Guest Phr33k Report post Posted January 3, 2003 Okay, after watching most of the Habs/Canucks game on TSN tonight, I have to ask: why do they keep Patrice Brisebois around? He's supposed to be an offensive defenseman, right? However, he can't seem to really do either one right. He's not exactly beating Andrei Markov in the points department, and his offensive production is slipping. On the defensive side... I don't call him Breeze-by for nothing. Tied at 2, he got the puck right in front of Theodore, and proceeded to give it right to Markus Naslund and fall flat on his face, allowing Naslund to put an easy one past a fallen Theodore. This happens almost every game without fail. This guy is a liability at both ends, so why not trade him or release him or something? Give me some thoughts. Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted January 3, 2003 Well, he has been there for ages, right? Maybe they have some loyalty towards him? Perhaps he's blackmailing the GM? I really don't know man. Post count +
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted January 3, 2003 Because no one would take him as a realiable defence-man. He is good on some days and horrible the next as well. Its not just Breisbois its the whole Defence for montreal...
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted January 3, 2003 Because no one would take him as a realiable defence-man. He is good on some days and horrible the next as well. The Baron beat me too it ... with all the negative attributes that you list, who would take him? And he's not so bad that you'd waive him outright. Boston has an equivalent "talent" in Don Sweeney. Not that good offensively, not too bad defensively, but there every year. The solution? Contraction. Take away two teams, and the worst 12 d-men, 24 forwards, and 4 goalies would be in the minors and no longer stinking up our NHL.
Guest Phr33k Report post Posted January 3, 2003 No, he's THAT bad. With Breeze-by gone, you have a defense of Quintal, Souray, Markov, Dykhuis, Hainsey, and Traverse until Komisarek gets there. I don't see how that's a bad thing.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted January 4, 2003 c'mon, the defence is shit, especially when the opposition averages over 30 shots a game...
Guest Phr33k Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Tell me Brisebois isn't the only problem after THAT sorry display. He lost them the game all by himself, no help from anyone, except MAYBE the bad refereeing in the second.
