ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2003 This is NOT a thread where you talk about who you want to win. This is about things OTHER than the winner of the rumble. Here's a few things I'm hoping for to happen in the Royal Rumble this year... 1) There are surprise entrants. One of the things that ruined it for me last year was that you knew everyone that was entering it. I kinda like when there are surprise entrants. LIke in 2000 with Backlund and 2001 with Haku. 2) I want an Iron Man this year. Someone who gets an early number and last near the end of it. Like DiBiase in 1990...Martel in 1991...Flair in 1992...Backlund in 1993...Michaels and Bulldog in 1995...Austin in 1997...Rock in 1998...Kane in 2001...and so forth. Either RVD or Storm would work for me. 3) I don't want the whole rumble to be just "Raw vs. Smackdown." Like it said in the rumbles past, it's EVERY man for himself. Meaning Raw should go against Raw and Smackdown against Smackdown, as well as Raw against Smackdown. 4) I want the ring to fill up. I like when, in Royal Rumble matches, we see more than 6 people in a rumble at once. Like 11 or 12 people at once. That's one thing that I DIDN'T like about last year's rumble, the ring barely ever filled up. 5) I want some good feuds to be built out of this. Sorta like how a feud between Bad News Brown and Rowdy Roddy Piper broke out after the 1990 Rumble. It's a perfect set-up for it. 6) Maybe have Funaki reprise the role that he played in the 2000 Royal Rumble. Maybe in his last appearance for it, he can copy his former partner Taka Michinoku's final elimination from the rumble. 7) I want Hurricane to last a good while in the Rumble. I mean, the moment with him, Austin, and HHH was funny, but that was good for one year. This year, I expect more from the super-hero. Maybe chokeslam Jamie Noble over the top rope? >=) Anyone else have anything?
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 2, 2003 Three Simple things: 1)Return of SCSA 2)Return of the Rock 3)Ring fill up with atleast 15 men at one point
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2003 Three Simple things: 1)Return of SCSA 2)Return of the Rock 3)Ring fill up with atleast 15 men at one point ...you know, I don't think the ring has EVER filled up with 15 men in the Royal Rumble. The highest I've seen was either 11 or 12 in the ring at once.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2003 Oh, another thing I'm hoping for...someone to do what Jerry "the King" Lawler did in the 1996 Rumble: go through the ropes, and hide under the ring for a long time. Either get Lawler to reprise that role, or maybe Jericho could do that.
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted January 2, 2003 1. If someone could produce a list of 15 SD! and 15 Raw wrestlers, we could see if it is possible. 2. BOO!You no-sold the Rock in 1998! My vote for 2003 is for Jericho, BTW. 3. You're forgetting that wrestlers are competing for their own brand's title. If a Booker T sees a Lance Storm in there, he's going to throw them out, so that he is the one who gets that title shot. Yes, it is "Raw vs. SD!" as your main angle, but the idea of fighting for your own brand's title, just adds another dimension to the Rumble. 4. 8-10 guys in the ring is good, although a large number does dilute the amount of attention the fans pay to a certain encounter (Rock/Austin in 1998, for instance.) 5. Feuds are ALWAYS started, courtesy of the Rumble. Last year, it was the Undertaker vs. Maven. It's just a matter of whether the WWE has a long-term plan for the feud/angle. Anyone else have anything? You brought up my basic points & arguments, so kudos to you.

I'd make a list for that, but that one OVW guy is going to be in it, but I don't know what type he is or who it is, so I can't say which brand he'll be. 2. WHOOPS! Knew I missed one. Edited duly so. And I still think that Jericho would work better doing what Lawler did in 1996. 3. I'm not forgetting...I just hope that WWE doesn't forget that. 4. That is kinda true. 5. I don't think ones were started in 2001...or 1998 for that matter.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted January 2, 2003 Austin and/or Hogan coming back. I just want to mark out huge there.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted January 2, 2003 I want the first two people in to be the last two. It's been done...but only in that abomination of a 60 seconds between participant rumble. Also...I want RVD to break his Rumble record and last OVER 2 minutes this time. Surprise entrants always rule. Hell, I marked for Haku for no reason in 2001.
