Worst band EVER.

Recommended Posts

Guest Kibagami

Having never heard them, I couldn't tell you. And if they really are worse than New Found Glory, fuck if I'm EVER going to listen to 'em.

I'm SHOCKED, so SHOCKED anyone mentioned andrew wk, i mean whoa don't people like him or something? News to me. [/sarcasm]

it goes like this: I'm not going to say i hate you if i hate the music you listen to. If someone like incubus, U2 or muse moves you, enjoy it. I like bands to stir me emotionally too. I am carried off to a beautiful place by any smiths song or pixies song. I actually really like REM too. That's one side of me. I also enjoy sheer, stupid, fast we-don't-care-about-how-complicated-we-are rock. Thus, Andrew WK has the same ability to move me, but in a different way. KISS and AC/DC are other bands i like for this reason. It's more of a show than artistry, and i don't have a problem with that. The reason i despise bands like coldplay is that they try to be way too deep, not realising they have no talent and don't convince me at all, rather than saying 'fuck it lets have some fun' (see WK, Andrew) And for what it's worth, his songs aren't actually all that repetitive if you listen to them. 'I Get Wet' (the track) in particular is so goddamn beautiful, if i listen to it stoned or drunk it can make me cry tears of joy. I'm not kidding. So if coldplay has that affect on you, fine, great, I'll never understand it but i hope you have fun, because I will be.

For the record, I love DEP and 'Irony is a dead scene' is one of the greatest musical creations i have ever heard in my life. You have to listen, but the musicianship IS fucking incredible in places. And Tool are fucking pretentious, and i feel i should hate them for the reasons listed above, but don't. Fantastic stuff. Also, yes I have seen ash, muse and incubus live. They were, um, better than the offspring i guess......

well incubus weren't. That was a shit marathon and a half. Went on for days. I guess a few early ash songs are passable, but everything i've heard post girl from mars has been like hearing a train full of radio syrup and guitar pop crash into a big, big wall. I like 'Kung Fu' and that's about it.

AC/DC aren't like that, unless you're talking about content and lyrics, then yeah, I'd agree. But musically they're in a different league than Kiss or Andrew WK. It sounds easy, but it's not.

Yeah I know, I'm not going to call them good musicians however. I mean KISS were good BECAUSE they sucked, if that makes sense. That's why I associate them.

Technically? Yes, but so did the Sex Pistols and Motley Crue. The fact that you technically suck doesn't mean you really suck. KISS was one of my favorites for years.

KISS are one of my favourite bands too, I want to stress that, and I think they are actually underrated but Ace was the only one I liked as a musician.

The drummer after Peter Criss left, Eric Carr is a pretty underrated metal drummer too. Shame he had to die so young.

IMO, Carr was the greatest drummer KISS ever had.

Ace was good, but was usually unmotivated...and his drinking problems didn't help either, i prefer Bruce Kulick. But, they are both good.

KISS was my inspiration to play guitar and music, for that i am grateful for them as they have been the only band to ever impact me that much.

Who are ...

- A?

- Waitresses?

- Dilinger Escape Plan?

Savage Garden is such a cool band NAME that it makes me hate them even more for sucking so incredibly bad.

That Savage Garden song on the radio all the time is great. The one where they want to stand in the ocean.

Worst band ever? ANCIENT 401. They're a local pop/punk band, and 2 of the members go to my school, and they are possibly the biggest embarassment to music EVER.

Tell us more about them! And what kind of name is that?

They're like the musical equivalent of meringue.

But merengue (sic?) is music. Remember El Merenguero?

well, i suppose that although i hate the shit out of his 6 year old whiny ass matt bellamy is actually a good musician, i'll give him that.

Whiny six year old? Who is this Matt Bellamy?

I assume he means their from a factory tha makes shit, not that the band itself is pre-manufactured.

That would be a crummy place to work, eh? You'd smell all day, and when you finally get it off, it's back to work. And your paycheck would always bounce, because no one would buy it when they can just make it at home.

And kamala, I don't like hardcore death metal either. I'll take In Flames and Beyond The Embrace and Dark Tranquility over Decapitated and Nile and Dying Fetus ANY day.

What are In Flames and Beyond? Black metal? I thought black and death were the same.

BAD BANDS:

Smash Mouth

New Found Glory

Foo Fighters

Korn ... I mean "KoRn" (some songs are catchy, but they stink)

Mimeograph Smack Session

Twisted Sister

Both of Tommy Lee's bands

Neurotica

Lil Porter and the Zydeco Hustle

Ladybug Transistor

The Powerful Multiple Glories of the DeSimmons Brothers

Guttermouth

Propaghandi

Lowlight Gunnsmith

Rotational Toil

GOOD BANDS YOU GUYS SAID WERE BAD:

Journey - So cool. Steve Perry is a sexual superstar.

White Lion - "When the Children Cry" is so sweet. I don't listen to it anymore though, since I overplayed it.

America - They are a musical superpower and have a big army. Even though it was an old song, I used to sing "Horse With No Name" while I played with my action figures. My Dino-Rider was trying to get to the portal in the desert, but he had to beat my Andre the Giant LJN rubber figure first. And he didn't have a dino to ride!

Cinderella - Didn't they wear dresses? If so, that is cool. They are like Tootsie.

Good Charlotte - I don't listen to them because I don't like them, but they aren't TOO awful. They're friendly guys, too.

Def Leppard - One of them has one arm or something. Have a heart. :P

- Dilinger Escape Plan?

A is some wretched English band. Saturnmark can elaborate as I am unfamiliar with them.

The Waitresses had their brush with fame with a track called I know what boys like. It's brutally bad with horrendous lyrics and poor musicianship. I've never heard any of their other material, and they pretty much faded into nothingness after that single, if memory serves.

