Guest converge241 Report post Posted December 28, 2002 every year i try to guess at the lineup and usually come pretty close.. let's try to guestimate Ozzy (well duh) Audioslave - hey they were supposed to play last year but broke up. Touring schedule would match Perfect Circle- new album may be out around that time, Maynard is a OF fav Mudvayne - id bet any amount of $$$ they will be on it, touring schedule fits, second stage veteran Type O Negative - they always get a repeat main stager Taproot - a hot "second tier" band another band put in some time 2nd stage then maybe Chevelle - another smaller band hot at the time..i believe they did 2nd stage as well of course sometimes there is a "suprise or oddball" choice. Ill say pick one band from this pool of choices: Sum 41 AFI Foo Fighters (dont laugh they almost did it last year)
Guest kingkamala Report post Posted December 28, 2002 Looking at another thread on this very board Kylie Minougue is a slight possibility. (Imagines Kotzenjunge at OzzFest dressed as a raver surrounded by a bunch of Metal Ed-types) He he...wacky Kotzenjunge.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted December 28, 2002 We need at least one solid heavy-fucking-metal band outside of Ozzy and BLS... ...so I'm actually going to go out on a limb and say Shadows Fall might get on the tour. Hey, Meshuggah was on it last year...
Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I nominate they invite Disturbed. Best Commercial Metal band today. Why not OZZY Disturbed Perfect Circle Stone Sour Sum 41 (as long as they ditch their Pop Shit) ? Since Ozzy won't have the likes of Pantera and TRUE Hard Metal...might have those guys in all likihood.

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 ? Since Ozzy won't have the likes of Pantera and TRUE Hard Metal...might have those guys in all likihood. Pantera headlined OzzFest 2000, and Meshuggah were on OzzFest 2002. Ozzy has at least ONE real heavy metal act each year. As I said, here's to Shadows Fall on OzzFest! Hmm...maybe we should start a petition...?
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I'm predicting a Cradle of Filth appearance. Its been rumored for a while....they did the UK leg of the tour this year, there's no reason why they can't do the American tour, especially because their new album is rumored to be coming out in the summer next year. But if they bring Sara Jezebel Deva with them, I'd expect them to get totally shit on if they hadn't already been shit on by the mulletheads in the audience. Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 lets go with another Black Metal band, and say Opeth will make an apperance. Don't forget about SOAD, they will probably be added too...
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted December 29, 2002 a bit off topic, but if sum 41 of all people 'ditched their pop shit' what exactly would they do? just stand there and absorb the flying glass?
Guest TheyCallMeMark Report post Posted December 29, 2002 You don't have to 'ditch your pop shit' to get on the tour; Ozzy runs the fucking thing and I don't think you get anymore pop than that.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted December 29, 2002 You don't have to 'ditch your pop shit' to get on the tour; Ozzy runs the fucking thing and I don't think you get anymore pop than that. Ozzy doesn't run shit. He can hardly tie his shoes let alone run a multi-million dollar tour.... And as for Opeth, I doubt their normal 8 minute+ songs would suit a minimum 30 minute set. They'd get off about 3 songs, tops.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 Opeth wouldn't fit the bill, because their songs are designed as such that you really need to listen to the entire album to truly get the gist of just one song. C'mon...I can't be the only person that wants to see Shadows Fall get some more exposure, can I?! Maybe Pro-Pain feels like a tour...
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I'd like to too, but c'mon, Sharon and sell-out jack runs the show... Oh we must not forget about Kelly Osbourne....she's metal [end sarcasm]
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I'd love to see Dream Theater, but they'll be in the same boat as Opeth.... hmm Opeth/DT tour (drools)... also I'd like to see Paradise Lost as well...
