Guest C-Bacon Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 ok, recently i've been getting weird emails from friends about screensavers. i scan them, open them and nothing. they say they have nothing to do with it, but i've been getting them for weeks now, on my desktop appears a notepad message about a bunch hacking 'indians' which i immediatly deleted. other small strange things have been happening, like files dissappearing and my hompage becoming www.coderz.net. im fearing the worst. anyone with any advice PLEASE HELP!!!!
Guest Eagan469 Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 if you open up an E-Mail that's over 50k and there's nothing in it, you probably set a virus, worm, trojan or blackhole loose on your computer. Download a free virus-scan like AVG and find and remove those.
Guest MrRant Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Sounds like spyware/adware. Download Spybot.
Guest razazteca Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 get Zone Alarm and Ad-Aware now then goto update anti-virus programs.
Guest DrTom Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Best piece of advice to give: stop opening every email you get with an attachment, especially some kind of executable file. If your friends have gotten infected, you'll be one of the first people to know about it, since the virus/worm will typically send itself to everyone in their contact list.
