Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Well, I am now going to change my prediction from Brock to Jericho actually going the distance. Now he can go the distance without destroying Shawn's win from one since he did it with 60 second intervals. Why would Jericho win? Isn't it suppose to be Jericho vs. HBK at WM? Yes it is, HBK basicly just said it on Byte this. Someone from RAW will win, but it wont be HBK or Jericho. Who else could win? RVD? (actually, that is my darkhorse pick for the Rumble)
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 11, 2003 HA!! There's no way i'm ordering the rumble now. A 30 minute Rumble? Hell NO? Look for a LONNNNNGGG interview segment involving the Undertaker, a 20 minute angle involving Dawn, Al and Torrie, a 20 minute DUD involving HHH and Steiner. And of course, a 10 minute DUD between Brock and the Big Show. This RUMBLE WILL BE THE WORST PPV IN YEARS. On the bright side, Jericho will WIN the Rumble. On a side note, I think I know why WWE has decided to go with 60 second intervals this year -- Micheals knew Jericho was going to win; however, he didn't want Jericho to last over 65 minutes, thus overshadowing Michaels '95 Rumble victory. Michaels (and HHH) feels that if Jericho is going to win the Rumble, he'll have to do it with 60 second intervals. In other words, the KLIQ is back. Worse than KOTR2002?? I don't think so. Why do you think Jericho is winning the Rumble anyway? I don't think they're gonna do HHH v. Jericho II or Jericho v. Steiner. HBK and Jericho will eliminate each other leading to Brock's win
Guest godthedog Report post Posted January 11, 2003 the rule of wrestlemania 13 states that classic matches will always make a ppv worth watching, no matter how bad the crap is. worth paying $35 for? i don't know. find a sports bar, pay the cover charge, & watch it there. it's cheaper, and the sports bar crowd always makes a bad ppv better (especially if you go with your friends and make asses out of yourselves). Guest GameCop Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Jericho is winning the Rumble for the same reason he beat the Rock at No Mercy 2001. Just like the Rock challenged Jericho to win the "BIG ONE" at No Mercy 2001 and Royal Rumble 2002, Michaels is challenging Jericho to enter the Rumble at #1 and outlast 29 other competitors. If Jericho doesn't win, his transformation to JOBBERHOOD will be complete.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted January 11, 2003 -The WWE weekend synicated shows also announced that participants in the Royal Rumble match will enter every 60 seconds rather than every 120 seconds, which will cause the overall match to be much shorter. Credit: WrestlingObserver.com Its confirmed.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 11, 2003 I don't think Jericho is turning into a jobber at all. They've built him back up since his loss to Flair at Summerslam. I don't think being one of 29 men who don't win a Rumble will turn him into a jobber. Jericho losing could build motivation for him to want to beat HBK at WMXIX. Guest LatinoHeat Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Gamecop, what was the last ppv you felt was worth it?
Guest Brian Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Unless Shawn Michaels takes him out ala Hogan at '92, starting the transformation of Jericho as a face. Because face it, Shawn and Triple H have traded their wins, and Triple H is letting his buddy do what he would never do; put over Jericho. He realizes he needs more stars and opponents down the line and he's already milked what he could out of him. Anyways, I'd think Mysterio and Guerrero would be just as capable, if not more capable, of having a five star match as Angle.
Guest GameCop Report post Posted January 11, 2003 The last card I felt was worth it was SUMMERSLAM 2002. I wasn't disappointed either because it was a stellar card from top to bottom.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2003 WWE might swerve us and have Steiner win the belt and Jericho win the Rumble. Fans would expect BPP/Y2J but in reality HBK and HHH will get the wins back at NWO. And HBK will retire after one last HHH/HBK match at WM. Still on the bright side this Rumble has a HINT of unpredictability compared to last year and 2000 when there was NO doubt whatsoever about HHH and Rocky winning it. Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 11, 2003 The last card I felt was worth it was SUMMERSLAM 2002. I wasn't disappointed either because it was a stellar card from top to bottom. If you ignore the last matches, Unforgiven was a solid card too. Oddly though, Summerslam's been pretty awesome for the past two years that I've seen, got 'em both on DVD. Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted January 11, 2003 HBK didn't go 60 minutes did he? His rumble was only 60 second intervals wasn't it? So he went only about 35 minutes.......didn't he?
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted January 11, 2003 IIRC, the 1995 Rumble match only lasted around 38 minutes.

