Guest Coffin Surfer Report post Posted March 18, 2002 "rvd/lynn matches were all spotty garbage. Your all just rvd marks looking for another way to suck his dick " While I wouldn't say it that harshly you are right and wrong. RVD/Lynn should have been fast and spotty. Instead it was just garbage. These two guys should have spotted like luchadores. Instead they operated at a sluggish pace, doing some bad mat wrestling, weak brawling(RVD stiff, my ass), some laying around, a cool spot or two, and way to much countering(esp. RVD, I don't think Lynn got a move in, during the HH match). RVD does crack me up in the Hardcore Heaven match. When Lynn knocks himself out after taking a bump wrong, RVD just walks around and has no clue what to do. He could have at least put Lynn in a resthold or anything. Instead he breaks character, knells beside the ailing Lynn, and obviously asks him what he should do next. His answer, confuses RVD who sets up a chair, folds up a chair, then gently lifts Lynn in the ring like a concerned mother, then takes him out, and throws him in the audience. Than RVD gets in the ring and lays around. Funny Stuff. But not a ***** match. This is just my opinion and you can think what you want.

Guest DebilitatorX Report post Posted March 25, 2002 I rate quite a few matches *****. I rate based on workrate, the story told, the heat, and whether or not the psychology is sound. I don't think a ***** match necessarily has to have perfect psychology, just sound psychology.

Guest muzanisa Report post Posted March 25, 2002 Bret Henning summerslam 91 Bret Owen WM 10 Fleisch Williams Revival 2002 Others that deserve it I haven't always seen live so have some idea of the outcome before the match which kills some of the heat. Flair Steamboat and Dynamite Kid Tiger Mask come to mind. Also Steiners against Sting/Luger. I think for it to be a five star you must watch it live and have no idea you are about to watch a classic. Expectation can kill a match. RVD Lynn matches are great but everyone I've seen has been after hearing how great they are same with Sabu/Cactus Jack so that when you see the match you're sitting down expecting to see the best match ever and it's always a let down. When you're sitting there live thinking this should be good and two guys come out and blow you away that makes it a *****.
Guest Report post Posted March 25, 2002 Most Flair/Steamboat matches are bomb as fuck. The Flair/Funk I quit match is incredibly bomb too. the WWF has a pretty scarce amount of 5* match's maybe Owen/Bret WM X or Mankind/HBK. I think the HBK/Scott Hall ladder match's are overated. RVD/Lynn at Hardcore Heavan was shite, not nearly as good as Living Dangerousely. Cause at Living Dangerousely no one had any hopes for the match to be anything more than passable to solid, or atleast I didnt. Hm... whatever.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 25, 2002 The closest match, in my eyes, to 5 stars in the Wwf would be hart/piper wm 8. But that isnt 5 stars. I have yet to see a ***** matches. The way I see it, a ***** match has to be above and beyond anything I have ever seen, nothing can equal it. I havent seen that yet. Rey vs Eddie HH97 blew me out of the water. For wcw, that would be closest.

Guest godthedog Report post Posted March 26, 2002 gee...i wonder who AM's favorite wrestler might be. i personally think of a ***** match as a match that i can watch over & over again and never get sick of. as it stands, the only match i love so much that i can STILL feel all the drama of it if i watch it tonight is the bret/owen cage match. it just seems like it has this timeless quality & intensity to it, i don't know why. other matches that previous posts have mentioned (bret/austin, the ladder match, flair/steamboat, etc.) come close & will always hold some special place in my heart, but i've watched them all too much & just don't seem so fresh anymore. bret/owen at summerslam still has that freshness.
