It jumped the shark when they both happend to get a job at the newspaper, and they both happend to start dating their voloptuous blonde neighbors. I always thought it was funny that Bronson Pinchot got all of the attention and the guy who played Larry (and God help me, I cannot remember his name) was the funnier of the two.