Guest GameCop Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Why does WWE always feel the need to screw with tradition. First we don't have any more Survivor Series matches at the freakin' Survivor Series. And now we have a quasi Rumble at the Royal Rumble. Before you know it, there will be 30 second intervals. Or better yet, the WWE will just get rid of the intervals and make it a BATTLE ROYALE~! I'm sick of WWE. The IC title is gone, and now this?
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 11, 2003 I thought the Royal Rumble was just the WWE name for a Battle Royal? Oh yeah--thinking back to the Gimmick Battle Royal, they start with everyone in the ring instead of wrestlers entering at intervals, right?
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Despite not having any officially 4 v. 4 matches the Survivor Series did have three matches involving eliminations- the tables match, the 3-way tag match and the elimination chamber

Obviously, because it's time to MOVE ON with the future and start instigating new ideas and methods to the world of Sports Entertainment! Don't you love it whenever there's a good RAW show and suddenly the Jim Ross's proclaim it to be the beginning of another good run for the WWE. I have a feeling that they're going to evaluate the success of this years Wrestlemania and use that as a means to seriously determine on how they're going to run things... Or they'll fuck it up. Guest Brian Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Intervals aren't something that are set in stone anyways. It's different from Survivor Series, intervals go from 60 to 90 to 120 seconds, and even when they're two minutes long most don't last the whole two minutes. Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 11, 2003 RR98 claimed to be 2 minutes but was more 90 seconds. I know last year the intervals became more then two minutes at certain points. It's generally a give or take thing depending on how much time they have
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Oh yeah--thinking back to the Gimmick Battle Royal, they start with everyone in the ring instead of wrestlers entering at intervals, right? Yep- that's a battle royal Ahh..okay. Whoever came up with the Rumble concept--which I think came afteward, was smart. In a Battle Royal it's like: everyone brawl until the jobbers are tossed from the ring, and then keep thinning things out until you get to a winner. In a Royal Rumble, you get to see some actual wrestling in there. However, a stupid variation on the theme: World War 3. No way to follow the action, and then you get to stupid developments like someone clearing "their" ring and waiting around for the others. I was worried they'd have two 30-Men Rumbles this time, so I like it better this way.

Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Yup, 30 seconds intervals suck...on another note, I don't care what you all say....WHOA TIME TO ROCK AND ROLL....errr sorry, I meant I still think Brock is gonna win the RUmble and this Jericho/HBK stuff is just a secondary storyline so RAW can be important too... HBK and Jericho will eliminate each other leading to Brock's win Bingo, there's your ending.

Guest GameCop Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Do you know what is really ironic? This year's Royal Rumble falls on Pat Patterson's birthday (Jan. 19). I remember reading an article about the Rumble in a WWF magazine a couple years ago; Patterson said that he tries to make the Rumble EXTRA special whenever the event falls on his birthday. If you guys didn't know, Patterson is responsible for devising the Royal Rumble concept and he's responsible for planning/scripting the actual match. He's gotta be peeved that Vince and crew decided to go with 60 second intervals this year.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 12, 2003 What day was Royal Rumble 1992?? January 19th.
Guest GameCop Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Yep, the 1992 Rumble is the greatest EVER. It will never be topped. Unless, of course, WWE goes back to 2 minute intervals, books either Jericho/Eddy/RVD/Regal to enter at #1, #2 or #3 and outlast 29 other wrestlers. That would be a keeper.
