Guest Mole Report post Posted January 4, 2003 What brings me to ask this question is the emergence of John Cena into the wrestling world as a rapper. I have read a few times that Cena is just as bad as Eminem, so it brings me to write this. Ever since Eminem has become a big star in America, it seems everyone is in love with him. He is the best selling recording artist of the year. His album, The Eminem Show, has sold 7.5 million records. The 8-Mile Soundtrack has sold 3.5 million records, with no signs of slowing down. It seems that most of America is in love with Eminem. However, not on this board. This is the only place I have read all this Eminem hatered. Just about everyone I talk to likes Eminem. Not only do the people I talk to like him, but so do most of the critics. Most of the reviews that I have read, have given all Em's three albums great reviews. My question is why is it here, on this board, I have read so much Eminem hatered? In my opinion, he is one the best rappers in the business today, if not ever. He is right up there with Biggie, Dre, Snoop, 2Pac, and Nas. His lyrics are just so good, it is amazing. You can give Em a topic, and he will find a way to rhyme it together, and make it amazing. For example, on the song "My Dad has Gone Crazy," the last few lines of the song, he says: And that's pretty much the gist of it/The parents are pissed but the kids love it/9 millimeter heater stashed in 2 seaters with meat cleavers/I don't blame you, I wouldn't let Hailie listen to me neither When I first heard that rip, I was in amazement. That is just an example on how great his lyrics are. And not only are his lyrics amazing, but his beats are too. And he isn't like P. Diddy, or whatever his name is, he actually makes his own music. Maybe he doesn't make all of it, but he does produce most of his own music now, which is task in its own. My favorite thing about Eminem is that he has a messege with every single song he writes, especially with his third album. White America talks about how America can be so dumb at times. Square Dance's messege is that this war isn't the answer. I could go on, but just listen to the songs yourself to hear the messege. I mean, this is coming from someone who no longer likes rap anymore, other than Eminem. I used to be a huge rap fan, but now I have moved on. My favorite band is now Phish, along with String Cheese, and Strangefolk. However, I can appreciate his skills as a rapper, just as I appreciate Phish. Let's face it, John Cena isn't anywhere near Eminem's league. So I really don't want to hear that again. Now, what is it YOU don't like about him?
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted January 4, 2003 I love Eminem. I have nothing to add to this thread until someone posts why they hate him.

Define "make" My favorite thing about Eminem is that he has a messege with every single song he writes Ooh, ooh, can I guess the "message" in this one? [Chorus: repeat 2X] "All I see is murder murder, my mind state" -> 2Pac "Makes it too late for cops in tryin' to stop the crime rate" -> Swift "All I see is murder murder, my mind state" -> 2Pac Murder murder murder, and kill kill kill! [Eminem] Left the keys in the van, with a gat in each hand Went up in Eastland and shot a policeman Fuck a peace plan, if a citizen bystands the shit is in my hands, here's yo' life span And for what yo' life's worth; this money is twice than You grab a couple grand and lay up in Iceland See I'm a nice man but money turned me to Satan I'm thirsty for this green so bad I'm dehydratin Hurry up with the cash bitch, I got a ride waitin Shot a man twice in the back when he tried escapin I want the whole pie, I won't be denied nathan Maybe I need my head inside straightened Brain contemplatin, clean out the register Dip before somebody catches ya or gets ya description and sketches ya Then connects you as the prime suspect But I ain't set to flee the scene of the crime just yet Cause I got a daughter to feed And $200 ain't enough to water the seed, the best thing would be for me to leave Taco Bell and hit up Chess King And have the lady at the desk bring money from the safe in the back, stepped in wavin the Mac Cooperate and we can operate and save an attack This bitch tried escapin the jack Grabbed her by the throat, it's murder she wrote You barely heard a word as she choked It wasn't nuttin for her to be smoked Then I slammed her on her back 'til her vertebrae broke Just then the pigs bust in yellin "Freeze!" But I'm already wanted for sellin ki's And bunch of other felonies from A to Z like spellin bees So before I dropped to the ground and fell on knees I bust shots, they bust back Hit the square in the chest, he wasn't wearin a vest [Chorus] [Eminem] Left the house, pullin out the drive backin out We were backin out this lady's Jag started blackin out Pulled the Mac-10 out, stuck it in her face Shut ya yakkin mouth, 'fore I blow the brain from out the back ya scalp Drug her by her