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 THEATRE OF TRAGEDY~! Heh... They should get Brand New Sin to play. They're a newer band, and guess what? They DON'T suck. In fact, they kick a lot of ass.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted December 30, 2002 Ok as far as Ozzfest goes, the process of selecting the bands has changed dramatically ever since ClearChannel took over. I saw Kittie at a club with my girlfriend and Morgan(lead singer) told me now if you are picked for Ozzfest first you have to pay $75,000. It used to be free and you just had to say "yes" to the offer. Also, clearchannel is not interested in what the initial goal of Ozzfest was(to bring up new heavy metal bands) Ever since 2000, all Ozzfest does is push the new bands off of the same record labels as bands like Godsmack and Disturbed. When I went in 2000, the only enjoyable bands were Soulfly, Kittie, Pantera and seeing Ozzy live. All the rest of the bands had either a limp bizkit sound or just flat out sucked. However not suprisingly, these were the bands that started appearing on the radio by 2001.......DEPRESSING~!
Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 30, 2002 So who really runs the Tour Sharon or Clearchannel?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted December 30, 2002 Whoever it is, they still suck 98% of the time when it comes to choosing bands. I mean..CRAZY TOWN?!
Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 30, 2002 That I believe was 100% Clear Channel...Didn't Sharon say something about how much she hated them? or was that Prima Donna Jack?
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 30, 2002 Maaaan. Ozzy needs to pack it in so badly. On a side note, Pantera was terrible at Ozzfest as compared to the other times I've seen them. The crowd wasn't even that into it. Besides, they're pretty much done, methinks. Expect a lot of newer mediocre/bad bands, as usual, along with whatever's popular. Man, Ozzfest 98 was so fuckin' awesome. 97, too. There were some really good bands on those tours. Pantera (when they were still trying hard), Type O, Sepultura, Megadeth, Sabbath, Tool, The Melvins, LOA, etc...etc.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted December 30, 2002 i think no on disturbed cause they played recently 2 yrs ago SOAD has played it way too much even they have their limits as far as how many times theyll bring people back i could see Cradle the first time they toured was easily the best (the real first one was just 3 dates in the west) sabbath pantera type o negative (with Phil on Kill All The White People) fear factory machine head powerman 5k (with coal chamber and vision of disorder on side stage among others) 98 was good too though Ozzy Tool Megadeth Bizkit Soulfly Chamber Sevendust (with SOAD and ultraspank on the second stage among others. Life Of Agony played the second stage but that dont count cause it was with Ugly Kid Joe's Whitfield Crane, with me and friends chanting "we want Kieth!") on another side note , yes Pantera Ozzfest appearance ranks at the bottom for me in compaing to their others i would say top 3 1. Far Beyond Driven tour with Sepultura and Biohazard (opener: New Level) 2. War of Gargantuas whit Zombie/Deftones/Anal Cunt (opener: Suicide note I , played over the PA, then curtain drops and Suicide Note II 3. Very beginning of Far Beyond Driven tour with Crowbar (opener : Use my 3rd Arm)
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted December 30, 2002 converge...Motörhead was on the '98 tour. HOW THE FUCK COULD YOU FORGET THAT?!
Guest converge241 Report post Posted December 30, 2002 second stage can be a bit hazy at times as far as who played when i only remember all the mainstagers where lemmy should have been
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted December 31, 2002 Pantera and Slayer seem to get the "heavy metal" slot a lot because they are two bands that can draw arena sized crowds. I don't have a problem with that, however when I did see Pantera at Ozzfest it did seem a lot like they were just going through the motions moreso then when they are on a PANTERA tour. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 31, 2002 God, War of the Gargantuas was so awesome. Probably the best I've ever seen them was just after Live 101 came out, actually. They toured with Anthrax and Sebastian Bach. That show was fuckin' crazy. The other time I saw them was with Morbid Angel, Soulfly, and Nothingface. Soulfly was really good, Morbid Angel was fucking god-like in their brutality, Pantera was really good, and Nothingface was purely mediocre. I can't remember what exactly they opened with, but when they played Becoming the entire floor of the place just turned into total pandemonium.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted December 31, 2002 yes Becoming is nasty live as well as Domination i lose it when they play that it being all sense of human like capabilities that tour (Gargantuas) was especially cool because..how the hell do you follow up Zombie's huge stage show A: with a lot of amps and just pure metal
