Guest converge241 Report post Posted January 3, 2003 An ABC Radio report on Thursday quoted sources close to Cowboys' head coach Bill Parcells as saying he wants the Jets' Vinny Testaverde to be his quarterback in 2003, New York Newsday reported. A few weeks ago Testaverde told the New York media that he planned to return to the Jets in 2003. However, with Parcells taking over in Dallas, Testaverde may have changed his mind and wish to re-unite with his old coach. Testaverde's agent Mike Azzarelli simply said, "The best way I could answer that is, you just never know. I've said in the papers earlier that I would look at all options." courtesy fanball.com Parcells had better a) get Plummer b) keep Hutchinson either would be better..Vinny is all done
Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 3, 2003 Plummer is a the best choice out of any of the QB's who will be freed up at the end of the season but if Dallas expects to find success in him, they need to improve their O line. Vinny is 37 going on 38 years old. Parcells is nuts if he thinks that Grandpa Vinny is the answer for his QB mess in Dallas.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted January 3, 2003 I fully expect to see Stephen Davis in Dallas next year.. It will be the STUPIDEST move ever, more reason for me to not follow the Skins next year.. I don't think they'll get Plummer either, and I don't think Testaverde is the answer at QB.. Guest Flyboy Report post Posted January 3, 2003 They'll get Dorsey. ... ... ... ... What?
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted January 3, 2003 Vinny? HA!!! Might as well bring Ryan Leaf out of retirement.
Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted January 4, 2003 Jerry Jones must still be running the show.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 4, 2003 Well Vinny's best years were with Parcells so maybe Parcells can still work magic with Vinny's career.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted January 4, 2003 It would still be a step up from what they had last year.
Guest y2jailbait Report post Posted January 4, 2003 Vinny? HA!!! Might as well bring Ryan Leaf out of retirement. Please don't compare a man who's been in the league over 12 years to a burned out loser like Leaf. Vinny is great, and can at least fight for a starting position in Dallas of all places. Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 4, 2003 I am sure, Dallas Whom is #5 or #6 in the Draft wanted a QB would simply draft Banks, Palmer, or Leftwich. Isn't Kordell Stewart available after this season? And Marc Bulger?
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted January 4, 2003 Kordell isn't a free agent until after next year, but I'm sure trades will be considered. I'm not sure about Bulger, but I'm pretty sure the Rams will offer him a good deal first before anyone else is allowed too if he is a free agent.
Guest Angle Armbar Report post Posted January 4, 2003 I think Vinny can still play. He was solid until he got injured this year. Vinny could be used for the next 1-2 years, which the Cowboys will suck anyway, to groom a new QB. The problem with that is, Jerry Jones isn't giving up on Hutchinson and Carter, so they're doomed. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted January 5, 2003 There were talks Dallas would try to bring in a veteran QB to help out the young guys. I know Rodney Pete was mention if Dallas got the offensive coordinator from the Panthers. Hutchinson got mugged this year due to the O-line being weak. Wouldn't Plummer be too much money due to cap room for the Cowboys? Plus, like Choken One said, if Dallas wanted a OB (to be the guy) they would draft one. Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Plummer should be talking with the Niners since they apparently do have the cap room. Garcia isn't going to be around for long as I see him playing maybe another 2 years tops before he breaks down/retires. With the right coaching, Plummer could be the guy to fill the void Garcia will leave when he is gone. "The Snake" needs to get out of Arizona as it is just a shitty organization and Jake has picked up some bad habits because of his time there. Of course Tampa Bay could also use a good backup QB/future starter since their starting QB will be 35 this year and their two backups are just abysmal. Plummer desperately needs a break. If he takes a starting job on another God awful team with a lousy coaching staff then he will probably end up as a failure. Parcells should go after Mark Brunell or Brian Griese (if in fact the Bronocs do release him). Both guys can be franchise QB's but they need good lines that can block a good group of backs and receivers that can catch for them as well which both guys have had trouble with over the last couple years. I'm hoping that Dallas does nab Brunell along a running back, or group, to grind out his ground assault but I won't hold my breath.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 5, 2003 I really don't see Denver canning Greise after this season, He needs one more bad season to confirm he was absolute failure. I see alot of Love for Jake Plummer...Would he be willing to be a backup in S.F or T.B? Yeah, I am sure he is willing to stand sidelines in January. The defense is good just needs another season to completley develop and with Parcells on their ass, they'll pick up quicker. The Running Game (THE RIGHT running game) can still play for another season or two (but i wouldn't be shocked if Dallas nabs Larry Johnson if he is still avalible, although I'm thinking Detroit wants him). Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 5, 2003 I really don't see Denver canning Greise after this season, He needs one more bad season to confirm he was absolute failure. Apparently management is angry at Griese because they believed their own hype in the pre-season about how they were a Super Bowl favorite and thought they could make it. The disgust from management came after the Oakland/Denver game where everyone figured it was a lock that Denver would beat Oakland at home. I see alot of Love for Jake Plummer...Would he be willing to be a backup in S.F or T.B? Yeah, I am sure he is willing to stand sidelines in January. Jake better take whatever TB or SF offer him because they have good QB coaches. Jake should lean more towards SF since TB's offense can be terrible at times but at this point in Jake's career he should take whatever he can get from those two teams. The defense is good just needs another season to completley develop and with Parcells on their ass, they'll pick up quicker. The defense isn't the problem in Dallas but rather their shitty offense that couldn't make holes for any of their running backs this season or protect their merry-go-round of QB's. If Brunell is picked up by Dallas than Parcells had better also go hunting for a good O line coach as well to balance things out. This is by no means going to take Dallas to the playoffs but it will be a start in the right direction rather than the backasswards nature the team has taken for the last 3 seasons. The Running Game (THE RIGHT running game) can still play for another season or two (but i wouldn't be shocked if Dallas nabs Larry Johnson if he is still avalible, although I'm thinking Detroit wants him). I don't see Dallas picking up Johnson but I also don't see the Dallas management giving into Emmit's demands about getting more time with the ball after the poor season he had this year. If Emmit does in fact leave Dallas I have no idea where he could go since most teams could not match his salary in Dallas. I could have seen Emmit on the Raiders but they're capped out and there is no way Big Al is going to make room for him.

Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Washington apparently does have the cap room and since they have been a team in the past who has signed washed up stars (ala Deion) I could see it happening. Also add in that Snyder is a total fuckin idiot and I could see him giving Emmit one of the fattest contracts in the league while cutting lose some of his good players. Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 6, 2003 A buddy of mine who is a Skins fan mentioned it in passing a week or so ago that the Skins have cap room when I mentioned how the team is "financially capped out along with having no room to buy a brain for Snyder." But since you brought it up Verne I have not found anything on the net or the newspapers to suggest that he was correct. Hence why I said "apparently" since I was not 100% sure and took my buddy's word for it. It sounds like he was just another bitter Skins fan now. Does anyone here know what the Skins financial status is at the moment?