hair, smacked her up Thinkin fuck it, mug her while you're there, jacked her up Stole her car, made a profit Grabbed the tape from out the deck and offed it out the window like the girl on "Set it Off" did Jetted off kid, stole the whip, now I'm a criminal Drove it through somebody's yard, dove into they swimmin pool Climbed out and collapsed on the patio I made it out alive but I'm injured badly though Parents screamin: "Son, go in and call the police Tell 'em there's a crazy man disturbing all of the peace!" Tried to stall him at least long enough to let me leap up Run in they crib and at least leave with some little cheap stuff Actin like they never seen nobody hit a lick before Smashed the window, grabbed the Nintendo 64 When they sell out in stores the price triples I ran up the block jumpin kids on tricycles And collided with an 80-year old lady with groceries There goes the cheese, eggs, milk and Post Toasties Stood up and started to see stars Too many siren sounds, it seemed like a thousand police cars Barely escaped, musta been some dumb luck Jumped up and climbed the back of a movin dump truck But I think somebody seen me maybe Plus I lost the damn Nintendo and I must-a dropped the Beanie Baby Fuck it I give up, I'm surrounded in blue suits Came out with a white flag hollerin "TRUCE TRUCE!" (Don't shoot!) Surrendered my weapon to cops Wasn't me! It was the gangsta rap and the peppermint Schnapps [Chorus] [CHORUS scratches to fade out]

Wow, are not appreciating what he just rhymed? And you picked a song from earlier in his career, when he was younger. Yes, there isn't a messege in that one. Actually, that song sucks by him. People can have bad songs at times. Okay, this song, and look at this messege: [Eminem] Never been the type to bend or budge The wrong button to push, no friend of Bush I'm the center piece, you're a Maltese I'm a pitbull off his leash, all this peace talk can cease All these people I had to leave in limbo I'm back now, I've come to release this info I'll be brief and let me just keep shit simple +Cani-bitch+ don't want no beef with Slim Nooooooo! Not even on my radar So won't you please jump off my dick, lay off and stay off And follow me as I put these crayons to chaos from séance to séance, aw-er-aw-er-aw-eh-a [Chorus 2X: Eminem] C'mon now, let's all get on down Let's do-si-do now, we gon' have a - good ol' time Don't be scurred, cause thurr ain't nothin to worry 'bout Let your hurr down (and square dance with me) [Eminem] Let your hair down to the track, yeah kick on back (boo!) The Boogiemonster of rap, yeah the man's back with a plan to ambush this Bush administration Mush the Senate's face in, push this generation of kids to stand and fight for the right to say somethin you might not like, this white hot light that I'm under, no wonder I look so sunburnt Oh no I won't leave no stone unturned Oh no I won't leave, won't go nowhere Do-si-do, oh-yo-ho, hello there Oh yeah, don't think I won't go there Go to Beirut and do a show there Yeah you laugh till your motherfuckin ass gets drafted While you're at band camp thinkin the crap can't happen 'Til you fuck around, get an anthrax napkin Inside a package wrapped in Saran Wrap wrappin Open the plastic and then you stand back gaspin Fuckin assassins, hijackin Amtraks, crashin All this terror, America demands action Next thing you know, you've got Uncle Sam's ass askin to join the Army or what you'll do for their Navy You just a baby, gettin recruited at eighteen You're on a plane now, eatin their food and their baked beans I'm twenty-eight, they gon take you 'fore they take me Crazy insane, or insane crazy? When I say Hussein, you say Shady My views ain't changed, still inhumane, wait Arraigned two days late, the date's today, hang me! [Chorus] [Eminem] Nothin moves me more than a groove that soothes me Nothin soothes me more than a groove that boosts me Nothin boosts me more, or suits me beautifully There's nothin you can do to me, stab me shoot me Psychotic hypnotic product, I got it the antibiotic Ain't nobody hotter and so on and yada yada God I talk a lotta hum-de-lay-de-la-la Oochie walla-walla, um-di-da-dah da-dah but you gotta gotta keep movin, there's more music to make Keep makin new shit, produce hits to break the monotony, what's gotten into me? Drugs, rock, and Hennessey, thug like I'm 'Pac on my enemies On your knees, got you under siege Somebody you would give a lung to be Hun-ga-ry, like a fuckin younger me Fuck the fee, I can get you jumped for free Yeah buddy, laugh it's funny, I have the money to have you killed by somebody who has nothing I'm past bluffing, pass the K-Y Let's get ready for some intense, serious ass fucking! What kind of music do you like Anglesault?
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 4, 2003 And 'make' his own music. You know, he gets on the drum beats, or the keyboard and writes the music. Actually Flyboy, it comes from the Cena topic. I told him to go in here so we can argue this.
