Should Disney stop their current limited edition

Recommended Posts

Guest Anglesault

I am a big fan of Disney animated films. I decided to start buying them on DVD, after seeing how nicely they do their DVDs. So far, I have Monster's Inc, Lilo and Stitch, and of course, the awesome Beuty and the Beast Double DVD. I was looking into some others, but I realized that many of them are back in the vault until 2007 or whatever. I wasn't aware that they were still doing this. What exactly does it accomplish? An extra boost in sales everytime they are re-released, I would assume. I guess it's a pretty good business plan. But do you think it would be better to just have them all out at all times for people?

I didn't know they were doing that but I knew they just took ET back off the shelves. It's retarded to me. Seems like it'd make a lot more money if were you know....AVAILABLE TO BE BOUGHT. All this means is that people will be paying 2-3 times the original price on ebay to buy used copies that the studios could be selling for themselves.

Seeing how Disney is in a bit of a $$$ pinch, I don't see why they don't capitalize on their DVD sales potential...

Beauty & The Beast is going to go "Back In The Vault" on the 31st of this month, but I still see Snow White Platinum Ed. at some stores so its probably a marketing scheme.

Disney's whole attitude towards DVDs just irritates me.

Will they freaking just release Alladin and Lion King already!!!!!!!!!

Hasn't Disney always done this though? I can remember special edition VHS's getting released every so often from Disney when I was younger.

I'm almost positive the Lion King is this Fall.

Here's how to keep track of the platinum releases

Whatever gets a big IMAX/Large Screen Release in January will probably be relased that fall on DVD.

I for one want to know why they put the 2 disc Collector's series of A Bug's Life into mothballs, I kick myself for not getting it when I had the chance. And where's the 2 disc Tarzan, I only see Tarzan & Jane these days

They also do these "Limited Issue" releases for some movies like Pinocchio and Peter Pan. It's pretty pointless.

They probably have to go through and remove all the hidden sexual stuff before releasing them since it's easier to find on DVD.

Eh, they do this just to get you to rush out and spend money, get you all in a panic before the put them back in the "vault". To me it's kinda stupid, but then again I don't own my own multi-billion dollar company with a rat figure-head.

I think they just do this because they can. Disney was THE company for animated films, and still are. Well, not for 2-D art, but 3-D art.

Every Pixar film released has been awesome.

Another reason is they like to add all new shit everytime. It's still dumb.

BTW, I was checking out the special features in BandB, and Bah Gawd, I wasn't aware that the title song was meant to e shrieked. Between Celine and Jump 5, they were SCREAMING the song, as opposed to singing it softly, like you know, the original.

my girlfriend's family has all the old disney movies on vhs. the ORIGINAL cover to the little mermain with the dildo-like picture on it. The Lion King that spells out "sex" in the stars...I wonder if all that stuff will be edited out for the dvd release?