Dillinger Escape Plan is bar-none the most technical band I've ever heard in my life. Most people either find them horrible or impossible to listen to, as the vocals are pretty much nothing but screaming, aside from maybe the more recent Mike Patton-fronted material which Saturnmark has also heard more of than me. It's on deck for the next cd I grab, though. Calculating Infinity is easily their best album that I've heard. Guitars and drums are completely out-there in terms of craziness. Don't go in expecting gentle melodies or slow songs. Every thing is full-bore rip your face off. I wouldn't say they're that "heavy" though, but completely wild while still being in total control. Definitely worth a download at least. Check out Jim Fear, The Running Board, The Mullet Burden, and from what I've heard, When Good Dogs Do Bad Things is excellent. That track has Mike Patton of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle fame on vocals.

I'm iffy on In Flames, but haven't heard much of their stuff, so call it no opinion. I've never heard Beyond The Embrace.

Either way, they're probably not as good as Nile or Dying Fetus as opposed to what Corey, Converge, and Redbaron will say.

Black and Death Metal have quite a few differences. Death growls, for one. A lot of Black metal vocals involve screams and stuff, Death is pretty much entirely growl vocals, like Morbid Angel, for example.

Death bands never do pussed-out classical instrumental lead-ins, and Black Metal never does any dischordant groove breakdowns. They're good for separate reasons, but I'm way more into death bands.

If you like America you have serious problems. They were winy Neil Young knock-offs that never had an original thought in their head that were more musically sappy and generic than Bread, who at least had some creativity and cheesy charm. Horse with No Name is probably my least favorite song ever. I have also never heard of this "big army" you speak of for America, but I'm sure the Kiss army could bomb their bunker and pick their collective teeth with their bones.

I can see why someone would like Journey though and can almost get into a few of their songs. I just have a lot against Steve Perry.

Agent's correct - 'When good dogs do bad things' by Patton and DEP is certainly the best song released last year, bar none.

onto 'A'. Oh, GOD. Make it stop. I'll take 25 years of being sodomised in jail instead, please. A are the quintessential example of how tragically lame Nu metal is, and how weak minded the nation's children can be. Shit factory magazines like kerrang don't help by calling them 'pop metal genius' every chance they get and constantly pimping their 'awesome' live show (I have had the dubious pleasure at leeds, and was reduced to tears of laughter by the worst onstage quote ever from their frontman. 'Yeah, thanx guys, this one's for all you punks!' You need to hear his voice first to get the idea of how lame that sounded) But then I hate kerrang anyway for worshipping bowling for soup and basically admitting mushroomhead aren't poppy enough for them to care about.

Matt Bellamy is the head shit-merchant of the band muse, who I concede are talented musicians (or at least he is) but their live show is just about a million notches below what people say it is. I for one (and most of my friends) weren't 'blown away' and did not find it to be 'euphoric' by any stretch. Just a bunch of whiny twats. But I guess they're not in the same hideous festering league that contains A and coldplay. It's more personal, they just piss me off. FUCK THEM ALL, anyway.

If you're not a big metal fan, the difference between black and death metal can be remembered simply as death=torture, black=satan. That's extrememly oversimplified, but oftentimes it's a dead giveaway.

You gotta give KISS one thing they've inspired more people to become musicians then any other band then the Beatles.

Worst bands:

Muse- The most overrated pile of shit I have EVER heard

Andrew WK- Absolutely abysmal. Pitiful. Awful. Terrible. Rotten. Shit. Balls. The worst. Every song on the album is about a party! "Party Hard", "Party till ya Puke" etc. etc. etc. Instead of partying, methinks he should find some talent.

Slipknot- So bad it's not even funny. They are a cartoon, a cirus, and they are everything that they claim they aren't. The pits.

Sum41, New Found Glory etc.- ugh...Pop Punk?! Shit

Bands beginning with "The"- Lately alot of these have shown up trying to act like its 1970 or some shit. The Vines are particularly awful, and I also don't like the Hives, the Strokes, the White Stripes etc.

Nickleback, Staind etc.- ugh...."Post Grunge". All angry and depressed for no reason.

Limp Bizkit, Linkin Part, Korn- All NuMetal...All Suck!

OH come on, it's not like he proclaims to have any talent, it's A FUCKING JOKE. That his music is beautiful to me, is an added bonus. I can't belive normally intelligent people come up with the same reasons for bashing him time and time again. Just harmless fun for chist's sake. I'm with you 500% on muse and everything else though, even if the hives were a LOT better than i expected them to be live.

Yeah, seriously, it's not like he's supposed to be changing the world or anything. And I think The Hives rule too, but it's your opinion, dude.

I know it's become fairly standard to consider "The" bands to be acting like it's the 1970's, but it's really not true. The bands might dress like it's the 70's, but how retro do any of these groups actually sound? Minimalist, yeah, but the 1970's?

Not really the point of the thread, but I just thought I'd be stuffy for a bit.

The only reason America was successful because they had the same producer as the Beatles...

yet I have their greatest hits, and are a great listen to now and then....

I'm convinced the Vines suck metric loads of ass. Now I like the Strokes and I think the White Stripes and the Hives are OK, but the Vines sound like the bastard child of the Hives and Nirvana. Terrible just terrible garage rock. Even though I think some of them are decent to pretty good I don't think any of the popular "The" bands will have successful follow up albums.

I hate the lead singer of the Vines, I just want to punch his ugly face in.

But then the guy is stoned 24/7 since he was probably 12, and no wonder he has a hard time trying to speak (he makes less sense than Ozzy in his sentances)
