ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I don't know if it's my eyes playing tricks on me or something, but it almost seems to me that the ring in WWF/E has gotten bigger over the years. Anyone agree or disagree?
Guest Mole Report post Posted December 29, 2002 Now that you say that, it looks a little bigger. But I believe they are 9x9, if memory serves me correct.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I would say it's a camera thing.
Guest caboose Report post Posted December 29, 2002 Now that you say that, it looks a little bigger. But I believe they are 9x9, if memory serves me correct. I always though the WWF/E ring was 12x12 and it was the WCW ring which was 9x9.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 Yeah...no way the WWF/E ring is 9x9. I saw Andre lay on the mat, and he had a good couple of feet between him and the ropes.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I think the ring's about 14x14. Why? Watch Edge, who is 6'4", suplex Angle, who is 6', from one end of the ropes towards the other (in other words, NOT corner-to-corner). There's still about a foot or 2 from Angle's foot to the ropes. A 12x12 ring is SMALL, and two 6 footers would only be able to suplex each other corner-to-corner. I remember reading an interview with Edge in WOW a few years back where he talked about how he used to work indies with a 12x12 ring, and that they needed to suplex each other corner-to-corner so they wouldn't hit the ropes. Now that I think about it, maybe the ring's 20x20, because I seem to remember the ECW ring being 16x16, and I know the WW(F/E) ring is bigger than the ECW ring. Guest Mole Report post Posted December 29, 2002 Where did I get 9x9 from? Man I'm dumb, or I just mis-read something. I could of sworn that WCW's were 8x8 and WWF's were 9x9.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted December 29, 2002 Hmm........I'm pretty sure it's not 20x20.
Paul Stanley 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2002 It's 22x24 or 24x24, WCW was 18x18(official <-- wcw mark)
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted December 29, 2002 Damn that just sounds like so much. But it makes sense b/c it looks f'n huge. It doesn't look that big in person. But then again nothing does in person.
Guest MixxMaster Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I've heard from more than a couple of wrestling ring makers sites that the standard Indy and the old ECW rings are 16x16. WCW's were 18x18. WWF/E's are 20x20. I could look it up again, but I'm too tired...
Guest Brian Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I'm sure the 20x20 and 16x16 numbers are right. Never heard that WCW was using a little bigger of a ring.
Guest EternallyLazy Report post Posted December 29, 2002 I've read this somewhere though I can't remember the source... WWE rings are 20 x 20. When the WWE signed alot of the cruiserweights from WCW, several had trouble adapting to the size of the ring. WWE has always had bigger stars, therefor bigger rings. Kevin Nash has talked about this in interviews, about how hard it was to work in a WCW ring when you're that tall.

Guest Mole Report post Posted December 29, 2002 Yeah, I think it was WCW 18x18 and WWE 20x20. Actually, I have no idea, I am just trying to look somewhat smart
Guest mickberna Report post Posted December 30, 2002 WWE rings are 20x20 at least. I work in an 18x18 ring, which still seems pretty small in person. And a 9x9 ring?!?!?!? Holy crap, think before you type.

Guest Smeghead Report post Posted December 30, 2002 I remember reading somewhere that WCW and ECW both used a 16x16 ring, and WWE used two different rings. The ring they used for TV and house shows was 18x18, and the PPV ring was 20x20.
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Report post Posted December 30, 2002 WWE's rings are definately 20x20, and they wouldn't have different sizes for ppvs and tv, that's crazy talk! They use the same size rings throughout the company so the wrestlers get used to them, from Tough Enough, OVW, to TV tapings to Wrestlemania.

I didn't mean from TV to PPV...I mean from over the years. To me, it looked like the ring used in 1992 was smaller than the one used in 2002.
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Report post Posted December 30, 2002 The tv thing was directed at smeghead. I don't know if they've changed size over the years, but they were always bigger than wcw rings.
