Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted December 30, 2002 I was wondering what everyone's favorite video game music was? From any kind of game? What music made you feel the most sadness? The most drama? What creeped out the most? My favorite game music comes from Xenogears. That game is so good at setting the mood with it's music. Into the Sky was one that I really enjoyed from that game.

Guest Renegade Report post Posted December 30, 2002 This thread was done awhile back. Lets see... "City Escape" Sonic Adventure 2. "Live and learn" from same game. "Moonlight" from the Megaman X6 intro. The Tracks from Capcom vs SNK 2 ("This is a true love we're making") "Simple and clean" in Kingdom hearts (the full version at the end, not the remix.) Call me sappy but it really set the bitter-sweet mood of the end sequence for me. The original theme to double dragon on the NES. The ice level on Sonic 3 (you know where he gets the snowboard.) The music on Sonic CD (yes I played alot of Sonic in my time.) Chrono triggers music was good at the time... A couple of KOF songs but I always mix the music up so I'm not sure from which game. Zelda OOT (gotta love those tunes.) "Its only us" and "Song 2" by Robbie williams and Blur on the fifa games. I probably have more.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted December 30, 2002 all of the music from Super Mario Brothers... Ive got an mp3 of it all mixed together, and its some good stuff. I've also always liked Balrog's music from Street Fighter. The Wu Tang Shaolin Style game had some excellent music, but ironically it wasn't the Wu Tang songs. Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted December 30, 2002 From the original Die Hard Trilogy game; The Wall Street level in Die Hard w/ A Vengeance mode. It would of made a swank entrance theme for I.R.S.
Guest KoR Fungus Report post Posted December 30, 2002 My favorite game in terms of music is FF6. It's just so consistantly good, almost every tune is memorable and almost nothing is bad. Honorable mention goes to FF7, Chrono Trigger and Tekken 2. As for specific pieces of music... Aria de Mezzo Caraterre (and the rest of the FF6 opera) is beautiful, and creates one of the most memorable scenes in videogames. It could use an update, though, as the digitalized voices are pretty ugly. Scars, the Chrono Cross intro theme. Amazing piece of music. Too bad none of the in-game music was that good. I loved One Winged Angel (the FF7 final boss theme) at the time. It does a great job setting the mood for the battle. It's a bit overproduced and long, though. The Best is Yet to Come from the MGS ending is hauntingly beautiful. The Metal Gear Solid 2 intro theme is a great piece of upbeat music to get the game started. I'm also love a bunch of DDR music. So Deep, Abyss, Absolute, Dam Dariram, Hot Limit, B4U and lots more. Too many to list.
Guest Cavi Report post Posted December 30, 2002 Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross - Mitsuda is easily one of my favorite composers and these two games are the reason why. His work isn't as grand in scale as say Uematsu's, but the way he works different themes into the pieces is just great. Killer Instinct Series - The first time I heard the famous theme song, I was hooked. Definitely ranks as my favorite fighting game series music. Streets of Rage Series - Classic Yuzo Koshiro. Revenge of Shinobi - Another Yuzo soundtrack. While this series has always had good music (Shinobi III has awesome tracks, though Revenge is the only Yuzo composed game), this is probably my favorite. Shenmue - Yet another one to come out of Yuzo, though this time it was more of a team effort with his studio Ancient. Great, traditional stuff (though that pop song during the motorcycle scene isn't exactly good).

Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted December 30, 2002 Hitman 2's Budapest Radio Orchestra score is fan-fucking-tastic. Splinter Cell's music is PERFECT. If you do something wrong like step into the light or make too much noise, immediately, the music grows tense. Plus the opening video to "The Name of the Game" rules the world. Jet Set Radio Future's music is very very cool, it suits the game very well, and I can't get enough of Hideki Naganuma.

Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted December 30, 2002 Ace Combat 4. Great music, particularly in the "Shattered Skies" mission where there is just one big dogfight, and the final level where you must destroy a superweapon and this opera chorus is singing, awesome. Since I like 80's songs, GTA: Vice City. Plus you have the option of changing your song by switching radio stations.

Guest EQ Report post Posted December 30, 2002 Some of those old Sonic, Mario, Zelda, etc tunes are just too classic... I love the music to Soul Calibur. I even downloaded the soundtrack and throw it on every once in a while for a nice change of pace. The music really kicks ass. MGS had a good score too. The Tony Hawk games usually have a decent selection on them, but I don't know if we're counting that. As far as JSRF goes, I love the music except for that Birthday Cake song. That song is quite possibly the worst one I've ever heard. I turn the sound down when it comes on. I wish you could take that track out of the rotation. Speaking of XBOX games, why the hell doesn't EVERY GAME support custom soundtracks?! I mean, it wouldn't be the best choice for every game (Splinter Cell), but the option should definately be there, IMO.
Guest EricMM Report post Posted December 30, 2002 I'd say a few RPG's like FFVI, Suikoden, Chrono Trigger, they were all really good. Metal Gear Solid's intro was the best sounding and best produced intro to any game I had ever seen Castlevania Symphony of the Night had some great tracks. Super Metroid was good. I would count Tony Hawk games because they are soundtracks just like any other game. And for the most part they are skate songs.
