cawthon777 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Anyone catch 'Joe Millionaire' last night? Much better than Raw, hilarious, and had some mighty fine looking ladies on there (especially Melissa (?), the curly haired burnette). I wonder if "money grubbing whore" can be turned into a wrestling chant...
Guest DrTom Report post Posted January 7, 2003 I watched it because I never bother watching Raw live anymore, and because something had to fill the void of MNF. I think this show will prove an interesting, if rather cynical, exercise in social darwinism. The credibility factor isn't very high, though, since the guy they picked is rather barbaric looking, and obviously doesn't have the refinement or intelligence a millionaire (even one who's only had that status for a few years) could afford. And yes, I liked Melissa M, too. And Zara (?), the tall brunette.

Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted January 7, 2003 I didn't get a chance to watch. Did they eliminate any women at the end of the first show and if so, were they told that he's not moneybags?
Guest JangoFett4Hire Report post Posted January 7, 2003 per Lorna?
Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Dude comes off as captain caveman and shit. But why is he feeling guilty tricking these golddigging broads? I bet if he gets some he won't feel guilty anymore. They should've a fat or ugly guy for a fake millionaire then have him pick and fuck the most shallow bitch there, and then tell her at the end of the series that he is broke. Guest Still Fly Report post Posted January 7, 2003 To me Joe Millionaire is a good clean harmless show. Itll be funny to see the girls reaction after they find out hes not a millionaire. The star seems kind of a boob since he almost gave the game away the first show! Joe Millonaire to me seems like a mix of most of the reality shows on today. I just dont see how 20 self respecting women cant compete for the love of a man they dont know. It seems stupid to me.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted January 7, 2003 the guy who stars is training to be a wrestler in UPW per the Observer If that's true, then the $19K/yr salary is pretty optimistic... Not a bad show, and definitely not one that could be done again, but it's a fun distraction. And a lot better than last night's Raw.
Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted January 7, 2003 The way I see it, this show can't lose. Maybe, just maybe we'll learn that in this cold, cynical world we populate, that there are a few innocent souls left who still have the courage to believe in love and the innocence to believe that there are more important things in our brief time here than money. On the other hand, if the woman finds out he's not a millionaire and dumps him, we all have a good chuckle at other people's emotions. Either way, it's great television. Guest Incandenza Report post Posted January 7, 2003 I'd almost feel sorry for these women, seeing as how they are intentionally being misled. However, due to their greed and stupidity, fuck 'em.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Nope I didn't watch. Hell i didn't even know it was on. But honestly i wouldn't have watched it even if i did remember when it was coming on.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Fox has a seemingly endless supply of ways to make people look stupid don't they? The premise for the show made me laugh when I seen a TV spot of it but I'll stay the fuck away from it.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted January 7, 2003 "If that's true, then the $19K/yr salary is pretty optimistic..." thats only his PART TIME construction salary the dude is also a male model
Guest imajackoff? Report post Posted January 7, 2003 They couldnt have found a better guy for this. This guy could be Scott Hall's younger, dumber brother. The fact that he didnt begin to realize the magnitude of the lie he was about to purport until he actually met the ladies, shows how dense he is. Another interesting point about this guy that will lead to drama is that he is a HORRIBLE liar. This will make the women look even dumber, when all is said and done. And, isnt that what its all about??
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Being the idiot I am, I watched Raw instead. I do plan on watching the finale of this show at the very least. Classic TV right there.
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I'm pretty sure the women at the end won't marry him, and her reason will be because he already lied to her once (about he money).
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Maybe these women are being misled, but if the woman is smart, she will at least stick with him for the 6 months following the show because I am sure the publicity and the interviews with GMA and Barbara Walters and book deals....etc....will garner a hefty sum of money for the new couple. Guest starvenger Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I agree, but I'm sure that the money from the inevitable Playboy spread will help ease the pain...

Guest Mole Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I won't watch this show because I hate reality shows. I boycott reality shows on network TV because when Survivor came out, they claimed to be the first reality show. However, MTV was doing reality shows YEARS before CBS. That just pissed me off, so I won't watch reality shows on network TV. I'll watch the last 5 minutes of the last episode just to see the ladies reaction to how much money Joe really makes. Fox picked the most handsome guy they could find for this show. It will help the girl when she founds out that he makes jack shit. She might not care because he is a great looking guy, but if he is a dumb as everyone claims, then maybe not. Question though: How did he almost give away the whole point of the show right away? Thanks fellas. Mole

That just pissed me off, so I won't watch reality shows on network TV. You've mentioned this before, I believe. And while Survivor is not the first reality show, neither is the Real World. MTV took the idea from the networks (or at least PBS), and the networks took it back. So feel free to end your boycott. Question though: How did he almost give away the whole point of the show right away? He's allegedly adverse to being deceptive, and when caught off guard with a question, tends to get a "deer in the headlights" look. Plus there was that inability to mount a horse, seeing as he had just learned not 10 minutes before how to do so.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted January 8, 2003 A show like Joe Millionaire is just more proof that even supposedly self-respecting professional women looking for true love and romance (insert canned laughter here) can find it in front of a national audience competing with 25 other like-minded women for a $50 Million Dollar price. Geez, some women are whores. I wonder how they feel sitting at home watching themselves be so phony and digging for gold now as a loser? Sluts.

MTV took the idea from the networks (or at least PBS), and the networks took it back. So feel free to end your boycott. Oh, I didn't know that MTV got the idea from someone else. However, my boycott still stands because Survivor still claimed to be the first reality show. That is why I am boycotting it.

No, remember the Ladies know that he INHERITED the money...So he wasn't born Rich...so it's plausable that they chalked it up to learning.

Guest hardyz1 Report post Posted January 10, 2003 Something I heard on the radio this morning. It's only a rumor... FOX may be swerving all the viewers, not the women. This guy may in fact be a millionaire and they are tricking the people watching the show. I don't really believe it, but it's interesting to consider.
