Fav. None Guitar Solo

Recommended Posts

Guest Dace59

Been as Guitar solos are the most common, and most talked about ones.. what about others, Bass, Drum, Keyboard, etc (If there are other, the elitest should be able to inform me)?

I'm just wondering, so input please people.

This is ones you like, not technically brillant ones.

Or just ones that are cool.

For me:

Dream Theater.. doing the middle bit of the second Master of Puppets solo on the key board, sounded pretty good to me.

Cliff Burton, over rated, yer, but one of his last live solos floating around is still good to listen too, and I havent heard anyone else do the National Anthem (of America) on the bass, though I'm sure other people have done it.

Those are two that come to mind.

Please, add and recomend to others.

Stu Hamm has some amazing bass solos, and Roger Waters at the beginning of One of these days I really like.

Carter Beauford at the end of Halloween and the beginnign of #36 covers the drums.

For keyboards I have to call on Rick Wakeman, from Yes, to do some Close to the Edge action.

Les Claypool has done some pretty unbelievable bass solos in his time, that goes without saying. I think the studio version of 'Harold of the rocks' from frizzle fry is my favourite.

Peter Criss' drum solo one alive (I or II?) is fucking funny cos it's so lame but I can't help but love original KISS so I love it.

I really like the messy piano solo on 'how the west was won and where it got us' by REM too.

The violin solo in Aphex Twin's Outside is awesome.

The drum solo from In a gadda da vida (I don't think I spelled it right) is good, but everybody already knows that probably.

Burton's bass solo's are among the best solo's, for all instruments, recorded in the modern age.

John Bonham played a 95 minute drum solo when I saw Zep in '75. It was like seeing God.

I was stoned.

Primus' bass solos are insane. Check out the live version of Tommy the Cat, off of Rhinoplasty unbelievably fast and accurate. The easiest bass solo I've ever heard that still sounds cool is the bass solo in Propaganda by Sepultura. I mean, yeah, it's only one note over and over again, but it still manages to rule.
