Guest y2jailbait Report post Posted December 27, 2002 Wrestling nowadays is seemingly dwindled down to the reformation of over the top spots that have been used for over 20 years now. Every now and then a new spot or original idea comes and along and it makes us appreciate it all the more. The question i ask is, what is your favorite spot? Like the face-in-peril last second tag? Or the heel tag wrestler coming in and distracting the ref when the face finally makes the tag? My personal favorite spot is, and always will be, the collar and elbow into the corner and ending with a heel cheap shot. Its so sneaky and low down, its just one of things that makes spots that happen over and over more enjoyable.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted December 27, 2002 Basicly anything planned, or worked is a spot, from an Irish Whip to a Stunner. Super Sunset flip powerbomb w/ superplex (Attacker hits the sunset flip on victim one, who is holding victim two, victim one goes over and takes victim two with them) Best of the Super Joinours 95 Final Benoit vs Eddie. Super Tombstone. This wasn't like the shitty one Credbile did at HW98. Benoit jumped off the top and can down TOTALLY VERTICAL. Lands on his knee, like a regular tombstone, Eddie on his head (not really off course) then the Eddie just drops to the mat like he's dead as stays still for a long long time. Benoit vs Eddie again. Super J Cup 94. The ending spot in their match. Eddie dives off for a top rope cross body, but Benoit catches him and arm drags him out of mid air. Kid Kash vs Ez Money. Space Super Rana. Both men standing on the top rope. Ez goes for a super bomb, gets Kash up, jumps into mid air, but in MID AIR, Kash reverse it into a Rana. And everyone else just does it while still on the turnbuckles. Phft.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted December 27, 2002 general, commonly-used spots i'd have to think about. the first favorite specific spot that sticks out in my mind is from the 'i quit' match, when bret hits austin over the head with the ring bell and puts the sharpshooter on him, and austin fights to get out and ALMOST makes it out, and...well, everybody knows the rest. Guest Lemon Drop Kid Report post Posted December 27, 2002 Super-beloved babyface challenger makes big comeback after taking 15 minutes of abuse at the hands of Super-behated heel champion, and puts him in position to finish him off, only to have the part of the anatomy that had been worked on the entire match cave in as he comes just short of his big win. Guest Dace59 Report post Posted December 27, 2002 Too bad that doesnt happen when it should.
Guest Lemon Drop Kid Report post Posted December 27, 2002 Yes. I call for a renaissance of the SBBCMBCAT15MOAATHOSBHCAPHIPTFHOOTHTPOTATHBWOTEMCIAHCJSOHBW spot, or Luger Spot for short. Of course, now that I think about it. Some might argue that that's not really a spot, but more an intra-match storyline, so as for spots: Skinning the Cat rules and to my knowledge has been wrongfully left out of every wrestling video game in history. Guest razazteca Report post Posted December 27, 2002 I mark out for Romero Special! The Super Crazy Rolling one from ECW days in the Tajiri series is just sweet. Dr Wagner & Blue Panther did a double team version on Vuelta de Lucha recently. Any and all double team or triple team finishers will always get a pop from me whether it be 3D or Total Elimation basically all ECW double team finishes. Classic ones like the Steiner Brother or Harlem Heat finishes.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted December 27, 2002 I don't know if it fits into this category, but when when the heel tag team does an illegal switch behind the ref's back, and one of them slaps his hands together to make the sound of a real tag ... it gets a pop out of me everytime. And yes, I know that it's not a spot per se, but who cares?

And yes, I know that it's not a spot per se, but who cares? I think that does qualify as a spot, and quite a great one at that. Another great heel tag spot was one that was used in the last NWA:TNA match of 2002 (a match of the year candidate by my book), when Skipper and Ki were taking turns raking Red's face with their boots. Just brutal and evil and, well, awesome.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted December 27, 2002 Like I said, anything planned/worked in a match is a spot. From a punch to a 30 minute continous chain wrestling squence. That includes the fake tags.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted December 28, 2002 ok, got one: when the babyface is punching back at the heel, gaining momentum, and it looks like he's about to make his big comeback, when the heel pokes him in the eye. eye-poking is one of my favorite things in the world to watch in a match. i ALWAYS pop for it. Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted December 28, 2002 I always got a kick out of it when the clumsy heel would take advantage of a match but then head to the middle turnbuckle, waste all sorts of time, and miss a fistdrop / elbow / whatever. Honkytonk Man was the best at this.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted December 28, 2002 I've always marked out for the heels using the tag rope to choke the face while the ref is dealing with the other face trying to get in the ring. Too bad they don't do that anymore.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted December 28, 2002 I saw an indy match once where one wrestler went for a moonsault onto his standing opponent, but his opponent jumped up and grabbed the wrestler, in mid-moonsault, by the head and fell back into an Ace Crusher. Of course, the Crusher wasn't beautiful, but just the spot itself was good.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted December 28, 2002 Was that the Sonjay/Ca$h SSSP/Ace Crusher spot? Cause that was NASTY~! I like the trainwreck spot, where people just throw down highspots to the outside one after another. When WCW ran 6 and 8 man tags with the luchadors every week, you were guaranteed one of those, and everytime it was good.
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted December 28, 2002 "Noooooo!!!!!" Looking like you ate the canary while holding your opponent, then act shocked like the canary flew out of your mouth as your opponent counters. Talking smack to the fans in the middle of a move. I don't know about you guys, but I love Bubba Dances with Molly spot.

Guest Banky Report post Posted December 28, 2002 Any dirty Ric Flair eye gouge, low blow, or other devious move entices me. And yes, I'll take its ripped off forms from other wrestlers as well.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted December 28, 2002 The spot where somebody goes for a chairshot, but hits the ropes and the chair snaps back and nails them right in the face. That's a great one. I also love the spots where the ring collapses. I know they're hokey as shit, but I love them.

Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted December 28, 2002 I always dug the Splash Mountain reversal from Eddy vs Rey, Halloween Havoc 97. Of course, it was done years before that in ECW w/ Rey and Psicosis but this one was the better of the two.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted December 28, 2002 The Moonsault Block counterd into an Ace Crusher is great. I think it was Sasuke/CIMA CIMA went for a Quebarda Block (Lionsault to standing up) on Sasuke, and Sasuke ducks under slightly and brings him down with a perfect looking cutter.