Guest Joejigatame Report post Posted January 2, 2003 It's a shame they don't place any importance on someone when he stays in the Rumble for a extended period of time. It would really help to get get someone over if they promoted it, instead of briefly mentioning it the next night. It could stretch to WrestleMania with someone promoting themself as the Iron Man of WWE. Some mystery entrants would be nice, but no celebrities please. Drew Carey was terrible a few years ago. Hopefully the entrants who represent each show are the ones who are over...it's really embarrassing when someone comes out to a round of indifference. Guest notJames Report post Posted January 2, 2003 Ditto to BravesFan's comment about too many people in the ring at once. That's what made shit like World War III such a chore to watch. Hell, when the announcers have a tough time keeping track of things, what hope do we lowly viewers have? I hope that Batista doesn't get the Diesel push this year, although they're probably leaning toward it. I hope RVD lasts longer than he did last year. I would like to see Victoria and/or Trish as an entrant. It might be interesting to see how some of the men would handle the situation. No Drew Carey. Brock and Team Angle as the final three (four if you count Show), with Brock fighting valiantly against all odds and coming out victorious. I don't see anything on the RAW side that could be as "emotionally charged" as that ending.
Guest SuperTonyJaymz Report post Posted January 2, 2003 All I want is someone uexpected to win it...thats all i ask
Guest converge241 Report post Posted January 2, 2003 id like them to have "rumble-in" battle royals on each show they announce 13 for each, leave one surprise for each brand but have a battle royal of 20 guys on each show where they have to earn their spot "Austin and/or Hogan coming back." hey austin was the first to enter the 2003 Rumble on Raw last January so he'll be there
Guest notJames Report post Posted January 2, 2003 All I want is someone uexpected to win it...thats all i ask It will never happen. The only time I was ever surprised was the first one, when Jim Duggan won. Might I add that I hope Austin does return, has a good showing, and then gets eliminated by someone unexpected or in dire need of a push.
Guest MideonMark Report post Posted January 2, 2003 -Austin returns, eliminates a few people, but is eliminated by Eddy Guerrero, through some heelish means, leading to a feud, the blowoff being Austin vs Eddy at No Way Out, 8 months after it was supposed to happen. -Mystery entrants, possibly Rhyno and Kanyon maybe, if hes fit by then -Ric Flair enters at Number 3, for historic reasons -F-5 to Big Show over the top rope -someone has to be the Iron Man, was there even one last year? This year, Im hoping its RVD or Booker T
Guest Mr. Workrate Report post Posted January 2, 2003 I don't care so much is the obvious pick, Lesnar wins. Last year's rumble wasn't bad, and everyone knew HHH was winning. I just hope that there's more than 8 in the ring most of the time, and a surprise wrestler survives for much of the match.

Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted January 2, 2003 1) Unlike last year, RVD and Booker last over 2 minutes. 2) Surprise entrants. I really don't care who, just make it a surprise. 3) We need an Iron Man. 4) Make the order of the wrestlers seem random unlike recent years in which the order is completely contrived and predictable. 5) No one is eliminated and sneaks back in without the refs noticing. I hate that spot!
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 2, 2003 No one gets tossed out really quick besides the total jabronies. No hosses that nobody gives a shit about besides the office clearing the ring. Some cool surprise entrants. Some one will win that won't suck, and would surprise us. Stone Cold's return. Jericho and HBK could clash in the rumble, but I want them to have a one on one match besides. The Rumble as the main event. Maybe a new face that we'll like makes a name for himself in the rumble. If Brock doesn't win, Team Angle is the cause as Chris has suggested before. Al Wilson enters, gets tombstoned 3 times by Kane, then both get eliminated by a cruiserweight like Chavo or Kidman. Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 3, 2003 1. Ironman (50+ minutes) Canidates Jericho Christian Eddy Edge 2. No Diesel Push this year. 3. The ring to be filled 8-13 men. Perferfably(sp?) at the end, Remember when in 1994 #30 Adam Bomb came out and there was still about 14 left? Do that again but leave Bryan Clark out. 4. Blood! I want to see someone to last at least 30 minutes (might as well be the Ironman). I nominate Jericho or his Hetrolifepartner, Christian. 5. Yes I want someone to play Lawler and Jimmy Hart, but not Jericho as suggested before, I nominate either Steven Richards or Eddy. 6. More of a Random feeling of the draws...Don't have Brock, Edge, Show, HBK, Booker and RVD draw 25-30. Seperate the stars. 7. No Raw Vs Raw Smackdown Vs Smackdown crap. Everyman for himself! 8. I want HBK/Jericho face off and Show/Brock face off. 9. One or two surprises (I suggest Jim Duggan and either Tugboat or Luke the Bushwhacker playing Taka 2003.) 10. No long enterances for #22 again ok.
