I've only seen Timmy Ho's in Detroit, and they're pretty much like the ones in Canada (Windsor, btw, seems to have a Tim Horton's on EVERY OTHER CORNER, not to mention in the duty free shops). Dunkin' Donuts is still much more prevalent there, but their coffee (and donuts) seriously bite.

what is this Tim Horton you speak of?

Tim Horton's is a very popular donut store chain up in Canada, started up by the late Tim Horton, a former member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. It's now owned by Wendy's and is actually responsible for Wendy's being the fastest growing fast food conglomerate over the past few years.

Tim Horton's is known mostly for it's good coffee (they (allegedly) brew at least one fresh pot about every 20 minutes as a rule) and more recently it's iced "cappucino's", which are damn good. On a obscure movie note, the "Stan Mikita Donuts" featured in "Wayne's World" were based on Tim Horton's.

As far as I know, the only ones in the US are right near the Canada border ... I went on a hockey road trip a year ago, and everytime we passed one we commented on the chili bowl that they were hard-selling in EVERY advertisement. I swear, there's more Tim Hortons up there then there are Dunkin Donuts down here.

There probably are, on a per capita basis. There's a joke that your town isn't on the map until you get a Tim Horton's.

Hey, I never said it was a funny joke...

I think there are some Tim Horton's in upstate New York, too.

As an example of how many of these places there are, I live in a city of about 21,000 people, and there are 4 full sized restaurants and another drive-thru-only one. You seriously cannot drive more than 3 or 4 minutes without finding one. It's insane.

I don't drink coffee, so I can't tell you if there's is any better than anywhere else's coffee. Their donuts, muffins, hot chocolate, and anything else I've ever had from there has been good.

I think there are some down in Florida too because of the old Canadians who move down south for the winter.

Tim Hortons owns all ....

Mostly because the majority of them are open 24 hours, thus after a night of drinking , one can acquire mad donuts and sammiches.

ROCK.

Here in the Buffalo suburban area we have Timmy Ho's ALL OVER.

Differences between here and across the border? Better selection, bigger stores. They have to compete with Krispy Kreme here for Christ sakes

RRRrrrrrol up the rim to win!

Ok, get this...

I work at Wal-Mart. At the far end of the parking lot, there's a bus terminal by the right corner of the lot. There's a Tim's in there.

On the far left corner, there's a full Tim's.

Across the street is a shopping mall. There's a Tim's in there.

Behind the Wal-Mart is another, really shitty mall that is more like 3 bookstores with a food court. There's a Tim's in there.

The worst part is, all this property is owned by the SAME PERSON.

You can tell how close you are to the East coast of Canada by counting the Tim's, I swear.

I drink coffee from there rarely. It's too addictive.

That sounds a lot like Windsor actually.

It also reminds me of how Starbucks operates in the States. In the Galleria mall in Houston, there are 3 floors divided into 3 parts each (basically a 3x3 grid). There seems to be at least one Starbucks kiosk in EACH section. And then there is one in the Barnes and Noble across the street. Bloody scary...

You don't mean Windsor, Nova Scotia, by any chance, do you?

Oddly, as much as the Starbucks overbreeding is made fun of, there are hardly any around here in good ole Charleston, SC.

We don't have many starbucks around here either, kotz. I think they hit the Mississippi river and get discouraged.

There are Tim Horton's all over Ohio.

If you have Wendys in your area you'll have a Tim Hortons before long.

Most of the new Wendys that are built are half Wendys and half Tim Hortons

Nope. Windsor, Ontario. I've only been to Halifax and New Glasgow in Nova Scotia, about 12 years ago.

Ah, ok. I was just curious, because there is a Windsor out here as well, and Tim Hortons are more common around here then people.

the Dallas Grapevine Mills mall has 4 Starbucks in it. Also nearly every Barnes & Noble bookstore has one.

Working at Tim Hortans for about 5 months, we do put a fresh pot on every 20-30 minutes (depends on the time) but usually though, a pot will last about 15 min. on average.

Damn people in the XL Cup for 1.40 or something like that

And let's not forget the two Starbucks on the corner of Shepherd and West Gray.

That's right kiddos, there are:

a pair of Starbucks on...

the same street...

right across...

from each other.

Talk about ghey.

Hey, when you need a non-fat soy white mocha latte with extra foam and sweetener, you NEED a non-fat soy white mocha latte with extra foam and sweetener.

Um, is there even such a thing? I just stick to (non-Starbucks) coffee...
