Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 9, 2002 I had an epiphany. Hollywood Hogan is not an icon. The Hulkster was an icon. Terry Bollea plays both characters, and the match will suck regardless, but I think the match is missing that special feel because it's Hollywood Hogan. I think the Rock vs. The Hulkster would have been a much more appealing matchup. Whaddya think?
Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Report post Posted March 9, 2002 You are absolutely right on that, imo. Rocky vs. the Real American would rock all kinds of ball six ways from sunday. And not because it would be a great match. It would instantly have to be the MOTY simply for mark out value. Kinda like 12 years ago in Skydome.
Guest DEEP THOUGHT Report post Posted March 9, 2002 Isn't "Hulkster" still a trademark held by Marvel comics? Does the WWF still have permission to use it?
Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Report post Posted March 9, 2002 I didn't know Marvel had a trademark on Hulkster. That doesnt seem right to me since I would think Terry would own the rights to it. Or more likely, Vince would, since he own "Hulkamania" and whatnot. Guest mastermind Report post Posted March 9, 2002 Yeah, marvel owns some kind of part of Hulk at least because of Incredible Hulk. I can't remember all the details, but maybe Hulkster as well. That's why in wcw, Hogan starting telling fans to say Hollywood Hogan. Then again, last night a nightclub I saw Hollywood Hulk Hogan vs. Rock commercials like 20 times on satelite. So, who knows. I had that scenario in mind about nWo turning on Hogan this monday. If the wwf uses a short term stint and let Hogan go after a year. Just be the same Hollywood attitude, but wear the red and yellow pants and weight belt. Then again...
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 9, 2002 Marvel does own some sort of rights to the "Hulk" name. WCW & the WWF had to pay fees to use it. The problem I see with The Hulkster is him pushing his '80s stuff. It happened in WCW. I think we'll get to see Real American Hogan vs. American Hero Kurt Angle before Hogan is done. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 9, 2002 "Hulkster" would just get laughed or booed out of the arena. "80s WWF" is considered nothing but joke material now. I mean hell WWF themselves has gone out and made their cheesy past into comedy routines. Besides i don't think very many fans outside of the insane ones who still think Hogan is a god really want to see Hulk Hogan return.
