NCAA 2K3 for X-Box.

 

 

I am Texas so far, and the teams I played were not easy. NC State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Baylor (surprisingly, one loss...to me that is), and a few shit teams, like Kansas State, and Tulane.

 

 

Game against Iowa State, I'm ranked 2 in the country (only behind Miami...) while Iowa state is ranked 19th.

 

What should have been a blow away, turned into a friggin close game.

 

At the end of the first quater it was 14-6 for Texas.

 

Second quater 24-6.

 

After the half it went downhill. In two plays I lose both my starting quater back and running back, and there gone 4-5 weeks respectivly. I lost all of my running game basically, with some few brakes, option went away, and now had to use some basics on passing. Iowa State gets it 24-14 at the middle of the third quater. Later it becomes 24-20 at the end of the quater.

 

Fourth quater, Iowa State gets a big punt return eventually being tackled on my own 30 yard line. They keep using the running game, and marching out on my 7 yard line. Iowa goes for a pass, but it was intercepted by DB #3, in the endzone.

 

5 plays later, and a 54 yard field goal, and I have a touch down lead. With 1:23 left in the game.

 

Iowa State has trouble, but a pass interferance gets them up to the 50 with 43 sec. left. Time goes down as they are in the red zone. So far, Iowa State is ranked number 7th in the country for redzone percentage, but it was fourth and three with 14 seconds left. A counter, but was brought down, inches before the first down...game over...right?

 

 

Nope.

 

Defensive Holding, ball placed on the 4 yard line. new downs. 6 seconds left.

 

First play, a run, stopped, 2 seconds left, time out.... 1 remaining.

 

Second play. Shotgun, 5 out, QB has no one to pass too, as he gets his ass send to the grass with a 3 yard Sack...game over.

Can't remember the details as far as score by quarter but suffice to say I was very pissed. Alright, it's the 4th quarter Eagles vs Texans(Me) on Pro. I injure McNabb, he's out for the drive. I score a TD and they get the ball back. McNabb comes in for a play and immediately gets injured, all things great then right? I'm up 46-43 so they'll need at least a FG to tie. Suddenly Randall F'n Cunningham comes, Eagles ball around the 13 yard line in their own end. Then they begin driving. I stop them at their 45 so it's 4th down and 10 with around :43 left. Complete pass, first down at my 36 with something like :38 left. Randall drives, completing two quick passes so it's now 4th and 14 with :01 left in the game, I'm up 46-43. Cunningham gets the snap, 3 yard drop...TD to Pinkston. Final score 49-46. Worst thing though, this was a Wild Card game.

The game had the BIGGEST glich today.

 

I threw a pass to Owens for a touchdown. Next thing I know, the booth is challenging the spot of the ball. I'm like, how can you challenge the spot of the ball when you scored a touchdown? I clearly scored, right in the middle of the endzone. But the play gets reveresed, and it's put on the 1 yard line.

 

It was soo fuckin dumb.

 

And Dawn, that sucks. Fuckin Randall.

Well today I started a new franchise on Madden 2K2. I decided to go with the NY Jets with their roster without doing any fantasy draft playing on All Pro with 5 minute quarters. First opponent? The Colts.

 

Started off okay with the ball going to them after they stopped me at the 42yrd line. So they take over and pretty much hand it to James for the first 2 plays and grab about 3 yards. So on 3rd and 7 they line up in the shotgun and I go with a 4-3 Strong Zone to cover up the middle. Midfield catch to Pathon and they go up 7-0. So I get the ball on my 32 after the kick return and promptly throw an interception that leads to a FG and a 10-0 lead to the Colts.

 

I get the ball back but end up having to punt on every possesion. I manage to hold the Colts to a FG as time expires in the 2nd half. 13-0

 

I get the kickoff to start the second half and just lite it up in the 3rd quarter. Nothing but 13 and 15 yd strikes until I get a TD to Chrebet on a play action. 13-7.

 

We go back and forth with no real gains for either team and start the 4th quarter. Manning lights up my secondary when Farrior gets a "Migrane Headache" and will miss the rest of the game. For some reason they go to James on a 3rd and 5 and I hold him to just 2 yards and they get the FG. 16-7 Colts.

 

About 2 minutes left so I go into a passing attack and manage to throw a 30 yd TD on 2nd and 6 to Curtis Martin to get to 16-13. I go for just the PA since I will need at least a FG either way. 16-14.

 

Colts get the ball on the 17 and kill me up to my own 32 where by God's will I stopped them and they miss the FG.

 

So I am going from the 32yrd line with 34 secs and 1 TO. I hit a couple passes to the corners and make it to about the 45 yd line of the Jets with about 22 secs to go. I figure I can get off two plays and call a timeout and kick the FG. So I call a post pattern and hit Chrebet but he gets nailed at only 5 yds. Fine... one more play and then TO right? Nope. Martin got injured and they called an injury TO. So I have 13 seconds... no TO and I am at the 50 and am out of the kickers range.

 

I do a play action and nail it at the 32 of the Colts but since I have no TO's I don't have the time to setup for the FG and lose 16-14.

Well, this was for madden 2002, but anyway.

 

NFC Championship - Redskins vs Tampa Bay

 

I fixed it so the Redskins had Wuerffel at QB. All season long he does admirably well compared to his real life counterpart. Only reason I did well is cause I gave the damn ball to Stephen Davis and let him run like crazy (19 total TDs, 2450 total yards..)

 

Anyway..Tampa Bay shuts down Davis like I didn't want them to do, so I had to go to Wuerrfel for most of the game. First half, I get killed by 3 Ints and 1 fumble on a pass I completed for 40 yards to the Tampa Bay 20..

Tampa converts all 4 turnovers into Touchdowns. Thier other possessions result in 1 fg and a couple of punts. The turnovers were killing me because the 3 Ints were in the Skins half of the field giving them short drives.

I tried stopping Warrick Dunn (remember this is 2002) thinking that Shaun King wouldn't be able to do anything with just one good reciever (K. Johnson against Bailey) Blah...I think he finished the half with like 175 passing yards and 3 of the 4 tds..1 to K. Johnson and the rest to someone..(dont remember..)

 

Anyway, at the half its Tampa Bay 31 Washington 7. Im about ready to pitch my wavebird across the room and watch it fly. I stick with it. I finally get Wuerffel to move the ball down field quickly to Gardner and Lockett. Touchdown Gardner..on the Bucs ensuing drive I get an Interception of my own, but at midfield. I managed a FG. End of the 3rd Qtr its 31-17. Im thinking..2 TDs is possible..

 

Tampa Bay just laughs at me...

 

I get the ball and go 3 and out with about 6:00 left in the 4th. I decide to punt instead of go for it (3 yards..)..damn..Tampa blocks my punt and they recover it..2 plays later..TD..

 

Its not looking to good (38-17) but I stick with it..they kick off..and I get a good return out of it to the Tampa bay 45. First play..Wuerffel back to pass...has Gardner wide open at the 10..and somehow Derrick Brooks pops in and Intercepts the ball..all the way..91 yards for a TD. Its now 45-17 and about 3 minutes left.

 

Long story short...I ended up getting pasted 45 31...I managed 14 pts and 1 onside kick, but honestly there wasn't any way I was gonna get like 4 onside kicks recovered..

 

I was pissed. Tampa Bay went on to lose the Super Bowl to the Jets 27-10.