Guest cartman Report post Posted January 4, 2003 I'll get flamed for this of course but the reason (I believe) that Eminem gets no love on THIS board is because THIS board has alot of Metalheads and Musical snobs that dont like things when they become popular...JUST because it's popular. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 4, 2003 From what I can tell, he's trying to make some sort of a statement on something. it kind of loses impact when you say "Jump off my dick." And apparently he doesn't want us defending the country. Okay, whatever. To each his own, I guess.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 4, 2003 I'm not really a metalhead. Hard rock, yes, heavy metal, no. At the end of that song he says: "I'm just playin' America. You know I love you." Did I miss that? So what the hell is his point?
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 4, 2003 And apparently he doesn't want us defending the country. At the end of that song he says: "I'm just playin' America. You know I love you." But, whatever. Well, the song I posted was Square Dance, but the song you were talking about was White America. Which is another song with a great messege, so I'll post that too: America!! Hahaha! We love you! How many people are proud to be citizens of this beautiful country of ours? The stripes and the stars for the rights that men have died for to protect The women and men who have broke their necks for the freedom of speech the United States government has sworn to uphold.. (Yo, I want everybody to listen to the words of this song) .. or so we're told [Eminem] I never woulda dreamed in a million years I'd see so many motherfuckin people, who feel like me Who share the same views and the same exact beliefs It's like a fuckin ARMY marchin in back of me So many lives I touched, so much anger aimed in no particular direction, just sprays and sprays And straight through your radio waves, it plays and plays 'til it stays stuck in your head, for days and days Who woulda thought; standin in this mirror bleachin my hair with some peroxide, reachin for a t-shirt to wear that I would catapult to the forefront of rap like this? Guest Mole Report post Posted January 4, 2003 Yeah, which is a good messege. "Don't defend your country" is a good message? Why? He is talking about us going to war with Iraq, and if the draft might happens. I don't think we should go to war with Iraq, so if you don't believe in something, why defend the country? Did anyone see a chorus? Nope.
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 4, 2003 No, I have no clue what the hell he was trying to accomplish with that. So name a few bands you like then. Just curious, thats all. Beatles, Wings, Stones, Aerosmith, Eagles. Can tolerate the Doors. You can't figure out what he is saying in that? Basically, that every kid in America is in love with him, and that the gov't hates him. And the fact that he is white, and that is the only reason why he is doing so well. He is white, he can rap well, so America can relate to him. Just download the song, and listen to it. His point gets across a lot easier that way. And you have a good taste in music. Are you a fan of the Dead?
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 4, 2003 Well, I was posting the songs that he gets messeges across. Actually, I love the song 'Square Dance.' But yes, Rabbit Run is a great rip. Just a straight out freestyle, which he rips hardcore.

Guest Mole Report post Posted January 4, 2003 People... it's not hard to use the Backspace key. Huh, that towards me? But Anglesault, bascially you just listen to a completly different type of music. I happen to love that type of music also. I understand why you wouldn't like Em, however, just please don't call Cena just as bad as he is. A smart man like you, can atleast tell that Cena's lyrics are NO WHERE as good as Em's. You have to admit that.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 4, 2003 I do think that that's what he's (Cena) going for. And I'm not one to really go and look up lyrics, so if I can't undestand what Eminem is saying, I'm not going out of my way to look it up, and I'm going by how similar they sound. Guest Mole Report post Posted January 4, 2003 And the fact that he is white, and that is the only reason why he is doing so well. Now, that's not necessary. There are no successful Black people in the US? Now really. No, you missed the point. There aren't too many rap artists who sold just as many records as he did. So far, Eminem as sold 22 million records all together, and that is still counting. Yes, there are successfull black people in this country, no shit. Eminem is saying that he wouldn't of done as well if he wasn't white. That is one thing that is so appealing about him. He is white and can rap just as well as black people can. That is one messege he gets across in White America.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted January 4, 2003 Huh, that towards me? I understand why you wouldn't like Em, 1. Yes. All that quotating is making the page long as hell. 2. He hates rap... leave him alone. Can't preach to the choir if they aren't listening... or something like that.
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 4, 2003 Okay, I am not going to get across to you about this, no matter how long I argue. You are one stubborn bastard. You should have an argument with my friend Mike, you might enjoy that one actually. Let's put it this way. Vanilla Ice was a terrible rapper, and Cena sounds just like him. If Eminem were to sound just like Ice and Cena, he wouldn't be still around, selling 22 million records all together. To a person who doesn't listen to rap, you wouldn't really know who or what sounds good or not. It is like my mother, she doesn't listen to rap, so she says it all sounds the same. She loves flowers, but all flowers are the same to me. Same type of deal. Do you get what I am saying?
