Paul Stanley 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 from 1wrestling.com Matt Hardy took time out of his busy schedule to visit a fan who he found out was extremely ill. Matt Hardy made 43 year old wrestling fan, Alice Cooper, the happiest fan on the earth. Alice Cooper was suffering from cancer, and Matt found out she needed a visit from him, and he made it possible. Dr. Mike Lano informed me, that Matt nearly missed his scheduled flight to Anchorage, Alaska. After the San Francisco - Cow Palace show, Matt made sure that Alice Cooper had an enjoyable hour with one of her favorite WWE Superstars. Alice was totally lucid and talkative while Matt visited with her at the Hotel. But Alice soon lapsed into unconsciousness and passed away yesterday morning. Thankfully Matt's visit took her mind off her intense pain and suffering (breast and liver cancer, that was so rapid it was untreatable). Luna told me today, that Alice died of liver failure. Ms. Cooper never missed a Kirk White/BTW show. Kirk White made Matt aware of her plight, and Matt had Kirk set up the meeting after the show. Ms. Cooper ran a National business making humorous cakes for Celebrities and Rock Stars. Yesterday, I also spoke to Ms. Cooper's friend, Luna, who came to tears talking about her friend. Luna gave me a link to their fan site which is dedicated to the Hardy's. There are pictures of Alice with her many wrestling favorites on the site. Url: http://www.angelfire.com/stars2/ATwistOfFate/ Our deepest condolences to Alice Cooper's family and friends. And to Matt Hardy, thank you for doing something so very special. --- That's a really a nice thing to hear.
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Report post Posted January 8, 2003 1 more reason to like Matt Hardy: not just a great wrestler with a great gimmick, but a great person as well.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Good for Matt Hardy. The WWE superstars do a lot of great things for the less fortnuate. Rock even won an award from the Make a Wish Foundation. It's very nice of Matt to take time off his extremely busy schedule just to help ease someone's pain
Guest spiny norman Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Oh, at first I thought it was rock legend Alice Cooper. I was thinking he'd have to be more than 43. Anyway, yeah, that's great to see Matt Hardy doing that for a fan. He's fast becoming one of my fave wrestlers.
Guest Garbage Man Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I hope two things come out of this. WWE acknowleges this on Smackdown or Confidential, and they don't make Matt cut a heel promo about it, or if they do, he ought to refuse.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Best to acknowledge it on Confidental.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 That was nice to read. Glad to hear that Matt is taking the time out be a nice guy. Really a touching story.

Matt's a class act--and do a lot of wrestlers do this? I've heard of a few here and there.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I remember seeing something about Flash Flunk doing something similar for a fan before WrestleMania 14... But still, it's rare to read about it. IT's good to hear though.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Andrew- I know WWE is very big with the Make a Wish Foundation
Guest Gathering Moss Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I believe a lot of WWE guys do these. I doubt Crash Holly got one yet. Nice to hear.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I wonder if this was HHH if people would have the same response, or if we'd be saying he's trying to hold down disease.
Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I really hope this is true.
Guest jester Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I wonder if this was HHH if people would have the same response, or if we'd be saying he's trying to hold down disease. I think even we would give HHH a break on that one.

I think even we would give HHH a break on that one. I agree. Though the cynic in me would be upset that his was being more publicized (because you know they'd make a bigger deal out of it for him than anyone else), I would still give him props for doing it. And he probably has done it in the past, I'm guessing; if so, good for him. Giving somebody your time is a lot harder than giving them material objects. Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Given the media's opinion of pro wrestling, I'm sure they would twist the story around by saying Matt Hardy GAVE Alice Cooper cancer...
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Now tookmybaby, I really hope you were being SUPER sarcastic with that remark. No one is that ignorant or anything. The media can see when people do nice things. Mole
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Best to acknowledge it on Confidental. I would actually rather they didn't. Let a good deed stand on its own, rather than have it look like you're milking it. Which, regardless of how tasteful the segment is put together and sincere everyone involved is (and was), it will still look like, particularly since Alice died and has died so recently. Guest Ram Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Given the media's opinion of pro wrestling, I'm sure they would twist the story around by saying Matt Hardy GAVE Alice Cooper cancer... And then the REAL Alice Cooper would return, setting up a tag match with THE HULKSTER/Cooper v. Matt/Shannon. Cool to hear Matt's giving back.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Now see folks, Pro Wrestlers ain't all that bad people, are they?
Guest Texas Small Arms 09 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Very nice and sweet of Matt. And yes the WWE is heavy into the Make A Wish Foundation. At Wrestlemania Axxess I know they let all the Make A Wish kids in free and they all have up close and personal time with the stars of their choosing. The media can see when people do nice things. Mole You mean like when Mick Foley made a heartfelt plea to Backyard wrestlers to stop the nonsense during an interview on 20/20..............except 20/20 butchered the interview post production so that it sounded like Foley was condoning it? Yeah the media acknowledges wrestlers who are trying to do the right thing. Okay that was one instance I know, but that still pisses me off.

Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted January 9, 2003 "Now tookmybaby, I really hope you were being SUPER sarcastic with that remark. No one is that ignorant or anything. The media can see when people do nice things." Mole, my man, when Big Media doesn't like someone or some industry, they go after it with both barrels. Pro wrestling is one of those industries. BTW: There was a bit of sarcasm in there, too...
