Guest nikowwf Report post Posted January 8, 2003 You know, would it kill the WWE to announce the damn PPV card? It makes sense on so many levels...it forces them to plan more than one week in advance so the booking is not so confused, it gives the PPV matches more heat, and it gives us something to talk about rather than just complaining and wondering what the hell the card is. So far I see 5 rumble participants announced, and 3 other matches. The show is ONE week away. niko
Guest converge241 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I agree they got great response for announcing the summerslam card and playign the graphics of the matchups over and over again..pick a lineup and push it damnit!
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Confirmed Angle vs Benoit Brock vs Big Show Steiner vs HH The Rumble Itself Rumoured Los Guerreros vs The Bling Boys Dudleys vs Commonwealth Connection Honestly, what's with the bitching? I'm sure you're a smart kid and figure out the matches itself, why do you need the WWE to announce them for you?
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 So Los Guerreros are face now?
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted January 8, 2003 When's the last time they've really set up a good ppv and given it a right push...was it Summerslam?
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted January 8, 2003 So Los Guerreros are face now? I guess it'll depend on how they act on Smackdown this week...last week it seemed like they were pushing them as faces
Guest eiker_ir Report post Posted January 8, 2003 i don't have a problem with the Rumble, i mean is alwayas bout 4-5 matches with the Rumble itself, so with 3 announced already u pretty much have the whole card
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 That's just going to be weird...having Eddy as a face. Haven't seen that in a while. I wish that they would decide after Survivor Series: OK, we are going to have HHH v. Steiner at the Rumble. Get the promo people on that. And then build to it. It seems to garner more attention than having stupid ass posedowns and muscle rubs and shit. Also, it allows them to do the "Zero Tolerance" angle, where neither guy can touch the other one, or else they're both suspended. I'll get it just for Benoit v. Angle. That will be worth it. Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted January 8, 2003 The WWE had a picture perfect chance right after Unforgiven to turn Eddy face after his blowoff hardcore match with Edge on Smackdown there were "Eddy" chats all over the place, but they fucked it up. (like they do most everything else.)
Guest Joejigatame Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I don't know, I think the response to Eddie in that match was due to his performance that night, not anything long term. The following week, he was still given a heel reaction. He was more valuable as a heel at that time than as a face, so I don't blame WWE for not trying to follow up on it. Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 8, 2003 With the rumble, The main draw of the show is known far in advance, allowing WWE to feel announcing the card is meaningless since the draw is already there... No one is ordering Rumble for Angle/Beniot only, You get rumble for the goddamn rumble.
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I get the ppvs no matter what...it would just be nice to know the matches in advance. Yes, you can figure it out yourself, which makes my point even more. If they know it, why not announce it? The problem this month is not as bad, yes because the rumble has less matches. niko
Guest converge241 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I disagree that it is soley for the Rumble HHH-Steiner will get some more buys (based off Steiner popping ratings and being protected) HHH- Foley I Quit was featured for that year's event and prominently hyped Mostly ordered for the rumble itself , but not totally
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Honestly, what's with the bitching? I'm sure you're a smart kid and figure out the matches itself, why do you need the WWE to announce them for you? By that logic, we'd assume HBK vs. Jericho for the Royal Rumble was a go, but this week, we found out not. Until it's confirmed, we don't know if they are going to do it or have it later, or drop it. Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 The Rumble itself isn't the reason that I order the show. Whenever there's a match or two on the card that I really want to see, I'll order. If not, fuck it, I'll watch FOX's Sunday Lineup.
Guest Brian Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Nah, I didn't think they'd get to HBK/Jericho. It seemed more like a rumble confrontation. The rumble's a perfect vehicle to push feuds an extra month. I like the way they're building Steiner/HHH, just because it's showcased their strengths without a ton of promos or ringwork, and I can't imagine Bischoff doing zero tolerance since Trips s his champ and Steiner's the big contract he went after. Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I'm not entirely intrigued by the buildup. ESPN has plenty of bodybuilding shows on at 3AM, and if I wanted to watch that, I would. I watch wrestling for wrestling. HHH/Jericho v. HBK/Steiner would be a pretty big tag match, and I'm sure that it'd be a better vehicle to advance the feuds a bit more. Guest Brian Report post Posted January 8, 2003 They're making sure Steiner doesn't touch Triple H. That's the whole point. Therefore, no matches.
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted January 8, 2003 And that may be a good thing, as evidenced in this link. Report from last night's house show in El Paso. (Warning: It's from 1wrestling, thus a pop-up stopper is strongly recommended) The disclaimer paragraph made me laugh.
