I need more help

Recommended Posts

Guest The Metal Maniac

So, my speakers just totally shat out on me.

I was listening to a song, and one speaker cut out, so I assumed the cord was loose, unplugged it, and plugged it back in.

My speakers began to make a funny kind of clicking noise, and Winamp started not playing any MP3's. It just didn't do anything.

I've since re-started my computer, to no avail. I have NO idea what to do, and the damned things don't work.

Help please.

Don't Listen To That Much Maiden... Your Computer Will Thank You For It...

I don't think it's the speakers themselves though...now the computer is giving me messages like...

"The Specified driver is already in use. Wait until it is free, then try again"

I can't figure out WHY though...Nothing's changed, except this.

Remove and reinstall your sound card in Device Manager. You might need the CDs it came with to do this. If that doesn't work, remove the sound card in Device Manager, then open the PC and reseat it.

I used to get that error message when running Windows 95/98, but only when I was say, playing an MP3 in WinAmp, and trying to play a WAV file in Sound Recorder at the same time.

Dumb question, (but since I work at a College's IT department, I'm used to asking them), have you rebooted since you started getting the message?
