Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted March 9, 2002 This question is not which is better. We could go on for days about that. The question is if you could only watch one style (hypothetically) of heavyweight puro, which would you go with. King's Road (AJPW) or Strong Style (NJPW)? I await your responses. Guest TRG Report post Posted March 9, 2002 I've loved All Japan from the first match (6/3/94) I ever saw, which has always prejudiced me against New Japan. King's Road.
Guest Carbon Tiger Report post Posted March 9, 2002 King's Road Style all the way. I was hooked from match one and I haven't been let down sense that first match 2 years ago.
Guest dawho5 Report post Posted March 9, 2002 I prefer King's Road style. The reason behind that lies far more with the workers than the style, though. I just prefer Kawada, Kobashi, Akiyama, Misawa, Taue, Williams, Vader, and Hansen. NJPW had great workers as well, but then there are the Sasakis who really bring it down. Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted March 9, 2002 Personally, I have to go with King's Road. Sure, there are some days where I like to see some of my NJPW favorites (Chono, Hash, Mutoh-when he's working, even some Tenryu) but pound for pound AJPW has it. I mean can you show me a time where 5 guys at the top of a card (Misawa, Kobashi, Kawada, Taue, Akiyama) had 4-5 star match after match?
Guest Tomato Can Report post Posted March 9, 2002 I'd definetly go with AJPW, especially considering the way Inoki is pushing things. INOKI PRESENTS Shoot-Style Lite! Now with less credibility!
Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted March 11, 2002 Well, keep in mind that the way Baba is pushing things right now, King's Road is all but dead too. Kawada is pretty much the last reminant of that style in exhistance.
Guest wolverine Report post Posted March 11, 2002 Kings Road style. As far as NJPW is concerned, all I like from them are the juniors, specifically, Liger in his prime, when he was the best worker in the world.
Guest Midnight Express Report post Posted March 11, 2002 I only got into Japanese wrestling recently, and that was mainly because of Mutoh so I have seen a lot of NJPW and followed the scene closely over the last 6 months so I would probably be the first to say Strong Style. Becasue of Mutoh I got a lot of old shows too and events like G1 Climax 91 and 92. I did really like Champs Carny 1995 and would like to see more - who knows, my preference could change to King's Road but for now it's Strong Style. Then again, with Mutoh and Kojima in AJ and the awful Heavyweight booking in NJ (Super J and Norton over Yasuda and Nagata - huh?), things could change pretty soon! Guest thebear Report post Posted March 20, 2002 What aspect of NJPW is "Strong Style"... The faked shoot aspect??? i'm confused on this part... I enjoy the actual NJPW stuff, as I find the AJPW/NOAH Style to be too tedious to sit and watch, It just doesn't appeal to me...
Guest Jubuki Report post Posted March 20, 2002 "King's Road" and "Strong Style" are just fifty-cent phrases for AJPW & NJPW - they don't actually symbolize anything or mean something that saying "AJPW heavyweights" or "NJPW heavyweights" doesn't mean.
