Guest bob_barron Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 From Meltz- Also on the shows they announced at the Rumble that participants will enter every 60 seconds, instead of the usual two minutes, which means basically a 35 minute Rumble instead of a 65 minute one. While we are now eight days away, still only a handful of participants have been announced.
Guest the pinjockey Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Well, I am now going to change my prediction from Brock to Jericho actually going the distance. Now he can go the distance without destroying Shawn's win from one since he did it with 60 second intervals.
Guest AndrewTS Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Looking for a bright side, they may announce more GOOD matches now.
Guest The Superstar Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 NOOOOOOOOOOOO. This either means that a)Jericho wins (not bad, but he'd just lose to HBK the next month) or b) Vince thinks he needs to cater to those with short attention spans.
Guest CanadianChick Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Dammit! I hated those 1 minute intervals. And why? It'd not like they have a stellar card (save Angle/Benoit) to begin with.
Guest Downhome Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Ugh, a speed up Rumble sounds like it could hurt. Of course, they need room for all of the other matches, so we knew SOMETHING would be cut short, it's just too bad it wasn't some of the other matches. On a side note... ...will WWE offer this to watch on their website? When do they usually have that option go up?

Guest bob_barron Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Well they've announced 3 non-RR matches plus a segment involving the Undertaker, Assuming they announce two tag title matches I guess they have to squeeze everything in. Here's an idea- put one of the tag title matches on HEAT.

Yes it is, HBK basicly just said it on Byte this. Someone from RAW will win, but it wont be HBK or Jericho.
Guest bcu1979 Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Michaels/Jericho at WM doesn't appear to be a sure thing. According the Observer, Michaels has propsed a legends match at Mania between him and Flair. But Meltzer isn't sure about it happening because they would have to rebuild Flair first. I guess Michaels envisions his feud with Jericho ending at NWO with Michaels going over of course. Michaels/Flair is just the match for a card that is likey to have Rock/Goldberg, Triple H/Nash and Vince/Bischoff among its top matches.
Guest candie45 Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Boooooo! The rumble should always be at least an hour long.

HBK has already said publicly that he will not be able to wrestle another full match untill WM at the very least. It's possible he could, but it's what has been said for weeks.
Guest HartFan86 Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 This is going to piss off a lot of people like it did in 1995. They should be at least 1:30.
Guest Damn You Helmsley Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Well the Rumble needs to be quick so that the Torrie/Dawn match can get the recognition it deserves.
Guest Downhome Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 I hope they build the match to the point where there are a LOT of guys in the ring, rather than making it so that there are very few in there at any given time. I miss the days of when the ring would be so full of people that there was always something going on, someone always going over the top, etc...
Guest Bruiser Chong Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 One would have figured that WWE had learned their lesson by now, with the poor repsonses shortened Rumbles have gotten in the past. I thought that they used the 60-second intervals in 1995 simply because of the lack of talent involved...I guess not. The fact that Jericho said that Michaels went 60-minutes in '95 ruined a potential angle where Jericho could have won the Rumble at #1, lasting the full hour, and then saying he had done better than Michaels, because he had lasted the whole time and gone twice as long. There was plenty of good talent involved this year as well, so going 60-minutes would have been a good idea. All that's down the crapper now, and the Rumble match is just an afterthought. As if they didn't make it meaningless enough already by putting the "prestigious" title shot up for grabs the next month.
Guest Brian Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 I think the Flair match is past consideration, and the Jericho thing is porbably what the plan is now. At least that's what Meltzer made it sound like.
Guest The Old Me Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 I say take the PPV up another hour, to 4 hours long. Stop fucking with tradition, or at least make the intervals 90 seconds long.
Guest LatinoHeat Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Stop fucking with tradition <nWo> tradition bites. </nWo> Seriously this really puts a damper on everything. At least we're guarenteed a ****+ title match.

Oh yeah, it'll obviously be good, but it will not touch ****+, not on my scale at least. (Keep in mind there is no TRUE * scale, it's just a matter of opinion anyhow.) With that in mind, I guess it's POSSIBLE that it could be ***** depending on your personal scale, lol.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 WWE hasn't officially announced that they will use 60-second intervals for the Rumble yet. I can remember in past years where they've floated the idea of doing that, only to have that idea shat upon, which then caused them to go back to 2-min intervals. Bottom line, I wouldn't push the panic button yet.
Guest Eagan469 Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 this sucks shit, didn't the Corporate Rumble on RAW have a bigger interval than 60 seconds?
Guest PlatypusFool Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Benoit and Angle are the only two guys capable of a ***** singles match in the WWE at this time. But as long as they persist in the WWE style (BAH GAWD) of unecessary suplexes, then **** is probly their peak.
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Benoit and Angle may be capable of pulling of a 5 star match, it doesn't mean they'll be allowed to.
Guest The Old Me Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 this sucks shit, didn't the Corporate Rumble on RAW have a bigger interval than 60 seconds? *Pops in best of RAW 2 DVD* The corporate rumble sucked. Too much Billy Gunn and Road Dogg.
Guest GameCop Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 HA!! There's no way i'm ordering the rumble now. A 30 minute Rumble? Hell NO? Look for a LONNNNNGGG interview segment involving the Undertaker, a 20 minute angle involving Dawn, Al and Torrie, a 20 minute DUD involving HHH and Steiner. And of course, a 10 minute DUD between Brock and the Big Show. This RUMBLE WILL BE THE WORST PPV IN YEARS. On the bright side, Jericho will WIN the Rumble. On a side note, I think I know why WWE has decided to go with 60 second intervals this year -- Micheals knew Jericho was going to win; however, he didn't want Jericho to last over 65 minutes, thus overshadowing Michaels '95 Rumble victory. Michaels (and HHH) feels that if Jericho is going to win the Rumble, he'll have to do it with 60 second intervals. In other words, the KLIQ is back.
Guest godthedog Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 if benoit and angle pulled off a ****3/4 match with 14 minutes, they should top that in their sleep with 20+. angle's knee is nothing to worry about. it's been bothering him for months & never slowed him down. hell, he even went the distance in the 4-way elimination match. if anything, he'll be BETTER after having a month to recover. back on topic...fuck one-minute intervals. FUCK THEM. i hate hate hate hate hate them. they better be doing this to make angle/benoit some kind of 40-minute epic, cause at this point there are no other matches that deserve more than 12 minutes.
Guest GameCop Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 This is now a one match card (Angle vs. Benoit) Do you guys think that one match justifies a $35 dollar fee? Especially when you can see stellar matches on Smackdown for FREE! Believe me -- the crap on this card will definitely overshadow the good (Benoit vs. Angle)
