...now, assuming that this is true, has our world now officially changed forever? Or is it just a new technology which is new to us, thus we look at it so oddly?

I mean, the very thing that the world has always pondered about is now a reality. What does this mean to the future of society, and the such now? Do you agree with this, do you feel anger for those who are going through with it?

Remember, let's assume this is true, and 100% for real. Proof will be provided in the next two weeks, so untill it's proven to NOT be true...

...let's assume it IS true.

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

Uh, holy shit. This group who is doing this, has plans, big plans...

...they claim that humans came forth from aliens from space coming here and cloning themselves, thus birthing us. Their PLAN is to create a new race on Earth which can live forever, by cloning themselves over and over again, and plan to create an embasy so our alien "parents" can come forth and return to us.

Let's say that they DID clone succesfully...

...holy shit, I bet other scientists are fucking pissed at these wacko's!

They also plan to put one of their clone factory type things on every continent on the planet.

Riiiiight. And I just shit out a Perpetual Motion Machine. Come on guys! Check this thing out!

They offered no proof, which gives me no reason to believe them.

No they didn't, but they did offer reasons as to why they had no proof, reasons which I agree with. They agreed to have a team of scientists to come in and to run tests and the such to confirm it, so in a week or so, we'll know for sure.

I find it hard to believe that they would agree to such as that if it was not true.

Well, you Hubbardites can move over. Raeliens are here and they're cloning, too.

I was this on CNN this morning.

Quite odd indeed.

Bill Nye was on there, though, so that's cool.

I just heard this on the radio, and when I heard the phrase "extra-terrestrial religious cult" I thought "shoot, it's the Raelians". I actually had relations with that group several years ago, and their leader Rael has always preached that humans were created as "clones" of aliens, and that by cloning ourselves we'd "advance". In his group, Rael is a living messianic figure; they'll eat up anything he says. Even though they're no suicide or jihad cult, if they HAVE cloned someone (which I hope they haven't; I've been checking up on Clonaid, which has been around several years, and they've never looked like they've been able to do it to me [though I know nothing about cloning]), I'd be afraid. Not of cloning, but of what they'd do/how they would treat the clone.

And then comes the issue of clone rights, i.e. do they deserve the same basic human rights as others?

Posted

Well, it IS human. Why shouldn't it?

But, if I remember correctly from my science class (7th grade~!) if an adult were to be clone, that clone would be a baby.

I think it's BS.

Their beliefs are already way out there. It probably isn't below them to make such a bogus claim and then pay off a scientist to say it's a clone.

Again, at this stage of the technology, cloning is little different than in virtro fertilization. Beyond the novelty of babies being gentically identicle to each other, there really isn't much benefit to cloning humans at this stage.

Even if (and with these lunatics, that's the biggest frickin' IF of all time) they were successful in cloning a human being, it doesn't mean we'll be living in a Brave New World, nor will our grandchildren. Cloning is a hideously expensive process, where BILLIONS of dollars have been spent without producing one single viable human clone. And unlike DVDs, I doubt that the price is gonna drop in the next few years. There's also very few research labs anywhere on the planet that have the knowledge, the resources, the equipment, and the will to complete such a project. And finally, yes, there are many laws around the world against human cloning.

Good. Let's clone him, wait 33 years, and crucify him again. I bet THAT would put a sizeable twist into the knickers of every Christian religious leader around. I'm not a fan of cloning, but I'd be all for it in that case.

Did that sound to anyone else as if we were being asked to suck the Little Saviour?

"The best proof that we can have is probably the grandmother, who said she looked just like the mother," Boisselier announced Friday at a news conference in Florida.

Well, shit, no wonder I'm very skeptical about this being legit. If they can get two independent DNA tests that come out identical, then color me slightly less skeptical.

I know this is highly improbable, but what if scientists were to somehow clone Jesus Christ? I'm certain there are a few religious folks, among others, that are highly against cloning, citing that it's a violation of natural procreation. However, what do you do if Jesus himself is resurrected through the cloning process? Technically, it would be Jesus, so what would Christianity do in such a hypothetical predicament?

If Jesus were cloned, wouldn't it be great if it turned out to be a woman?

Given that he was always preachin' lovin' your brother and shit, I suspect Jesus may've been gay. If he were cloned, would the clone be gay?

Yea.

Anyway, as to the sudden discussion of Jesus being cloned... I thought it was only possible to clone female embryos?

Any updates from the Raelians? Is it a legit clone?
