Guest ConchairtoHead Report post Posted January 3, 2003 I have some Gift Certificates for a music store and im looking at getting about 5 albums. Now, im interested in like Metal and Rock () I like the sound of most of the people on the WWF Forceable Entry cd. People like Disturbed, Saliva, and Fozzy (80's rock) you know. So what 5 would you recommend for me? (and i'd like a bit of diversity)

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted January 3, 2003 hmm..you'd probably dig these. Slayer-Divine Intervention Fear Factory-Demanufacture Van Halen-1984 Megadeth-Peace Sells...But who's Buying? Machine Head-Burn My Eyes That's a pretty decent mix of newer metal and 80's stuff. Slayer had to be recommended on principle.

Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted January 4, 2003 While I am not suprised in the least that Corey stuck Shadows Fall in there, I must say that I am SHOCKED and APPALLED to discover that I'm *not* the only person who actually likes post-Halford Judas Priest. Oh, and buy Iron Maiden's "Rock in Rio". Best CD ever.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted January 5, 2003 I actually prefer post-Halford. The music is darker, faster, and heavier.

Oh, and buy Iron Maiden's "Rock in Rio". Best CD ever. y'know, I love maiden, though I don't really collect their stuff, and I prefer the original double CD of 'best of the beast' cos there was more on it and it included live tracks as well. Rock in Rio is a thing of beauty though.

Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Is it even possible to still pick up the double-CD version of Best of the Beast? I've NEVER seen it anywhere. At least Rock in Rio is readily handy, and has the added bonus of Bruce Dickinson singing "Sign of the Cross" and "The Clansman". I mean, like I've said before, Blaze ain't bad, but he AIN'T Bruce. I have no real problems with old-school Judas Priest. I do perfer the current version though, because the music just seems more...full, if I can use that term in this context. It's probably because of the mixing or whatever, but still. The old stuff ain't bad, I'm just not as big a fan of it as I am the newer stuff.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted January 5, 2003 I like it when Bruce does Blaze's stuff, but he should never touch any D'ianno's stuff (a butchered Wrathchild, and Iron Maiden does not cut it) I've seen Best of the Beast as a double disc, though its rare now of days... Guest pochorenella Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Only from the 80s? I'm gonna list more than five... Motley Crue "Shout At The Devil" and "Too Fast For Love" Guns N' Roses "Appetite For Destruction" Def Leppard "Pyromania" AC/DC "Highway To Hell" and "Back In Black" Iron Maiden "Rock In Rio" and "Number Of The Beast" Scorpions "Blackout" Judas Priest "Screaming For Vengeance" Now, if you want some 70s stuff, that's another thing. Is it even possible to still pick up the double-CD version of Best of the Beast? I've NEVER seen it anywhere. At least Rock in Rio is readily handy, and has the added bonus of Bruce Dickinson singing "Sign of the Cross" and "The Clansman". I own the single-CD version of "Best Of The Beast" and I have to say the only song that I miss is "Revelations". Other than that it's a pretty complete Maiden collection. Thing is I've seen the double-disc version a lot. Have you checked Amazon.com? I'm sure it's available there, maybe as an import (a little more expensive than normal, but still). Guest subliminal_animal Report post Posted January 9, 2003 Now, im interested in like Metal and Rock () I like the sound of most of the people on the WWF Forceable Entry cd. People like Disturbed, Saliva, and Fozzy (80's rock) you know. I think he means primarily "nu-metal," guys. If you want that stuff, Target usually prices the CDs of slightly-below-radar groups like Breaking Benjamin (that's a very bad name) and whoever at under 10 dollars. Gift certificates, schmift shitificates.
Guest Adrian 3:16 Report post Posted January 9, 2003 New to hard music and you want 5 albums with diversity? Say no more... Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted January 9, 2003 Facelift over Dirt? Whoa. Not that it's a bad choice or anything, Facelift's an amazing album. Machine Head's older stuff is pretty decent, but they're really easy to grow out of, I think. I was all over Burn my Eyes and The More Things Change... for a while, but got burned out on them pretty quickly. I can still listen to Burn My Eyes, but everything else gets pretty tired. Their past couple albums have sucked supreme balls, though. and by the way, how in the fuck did I forget to recommend some Sepultura? Chaos AD and anything prior are all fucking amazing. Roots has some good material, too, but it's not as good as say, Beneath the Remains, or Schizophrenia.

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2003 The Deftones - The White Pony Metallica - Any thing except 'Load' and 'ReLoad' Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction Hey get Load and Reload too if you want. They're great albums. The only reason they get any flack is because people were expecting something else from Metallica. Very underrated albums in my eyes.
