Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted December 30, 2002 I've come to the understanding that when most coaches are fired it's a way to put the blame on someone...cause you can't fire the entire team after all. But Marty is just a shitty coach...who gives the other guys the ball in overtime? And that's not even mentioning that the Lions are a very very bad team. I was shocked that I didn't hear about him getting canned today. I know you are buddies with the President and all...but come in. Lions record the last two seasons: 5-27, and I hated how after every loss he would go on about how "this is a much better team then the record says"...that's never true, you're only as good as your record. I'd like to like the home team again, but man can they suck any worse.

I never liked that argument. If you were better then your record, your record should have been better... I can't put it into words and make it sound smart
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted December 31, 2002 Well, it's just a copout by Mornihnweig to disguise how truly hideous that team is, if that helps.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 31, 2002 His team is better then it indicates but Only 6-10 good not 9-7 playoff good. Moringweg will be gone as soon as San Fran is eliminated (likely this weekend) and Detroit gleefully boot him and welcome Maricucci with arms wide open. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted December 31, 2002 The Vikings were exactly where they should of been 6-10. Matt Millen deserves alot more criticism than what he's getting from the media. He took over has president of a 9-7, team who barely missed the playoffs, and turned them into a 5-27 team, with no upside in the next few years.

I'm wondering why he was even hired in the first place. Who decided that a broadcaster would be the perfect fit to ru(i)n a franchise? Since when is someone with no experience managing anything a good choice for the president of a football team? It amazes me how many owners hire complete boobs just because they're chasing a big name. To bastardize Mark Cuban's comments, a Dairy Queen manager probably could have done a better job with the Lions. Just give the chap a Street & Smith's book, encourage him to read ESPN's "TMQ," and he'd be set.
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted January 1, 2003 Not sure if Lions fans have seen this, but I saw on the ESPN bottom line that the Lions were retaining both Millen and Morninghweg for another season. Enjoy.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted January 1, 2003 Ford has a history of sticking with bad coaches one too many seasons.
Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 1, 2003 Moronwig and Millen are a cancer on the Lions franchise and need to be replaced ASAP. I'm not big on firing coaches who have so little to work with but Moron is just a detriment to a team that has the potential to win games. The Lions lost by one or two touchdowns in each one of their games last season and came close to beating some very good teams the year before and this year as well (Green Bay for starters). As a Green Bay fan I am getting a perverse pleasure out of watching the Lions come so close but then lose it all in the end. But Moron and Millen need to be given the boot come next season since Ford has decided to keep these two choads.

Enjoy. That will be shortlived if Mariucci is fired like some are expecting.
