaches are always crawling into t.v's and screwing it up. Try putting the television where roaches cant get to it.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 You should be able to access the service menu and adjust the picture from there. http://www.members.accessus.net/~090/awh/how2adj.html Oh great.......I had to read that after I took it back.....oh well. They didn't give me any grief.....in fact they took it back without question. I bought it at Circut City. Okay I clicked on that link and none of that made sense to me at all.....it was like reading Greek.....oh wait I can read Greek........okay it was like reading Hebrew. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I went back to using my old Sharp 13F-M50 TV after taking that one back because I used the money to get a CD Player installed in my car instead. That link you gave me didn't tell how to access the service menu on a Sharp and I was wondering if anyone knew how.
Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I found this, but it looks like it's in Spanish. Here's it translated courtsey of Lycos: To disconnect the TV of the power outlet, to press CANAL+ and VOL+, pressed manténgalos while it connects the TV. In order to select to item (s) CHANNEL+ and CHANNEL -. to change data (d) VOL+ and VOL -. to leave, to press POWER or to disconnect the TV. Or, Look for the IC2001 (or IC001), close are two noticeable points TP2001 and TP2002, to cortocircuitar them by a second. In order to select to item (s) CANAL+ and CHANNEL -. to change data (d) VOL+ and VOL -. to leave, to press POWER or to disconnect the TV. I guess it means to unplug the tv, hold the channel+ and the vol+ buttons, then plug the tv in. Good luck.
Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I should mention that making the wrong adjustments in the Service Menu can seriously fuck up your television, so be careful dammit! Just use common sense and you'll be fine.
